  • Patent number: 10072283
Abstract: Certain embodiments provide a method for capturing a genomic fragment. The method may comprise: obtaining a substrate comprising a first population of surface-bound oligonucleotides and a second population of surface-bound oligonucleotides; hybridizing a first member of the first population of surface-bound oligonucleotides to a selection oligonucleotide comprising a region that hybridizes with the first member and a region that contains a genomic sequence; extending the first member of the first population of surface-bound oligonucleotides to produce a support-bound selection primer that comprises a sequence that is complementary to the genomic sequence; hybridizing the support-bound selection primer to a nucleic acid fragment comprising the genomic sequence; extending the support-bound selection primer to produce an extension product that contains a sequence that flanks the genomic sequence, e.g., in a genome; and amplifying the extension product on the substrate.

  • Patent number: 10072962
Abstract: An out-of-product alarm process includes initiating an out-of-product check by sending a signal to a controller from an optical sensor assembly connected to a fluid delivery medium for delivering a product to a fluid dispensing site, performing an out-of-product check, running an alarm cycle with the controller after receipt of an out-of-product signal, and executing a corrective action. Performing the out-of-product check includes directing light into the fluid delivery medium, generating a detector output based on detected light within the fluid delivery medium, determining an out-of-product state within the fluid delivery medium based on a comparison of the detector output to an out-of-product threshold, starting an out-of-product timer, when the out-of-product state is determined, and determining an out-of-product event when the out-of-product timer reaches a threshold out-of-product time period.

  • Patent number: 10073451
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a safety verifying system for a tractor-trailer combination. The system includes a trailer-data storing portion, a wireless reader, a determining portion, and a controlling portion. The trailer-data storing portion is disposed in a trailer that is to be towed by a tractor. The trailer-data storing portion stores first data associated with the trailer. The wireless reader retrieves the first data from the trailer-data storing portion. The determining portion determines whether the combination of the trailer and the tractor satisfies a safety requirement based on the first data retrieved by the wireless reader and second data associated with the tractor or an intended route to a destination of the trailer. The controlling portion controls operation of the tractor based on a result of the determining portion.

  • Patent number: 10070959
Abstract: A method of treating an articular surface of a metal orthopedic implant includes polishing the surface, blasting the surface with a blast media after the first polishing step and polishing the blasted surface of the metal orthopedic implant after the blasting step. The blasting step roughens the surface to create a surface skew Rsk/Ssk defined by peaks and valleys. The second polishing step reduces the surface skew to a negative skew Rsk/Ssk and produces an average roughness Ra/Sa that is acceptable. Lubrication at the interface of the treated articular surface and the corresponding bearing articular surface is improved, thereby improving wear resistance. Both polishing steps may be performed by drag finishing the surface through an abrasive media.

  • Patent number: 10072617
Abstract: A fuel tank containing a fuel and oil mixture is managed to determine if the fuel and oil mixture contains the correct ratio for a motor. The fuel tank containing a fuel and oil mixture is monitored. A fuel to oil ratio is selected for the motor. A combined viscosity of the fuel and oil mixture is calculated with respect to the fuel to oil ratio, and the temperature of the fuel and oil mixture. The combined viscosity is used to determine a predetermined range of the combined viscosity. The viscosity of the fuel and oil mixture within the fuel tank is measured as a measured viscosity. If the measured viscosity of the fuel and oil mixture does not correspond with the predetermined range, then a user may be alerted that the measured viscosity does not correspond with the predetermined range.

  • Patent number: 10075523
Abstract: A method begins by a dispersed storage (DS) processing module receiving data for storage and generating a dispersed storage network (DSN) source name for the data. The method continues with the DS processing module determining whether substantially identical data to the data has been previously stored in memory of the DSN. When the substantially identical data has been previously stored in the memory of the DSN, the method continues with the DS processing module generating an object linking file that links the data to the substantially identical data, dispersed storage error encoding the object linking file to produce a set of encoded link file slices, and outputting the set of encoded link file slices for storage in the memory of the DSN.

  • Patent number: 10074157
Abstract: A method is implemented at an electronic device for displaying output from an application on a fixed orientation display. The electronic device includes a display module and an application that are distinct from each other. The application sends a request to display output from the application in a second orientation with second dimensions, and receives from the electronic device information indicating that a display associated with the electronic device is a fixed orientation display with a first orientation and first dimensions. The application then determines a standard aspect ratio designated for a type of the first application. The output from the application is thereby scaled based on the standard aspect ratio and the first dimensions of the target display device for display by the display module on the fixed orientation display.
