Publication number: 20090028725Abstract: A hermetic compressor for adjusting the length and cross sectional area of a communication path as a refrigerant flow passage, so as to attenuate a discharge pulsation and consequently, a vibration and noise thereof. The hermetic compressor, which includes a cylinder head having a discharge chamber to discharge a compressed refrigerant and a discharge muffler to receive the refrigerant discharged from the discharge chamber, further includes a communication path to communicate the discharge chamber and the discharge muffler with each other, so as to allow the refrigerant to flow from the discharge chamber into the discharge muffler, and an auxiliary communication tube to increase a length of the communication path for increasing a refrigerant flow distance. The auxiliary communication path reduces the cross sectional area of a refrigerant flow passage while increasing a refrigerant flow distance, thereby attenuating a low-frequency component of the discharge pulsation.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 7, 2008Publication date: January 29, 2009Applicant: Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.Inventors: Jeong II Park, Jeong Hoon Kang, Ji Hoon Choi, Phil Soo Chang

Publication number: 20040236450Abstract: The invention is directed to a method for diagnosing the state of a system. The system may be mechanical, chemical, electrical, medical, industrial, business operations, manufacturing related, and/or processing related, among others. The method may measure a signal from the system. Further, the method may compare the signal to an expected signal. The method may calculate a signal strength and/or a noise. The signal strength and noise may be functions of a frequency. Further, the signal strength and noise may be used to determine a channel capacity and/or a rate of information. A comparison of the rate of information and the channel capacity may yield information associated with the state of the system. The information may be used in diagnosing the state of the system. Further, the expected signal may be derived from a model. The model may be tuned to the measured signal. The model may have parameters that are associated with features and/or faults of the system.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 25, 2001Publication date: November 25, 2004Applicant: Motorwiz, Inc.Inventors: Michael D.
