  • Patent number: 9825910
Abstract: The captive portal environment exists where there is only a single available communication service that is available to the user. An example of a captive portal environment is on board an aircraft in flight, where the passengers have no access to any communication services, other than the aircraft resident wireless Local Area Network. The Restricted LAN Internet Access System functions in the aircraft to grant the user a temporary Internet session so they can download a prerequisite application from the Internet to make use of an application/service resident on the Restricted LAN in the aircraft.

  • Publication number: 20170128842
Abstract: The field of the invention relates to multi-user online gaming systems, and more particularly to systems and methods that enable a spectator's experience for online active games. In an embodiment, an online multiuser game system includes an online game session server system communicatively coupled to a public network for access by a plurality of users to establish a plurality of real-time interactive games sessions. The online multiuser game system further includes a spectator server communicatively coupled to the online game session server system and configured to enable a user to view summary information of an active game session. In another embodiment, the spectator server enables the user to time shift the active game session and to view the summary information of the active game session. In another embodiment, the spectator server enables the user to view the summary information of the active game session while the user is playing the active game session.

  • Publication number: 20140282426
Abstract: In one embodiment, a system analyzer may iteratively sub-partition the trace timeline 202 of a computer system activity to more accurately understand the root causes 214 of various scenarios 204 in the trace timeline 202. The system analyzer may automatically partition a scenario 204 of the trace timeline 202 on a scenario-aware basis. The system analyzer may automatically sub-partition the scenario 204 into a sub-scenario set of the scenario 204. The system analyzer may display a sub-partitioned trace timeline 202 to a user.

  • Patent number: 8229930
Abstract: A URL reputation system may have a reputation server and a client device with a cache of reputation information. A URL reputation query from the client to the server may return reputation data along with probabilistic set membership information for several variants of the requested URL. The client may use the probabilistic set membership information to determine if the reputation server has additional information for another related URL as well as whether the classifications are inheritable from one of the variants. If the probabilistic set membership determines that the reputation server may have additional information, a query may be made to the reputation server, otherwise the reputation may be inferred from the data stored in the cache.

  • Patent number: 8046892
Abstract: The present invention relate to a method of inhibiting access. Some embodiments of the method include determining that access to an item needs to be inhibited and positioning a thermal grill relative to the item such that the thermal grill provides a barrier against an individual engaging the item. A thermal grill is a device that has several relatively warm portions which are interlaced with several relatively cold portions. When an individual contacts the thermal grill, the temperature difference between the warm and cold portions causes an individual to feel pain (or discomfort) without physiologically damaging the individual. Therefore, the method inhibits access by notifying individuals that they are performing an undesirable activity when they touch the thermal grill without permanently injuring the individual.

  • Patent number: 7841897
Abstract: A four-port coaxial cable ground block is provided with four angularly spaced connection ports disposed for providing sufficient access for convenient connection and tightening of four coaxial cables thereby eliminating the need for use of a plurality of ground blocks in four cable applications. Opposing left and right side ground connections are provided for connection of ground wires thereby providing a common ground point for electrical grounding of a satellite dish all four connected coaxial cables thereby eliminating problems associated with multiple ground wire connections. The four-port ground block provides an improved multi-port ground block for use in connecting and grounding coaxial cable systems, particularly coaxial cables used in connection with DBS satellite dish systems.

  • Patent number: 7716476
Abstract: Controlling access to functionality within an installed software product. The invention includes an authorization module that dynamically references authorization information when specific functionality is requested by a requesting entity such as a user or an application program to determine if the requested functionality is authorized to be executed. Further, the invention dynamically provides an opportunity to the requesting entity to purchase unauthorized functionality. In this manner, functionality within the software product may be enabled or disabled at any time (e.g., during installation, post-installation, and re-installation).
