Abstract: A system for data migration between high performance computing architectures and data storage disks includes an intermediate data migration handling system which has an intermediate data storage module coupled to the computer architecture to store data received, and a data controller module which includes data management software supporting the data transfer activity between the intermediate data storage module and the disk drives in an orderly manner independent of the random I/O activity of the computer architecture. RAID calculations are performed on the data prior to storage in the intermediate storage module, as well as when reading data from it for assuring data integrity, and carrying out reconstruction of corrupted data. The data transfer to the disk drives is actuated in sequence determined by the data management software based on minimization of seeking time, tier usage, predetermined time since the previous I/O cycle, or fullness of the intermediate data storage module.

Abstract: An armrest assembly is provided for adjusting an armrest of a seating unit in three degrees of motion. The armrest assembly includes an angle-adjustment mechanism that allows the armrest to pivot and to translate forward, and a lift mechanism that enables vertical articulation of the armrest. The angle-adjustment assembly includes a pivot bracket with a downwardly disposed pin and a shuttle with an arcuate slot to receive the pin. The arcuate slot includes contoured walls that form detents for restricting movement of the pin, thereby restraining rotation of the shuttle, with respect to the pivot bracket, to predefined angular positions. The lift mechanism includes a rack with ride element(s) extending therefrom and locking teeth, and a control bar with track(s). An upward manual actuation of the control bar causes the track to shift laterally and retract the locking teeth, via interaction between the track(s) and ride element(s), respectively.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method of making an LED light bulb using a plurality of surface mount light emitting diodes mounted on a variety of semiregular polyhedrons and optimizing the number and placement of the surface mount light emitting diodes for the widest lighting angle (to achieve as close to 360-degrees in three dimensions) with a heat sink matched to the thermal output of the surface mount light emitting diodes and the heat conductive capacity of the polyhedron. Also described are a light emitting diode light bulb made using a plurality of surface mount light emitting diodes mounted on a variety of semiregular polyhedrons. Some embodiments may include a heat conductor comprising a plurality of curved-T shaped heat fins.

Abstract: A network information monitor for accessing and displaying Internet content includes a definition for rendering a graphical user interface and a URL pointing to the Internet Content to be downloaded and presented within said user interface. A graphical viewer may be used in association with the network information monitor to manage the collection, organization, sharing, and rendering of a plurality of such monitors. A user is provided with the option of arranging multiple network information monitors, such as in groups, and such as vertically, horizontally, etc. By selecting, dragging and dropping, network information monitors are snapped or docked together such that they may be move individually or in mass on the client display. The organization and groupings may be shared with others.

Abstract: A file system is disclosed that includes an application wide name space instantiated in a global index (Gindex) that is used for accessing objects related to an application. Using the Gindex, a method for cache coherency includes establishing one or more appliances, each defining a storage cluster; establishing one or more tenants spanning across appliances, wherein an application stores objects in file systems associated with the appliances and tenants; establishing a Gindex including metadata relating to objects stored in association with the application; replicating the Gindex to plurality of data centers supporting the tenants; storing an original object at a first data center; storing a cached copy of the object at a second data center; aligning the cached copy using metadata for the object from a local copy of the Gindex.

Abstract: A statistical processing system includes a server operably configured with program instructions implementing a plurality of statistical models to at least one of (a) predict a health outcome based on questionnaire responses, (b) assist a patient's choice of therapeutic modality based on questionnaire responses, and (c) assess a health risk or status based on questionnaire responses. Also provided is a research agency communicating with the server and contracted to provide the statistical models using a visual interface communicated by the server. The server is configured to analyze requests received from users relating to a plurality of said statistical models to reduce redundancy in requests for patient data.

Abstract: A method for providing decision support includes using a programmed computer to input a regression model specification, and to repeat the input a plurality of times to obtain and store a plurality of regression model specifications. Abstract: An improvement to devices known as “patient turners”, provides for a hand controlled brake and locking mechanism that positively locks the rotatable platform of these devices to their stationary base. The activation or deactivation of the mechanism is done by hand at a grab handle of the device instead of by foot at the base of the device. This allows the assistant using the device to rotate a patient standing on the platform to always keep two hands on the device and both feet on the floor during the whole rotation process. This process includes the activation of the braking and locking mechanism to prevent accidental and unplanned rotation of the platform, the patient getting onto the platform, the deactivation of the mechanism, the rotation of the patient on the platform by the assistant, the activation of the mechanism, and the patient getting off the platform.
