  • Publication number: 20180256137
Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosed invention provide devices and methods for buffering fluid samples to enable accurate concentration measurements of analytes by salinity-sensitive or pH-sensitive sensors. The buffering capabilities of the device include the ability to control the salinity and pH of a fluid sample, specifically, through the management of solutes such as salts, H+, other ions, and other solutes, that are found in sweat, biofluids, or other fluids. The purpose of such control is to enhance particular fluid sensing device applications by improving detectability of the targeted analyte, or improving performance of analyte sensors. Some embodiments also include components to enable sample concentration to enhance the measurement of low-concentration solutes found in the fluid.

  • Publication number: 20180260907
Abstract: A method is disclosed for mitigating the risks associated with driving by assigning risk values to road segments and using those risk values to select less risky travel routes. Various approaches to helping users mitigate risk are presented. A computing device is configured to generate a database of risk values. That device may receive accident information, geographic information, vehicle information, and other information from one or more data sources and calculate a risk value for the associated road segment. Subsequently, the computing device may provide the associated risk value to other devices. Furthermore, a personal navigation device may receive travel route information and use that information to retrieve risk values for the road segments in the travel route. An insurance company may use this information to determine whether to adjust a quote or premium of an insurance policy.

  • Patent number: 10074380
Abstract: Method for performing speech enhancement using a Deep Neural Network (DNN)-based signal starts with training DNN offline by exciting a microphone using target training signal that includes signal approximation of clean speech. Loudspeaker is driven with a reference signal and outputs loudspeaker signal. Microphone then generates microphone signal based on at least one of: near-end speaker signal, ambient noise signal, or loudspeaker signal. Acoustic-echo-canceller (AEC) generates AEC echo-cancelled signal based on reference signal and microphone signal. Loudspeaker signal estimator generates estimated loudspeaker signal based on microphone signal and AEC echo-cancelled signal. DNN receives microphone signal, reference signal, AEC echo-cancelled signal, and estimated loudspeaker signal and generates a speech reference signal that includes signal statistics for residual echo or for noise.

  • Patent number: 10070720
Abstract: A novel framing system where the horizontal members are formed in a span-aligned-grid consisting of a series of ribs and openings, providing variable-support-points for the vertical members, so that within a given assembly the vertical members may be positioned and repositioned at a multitude of available variable-support-points, in a plurality of usable positions and angle orientations in the horizontal directions of left-to-right and forward-to-back, creating customizable framed opening bays, and that the vertical members are guided to interlock with the horizontal members at a multitude of available predetermined positions, which intersect along spans at variable-support-point locations, as guided by said span-aligned-grid. The novel framing system produces a novel design, where the horizontal members are formed with a slatted patterned surface decoration, which is visually evident of the given configuration of said span-aligned-grid.

  • Patent number: 10073638
Abstract: A computing device includes an interface configured to interface and communicate with a dispersed storage network (DSN), a memory that stores operational instructions, and a processing module operably coupled to the interface and memory such that the processing module, when operable within the computing device based on the operational instructions, is configured to perform various operations. The computing device detects a commissioned storage unit (SU) that was previously non-commissioned and identifies SU(s) that include commissioned SUs among the SUs. The computing device then identifies a SU topology of the SU(s) and selects a subset of the SU(s) based on the SU topology. The computing device then obtains SU address range assignments of the subset of the SU(s) facilitates assignment of a SU address range for the commissioned SU that was previously non-commissioned within the SUs based on the SU address range assignments of the subset of the SU(s).

  • Patent number: 10072493
Abstract: An apparatus can include a conveyance device having a flow bore, an isolator forming a testing volume at least partially defined by an inner surface of a wellbore tubular, and one or more pressure sensors generating signals representative of a pressure in the testing volume while the conveyance device moves the isolator axially through the wellbore tubular. The isolator substantially isolates a testing fluid received from the flow bore in the testing volume from an adjacent bore of the wellbore tubular. A location of at least one flow path in the wellbore tubular is identified by estimating a pressure of the testing fluid in the testing volume. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract, which will allow a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain the general subject matter of the technical disclosure.

  • Patent number: 10075305
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for remapping IP addresses of a network to endpoints within a different network. A provider network may allocate IP addresses and resources to a customer. The provider network may allow the customer to remap an IP address to an endpoint on the customer's network. When a packet is received from a client addressed to the IP address, the provider network may determine that the IP address has been remapped to the endpoint. The provider network may translate the source and destination addresses of the packet and encode the packet for transmission over a private communications channel. The encoded packet may be sent to the endpoint via the private communications channel over an intermediate network. Response traffic may be routed to the client through the provider network, or may be directly routed to the client by the customer network.

  • Patent number: 10075358
Abstract: Embodiments relate to systems and methods for electronically conditioning transmission of communications based on results of a connection assessment. An electronic file is executed at an electronic device, which causes a first query and a second query to be presented. A first query response and a second query response are identified. The first query response is stored in a locked configuration that inhibits the ability to modify the first query response to the first query. The second query response is stored but is not stored in the locked configuration. Query response data is generated that includes an identifier of the second query, an identifier of the second query response and an identifier of the electronic device. A connection variable is determined by assessing one or more network connections available to the electronic device. When a transmission condition is satisfied, the query response data is transmitted to another device.

  • Patent number: 10071181
Abstract: Embolic materials, suspensions, kits and related methods useful for embolization are disclosed. An embolic material can comprise a resorbable microsphere including cross-linked gelatin as its primary ingredient and having a substantially spherical shape with a diameter of about 50 micrometers to about 1,500 micrometers, inclusive. The microsphere can optionally include one or both of a marker or an active agent. The microsphere can be cross-linked, such as with glutaraldehyde or formaldehyde, which can affect the microsphere's in vivo degradation profile and ability to withstand a sterilization process at certain temperatures. In an embodiment, the microspheres can resorb during an in vivo time period of between about 24 hours and about 15 weeks, inclusive. An embolization suspension can include a plurality of resorbable microspheres and a liquid carrier, and the suspension can be disposed in a syringe, vial or other applicator for administration to a patient.
