  • Patent number: 10719383
Abstract: A data processing system (2) supports non-speculative execution of vector load instructions that perform at least one contingent load of a data value. Fault detection circuitry (26) serves to detect whether a contingent load is fault-generating contingent load or a fault-free contingent load. Contingent load suppression circuitry (28) detects and suppresses a fault-free contingent load that matches a predetermined criteria that may result in an undesired change of architectural state (undesired side-effect). Examples of such predetermined criteria are that the contingent load is to a non-memory device or that the contingent load will trigger a diagnostic response such as entry of a halting debug halting mode or triggering of a debug exception.

  • Publication number: 20200225953
Abstract: An apparatus and method of operating an apparatus are provided. The apparatus is responsive to a bit-testing instruction which specifies a source vector register and an index to perform a bit-testing procedure on plural elements stored in the source vector register to generate plural result bits. The bit-testing procedure comprises, for each processed element of the plural elements, setting a respective result bit of the plural result bits in dependence on a value of a tested bit at a bit position in the processed element of the source vector register indicated by the index. This bit-testing instruction thus enables increased performance of program code which is required to perform multiple bit tests and can be suitably formulated into a vectorised form.

  • Patent number: 10684265
Abstract: A method for measuring volatile organic compounds includes loading glass containers into an oven, heating the oven, purging the oven with dry clean air, collecting a volumetric portion of an oven exhaust, trapping volatile organic compounds from the volumetric portion, and measuring the volatile organic compounds trapped in the trap. The one or more glass containers are in-tact while measuring the VOCs of the coated glass container. An apparatus includes an oven having an interior volume that is capable of holding one or more in-tact glass containers, a flow meter fluidly connected to the first trap, and a pump fluidly connected to the flow meter. • Patent number: 10668711
Abstract: The invention pertains to a photosensitive element, particularly a photopolymerizable printing form precursor; a method of preparing the photosensitive element to form a printing form for use in relief printing; and, a process of making the photosensitive element. The printing form precursor includes a layer of a photosensitive composition, a digital layer that is adjacent to a side of the photosensitive layer, and a cell pattern layer that is disposed between the photosensitive layer and the digital layer. The cell pattern layer includes a plurality of features, and is composed of an ink that is opaque to actinic radiation and transparent to infrared radiation. Since the cell pattern layer is integral with the printing form precursor, digital imaging can occur rapidly with relatively low resolution optics to form a mask without needing to also form a microcell pattern of the digital layer.

  • Patent number: 10669535
Abstract: Compositions and methods for the isolation of protein-nucleic acid complexes and microvesicles (collectively referred to as “bioparticles”) released by mammalian cells into body fluids or cell culture media are provided. Isolated bioparticles of the invention contain biological molecules that are useful as diagnostic/prognostic biomarkers or for identification of therapeutic targets (e.g., disease or disorder-associated miRNAs). The isolation of biological molecules as described herein results in purification and concentration of the molecules. Methods for producing bio fluids that are free of detectable bioparticles, that are largely depleted of bioparticles, or that possess a reduced concentration of bioparticles compared to a bio fluid starting material (collectively termed “bioparticle-depleted”) are also provided. Isolation of bioparticle-depleted biofluid is useful, e.g.

  • Patent number: 10659866
Abstract: Disclosed herein are electronic devices having a deformable surfaces through which a user can provide inputs to the device by applying a force such as a pinch or a squeeze. A particular embodiment is an earpiece with the deformable surface part of an elongate section extending from an earbud. The deformable surface includes an incompressible hyperelastic material and a pressure sensor. The pressure sensor includes a pressure sensing element and a void defined between the pressure sensing element and the incompressible hyperelastic material. An applied force is transferred by the incompressible hyperelastic material to compress the void and change an internal pressure thereof. The changed pressure is detected by the pressure sensor, and can result in changed operation of the electronic device.

  • Publication number: 20200150036
Abstract: A method is provided for measuring time varying particle fluxes with improved temporal resolution and signal to noise ratio. The particles can be photons, neutrons, electrons or electrically charged particles. The method includes a set of electronic and/or optical components and a set of algorithms that implement N-fold temporal multiplexing of the input flux. The system can be used to measure other types of flux by using a transducer to convert the flux into a compatible form. The system can include a transducer such as a scintillator that operates to convert particle flux incident into a photon flux proportional to the amplitude of particle flux. The invention can be used with multiplexing methods known to those skilled in the art, for example Hadamard and Fourier methods.

  • Publication number: 20200149931
Abstract: A method is provided for spatially modulating electromagnetic radiation at high frequency where the modulation is phase, polarization or direction of propagation comprises a substrate carrying an ordered array of optical elements in relative motion with respect to an incident beam of electromagnetic radiation to be modulated and measuring the relative motion. The array contains at least three optical elements and at least two different types of optical elements. At least some of the optical elements are formed from and integral to the substrate material. The optical elements may be fabricated on the substrate material by a subtractive process. The electromagnetic radiation to be modulated is incident on a region of the substrate termed the active region. As the substrate moves relative to the incident electromagnetic radiation, the active region also moves and the designation of individual optical elements changes also.
