  • Patent number: 10948221
Abstract: A system for obtaining a desired cooling effect that utilizes a water-soluble endothermic salt solution and pure water. The cooling effect is created by cycling between two phases, a refrigeration phase and a dehydration phase. In the refrigeration phase, a water-soluble endothermic salt solution is used as a refrigerant to absorb heat by pumping through a first heat exchanger which cools an object or an area. In the dehydration phase, the cooling process is regenerated by pumping the now heated endothermic salt solution through a distillation membrane, where the solution and pure water are continuously commingled and separated from one another through a distillation membrane to optimize the thermodynamic efficiency of the system. At least two pumps provide the motive energy to move the endothermic salt and pure water through the closed loop piping system. The concentrated salt solution leaving the distillation membrane is further cooled using a second heat exchanger to facilitate crystal formation.

  • Publication number: 20210048373
Abstract: An anthropomorphic test device utilizes a mounting mechanism for coupling a hollow member including a simulated flesh to a support structure, with the simulated flesh including a foam core portion covered with a skin portion. The mounting mechanism includes inserts, such as plastic or metal inserts having a flange portion and an elongated tubular member, which are introduced in multiple places within the simulated flesh with the flange portion within the foam core portion and the elongated tubular member extending through the skin portion. A fastening member is inserted through an elongated opening in the insert and within a receiving cavity portion of the support structure to secure the hollow member to the support structure. The hollow member may be a hollow pelvic member, and the support structure may be a pelvic support structure, with the hollow pelvic member secured to the pelvic support structure via the mounting mechanism.

  • Patent number: 10916227
Abstract: A percussion instrument strike training applique is formed as a multi-layer removable sticker that covers a percussion instrument playing/striking zone. The multi-layer sticker has a detachable ink layer on a top surface of the applique that detaches when struck with a striking implement of the instrument. The detachment of the detachable ink layer from the striking surface of the instrument allows the percussion instrument players to assess their performance when they are not playing and are free to think critically and make adjustments.

  • Publication number: 20210032018
Abstract: A safety door latch system is presented for a grain bin having a door frame. An inner door is connected to the door frame that is configured to move between an open position and a closed position. An outer door is connected to the door frame and is configured to move between an open position and a closed position. A safety mechanism is connected to the door frame and is configured to move between an open position and a closed position. When the inner door frame is moved to a closed position, a portion of the inner door engages the safety mechanism thereby causing the safety mechanism to move to the closed position. When the safety mechanism is in the closed position, the outer door may be latched to the safety mechanism. When the safety mechanism is in the open position, the outer door cannot latch to the safety mechanism.

  • Publication number: 20210031900
Abstract: A rear pressure bulkhead comprising a dome shaped structure, and a set of built-in extension components (“petals”) homogeneously distributed along the periphery of the dome-shaped structure. This results in the dome-shaped structure being secured to a frame of the aircraft, while the extension components are secured to longitudinal structures of the aircraft. An aircraft rear fuselage is provided including such a rear pressure bulkhead so that the available cabin space, i.e., pressurized space, is extended without enlarging the fuselage.

  • Patent number: 10907264
Abstract: A durable composite diamond electrode is disclosed which comprise at least a relatively thicker conductive UNCD (Ultrananocrystalline Diamond) layer, with low deposition cost, on a substrate underlying a relatively thinner conductive MCD (Microcrystalline Diamond) layer. The electrode exhibits long life and superior delamination resistance under extremely stressed electrochemical oxidation conditions. It is hypothesized that this improvement in electrode reliability is due to a combination of stress relief by the composite film with the slightly “softer” underlying UNCD “root” layer and the electrochemically durable overlying MCD “shield” layer, an effective disruption mechanism of the fracture propagation between the compositing layers, and thermal expansion coefficient match between the diamond layers and the substrate.

  • Patent number: 10907373
Abstract: A system of connecting a stiffener to the sidewall of a grain bin using a stud bolt having a first threaded end, a second threaded end and a feature positioned between the first end and a second end. A sealing member is positioned over the first end of the stud bolt, which in one case is a metallic washer with an affixed compressible sealing member. The first end of the stud bolt is inserted into a hole in the sidewall and an inner nut is placed over the first end inside the sidewall. As the inner nut is tightened, the feature is pulled toward the exterior surface of the grain bin thereby causing the sealing member to form a seal with the exterior surface of the grain bin. The second end of the stud bolt is inserted into a hole in the stiffener which is tightened onto the stud bolt.

  • Patent number: 10876752
Abstract: A method of controlling a discharge air reset in an heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR system includes determining, by a controller, a space temperature in a conditioned space, a setpoint temperature of the conditioned space, and an operating mode of a variable-air-volume (VAV) box for the conditioned space. The controller determines whether the operating mode of the VAV box matches an operating mode of an HVACR unit. A deviation from the setpoint temperature of the conditioned space for the VAV box for the conditioned is calculated in response to determining the VAV box is in a same mode as the HVACR unit. An average deviation from the setpoint temperature of the conditioned space is calculated. A discharge air setpoint temperature is determined based on the average deviation from the setpoint temperature of the conditioned space. The controller sets the discharge air setpoint temperature of the HVACR unit using the determined discharge air setpoint temperature.
