  • Publication number: 20060290517
Abstract: Disclosed is a system, method, and device for detecting non-nutritive sucking events produced by an infant; patterns comprising such events (i.e., rhythmic sucking patterns, or RSPs); and relating said events and/or RSPs to performance of a disposable absorbent article worn by the infant. The frequency and/or amplitude and/or other characteristics of non-nutritive sucking changes in response to liquid insults introduced to a disposable absorbent article. Accordingly, changes to RSPs offer detectable and measurable indicia of an infant's perception of the performance of a disposable absorbent article. Furthermore, such information may be used to support and/or substantiate marketing communications to consumers, or to guide selection and/or management of research-and-development programs.

  • Publication number: 20060236998
Abstract: The present invention relate to a method of inhibiting access. Some embodiments of the method include determining that access to an item needs to be inhibited and positioning a thermal grill relative to the item such that the thermal grill provides a barrier against an individual engaging the item. A thermal grill is a device that has several relatively warm portions which are interlaced with several relatively cold portions. When an individual contacts the thermal grill, the temperature difference between the warm and cold portions causes an individual to feel pain (or discomfort) without physiologically damaging the individual. Therefore, the method inhibits access by notifying individuals that they are performing an undesirable activity when they touch the thermal grill without permanently injuring the individual.

  • Publication number: 20060238359
Abstract: The system includes a thermal grill that has several relatively warm portions which are interlaced with several relatively cold portions. When an individual contacts the thermal grill, the temperature difference between the warm and cold portions of the thermal grill causes the individual to feel pain without physiologically damaging the individual. The system may provide some indication that the thermal grill should not be contacted. The system may also provide some indication that the thermal grill has been contacted. The system may also be able to send signals that the thermal grill has been contacted to a location that is different from where the thermal grill is located. The system may also allow the temperature difference between the warm and cold portions of the thermal grill to be adjusted from a remote location such that the level of pain which is generated by thermal grill is readily modified.

  • Publication number: 20060212013
Abstract: A diaper has an unfastened condition and a fastened condition. The diaper has a front portion, a back portion and a fastener system. The fastener system is adapted to join the back portion to the front portion thereby transitioning the diaper from the unfastened condition to the fastened condition. The diaper is adapted to provide an umbilical relief area when in the fastened condition without tearing or folding the front waist edge. The diaper does not have an umbilical notch when in the unfastened condition.

  • Publication number: 20060191357
Abstract: Novel methods for measuring the soothing attributes of personal care compositions are disclosed. The methods disclosed are particularly suitable for measuring and comparing the soothing attributes of facial tissue to determine which facial tissue is most soothing to damaged skin. The methods include damaging the skin of a test subject to a predetermined amount, contacting a test facial tissue with the damaged skin, and rating the soothing attributes of the facial tissue. In a preferred embodiment, the amount of skin damage on the skin is determined by the test subject.

  • Publication number: 20060140899
Abstract: Cleansing systems and methods are disclosed for improving the cleaning of skin. The cleansing systems comprise a first product comprising an anti-adherent formulation and a second product comprising a cationic compound capable of binding contaminants located on the skin. The first product is wiped across the skin of a user to introduce a film of the anti-adherent formulation onto the surface of the skin. This film reduces the amount of contaminant that is retained on the skin. The second product is wiped across the skin of a user to further dislodge and remove contaminants from the skin. The cleansing systems result in cleaner, healthier skin.

  • Publication number: 20060058763
Abstract: A disposable garment generally has a liner, an outer cover, and a system for removing water vapor from an environment adjacent the wearer of the garment. A vapor permeable first container of the system contains a humidity reducing agent whereby the presence of humid air and the humidity reducing agent in the first container results in a liquid solution being formed therein. A second container of the system is in fluid communication with the first container for receiving liquid solution formed in the first container. The second container is at least in part liquid impermeable to retain therein liquid solution received from the first container.
