  • Publication number: 20160092781
Abstract: Mathematical technologies for recommending content to a user based on a user's preferences are disclosed. Embodiments of these technologies can generate a probabilistic representation of a data set, and then adjust the probabilistic representation to reflect a user-specific weighting scheme. The user preference-adjusted representation of the data set can be used to recommend content to the user.

  • Patent number: 8788701
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method and method which analyzes large amounts of information on a real-time basis with no previous static data set. Attributes of the data, which can be thought of as data concepts, that are present in the data stream are detected and isolated. These concepts are referred to as clusters and are used to ultimately determine the semantics of the data stream. The streaming clusters have no “current membership” in the existing state of the clustering and thus the cluster sets, and their relationship to each other, must be generated and updated as the data is being received.

  • Patent number: 8298818
Abstract: The present inventors concerns vectors carrying a truncated chimeric CMV-chicken ?-actin (smCBA) promoter in which the hybrid chicken ?-actin/rabbit ?-globin intron is greatly shortened, and their use to deliver to an operatively linked polynucleotide to host cells in vitro or in vivo, resulting in expression of the polynucleotide in the host cells. In one embodiment, the vector carrying the smCBA promoter is administered to the eye. In another embodiment, the vector carrying the smCBA promoter is a self-complementary adeno-associated virus (AAV). The AAV vector may be of any serotype (e.g., type 1, type 2, type 3, type 4, type 5, type 6, type 7, type 8, type 9, type 10). In another embodiment, a self-complementary vector carrying the smCBA promoter is administered to the eye. Another aspect of the invention concerns host cells carrying a vector of the invention.

  • Patent number: 8163834
Abstract: A photoresponsive ionogel comprising a photo-responsive polymer polymerised within an ionic liquid matrix is described. This solid-state electrolyte material maintains its ionic liquid characteristics but these characteristics can be altered upon irradiation of the gel with light of a particular wavelength. By suitably configuring the ionogel through the incorporation of specific ions within the gel it is possible to cause dramatic changes in properties of the ionogel such as viscosity, conductivity, acidity, basicity and polarity using light as the stimulus.

  • Patent number: 8088300
Abstract: Disclosed is a stabilized chlorine dioxide generating composition containing an oxy-chlorine salt, an acid source, optionally a free halogen source, and an endothermic agent. The endothermic agent neutralizes heat evolved by exothermic reaction of the oxy-chlorine salt by the endothermic reaction of the endothermic agent. Since the endothermic reaction eliminates and/or mitigates propagation of the exothermic reaction of the oxy-chlorine salt from a localized area through the total mass of the material, the chlorine dioxide generating composition is thereby stabilized during making, storing, or shipping the composition.

  • Patent number: 7976337
Abstract: A method and system for coupling to a palmtop computer that supports both mobile computing and desktop use. A palmtop computer docking system is disclosed that includes a cable assembly and a base. The cable assembly includes a palmtop computer connection mechanism that is connected to a USB connector and that is connected to a power connection mechanism via an electrical cable. Power is provided via the power connection mechanism. The cable assembly is adapted to engage the base so as to produce a fully functional docking cradle. In operation, once the cable assembly is engaged with the base, the USB connector is then coupled to the desired computing device (typically either a portable computer or a full-size computer). The resulting docking cradle facilitates desktop use such as, for example, communication with a full size computer. The cable assembly can be removed from the base and can be used independently of the base for mobile computing.

  • Publication number: 20110077664
Abstract: A device for processing harvested dermal tissue includes a body having a cutting head portion and a handle portion extending from the cutting head portion. The cutting head portion defines a chamber. A cutting assembly is disposed in the chamber and includes a plurality of blades and a flexible spacer member disposed on the axle such that the blades rotate as the axle rotates. Each of the plurality of blades is separated from an adjacent blade by a spacer disposed on the axle. A grill assembly is coupled to the body and includes a grill and a grill cap. The grill has a plurality of spaced apart slots sized and configured to receive the blades and maintain the blades in a position with respect to the body. The grill cap is sized and configured to couple the grill to the cutting head portion of the body.

  • Patent number: 7712097
Abstract: A data processing system (1) is programmed with objects (2) according to the object-oriented architecture. Each object (2) is for implementing an event, which for financial securities processing is often referred to as a corporate action. An object (2) has a container (3) containing a series of masks (4), all at the same level in a flat structure. Each mask has four binary bit flags, each switching on or off a pre-stored unit (5) of executable code for an asynchronous transaction. Initialization or modifications of the system involves only processing through a series of decisions and setting mask flags accordingly.
