Publication number: 20210035746Abstract: A mesoporous, nanocrystalline, metal oxide construct particularly suited for capacitive energy storage that has an architecture with short diffusion path lengths and large surface areas and a method for production are provided. Energy density is substantially increased without compromising the capacitive charge storage kinetics and electrode demonstrates long term cycling stability. Charge storage devices with electrodes using the construct can use three different charge storage mechanisms immersed in an electrolyte: (1) cations can be stored in a thin double layer at the electrode/electrolyte interface (non-faradaic mechanism); (2) cations can interact with the bulk of an electroactive material which then undergoes a redox reaction or phase change, as in conventional batteries (faradaic mechanism); or (3) cations can electrochemically adsorb onto the surface of a material through charge transfer processes (faradaic mechanism).Type: ApplicationFiled: July 2, 2020Publication date: February 4, 2021Applicant: THE REGENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIAInventors: Bruce S. Publication number: 20210013550Abstract: A novel wound electrode assembly for a lithium oxyhalide electrochemical cell is described. The electrode assembly comprises an elongate cathode of an electrochemically non-active but electrically conductive carbonaceous material disposed between an inner elongate portion and an outer elongate portion of a unitary lithium anode. That way, lithium faces the entire length of the opposed major sides of the cathode. This inner anode portion/cathode/outer anode portion configuration is rolled into a wound-shaped electrode assembly that is housed inside a cylindrically-shaped casing. A cylindrically-shaped sheet-type spring centered in the electrode assembly presses outwardly to limit axial movement of the electrode assembly. In one embodiment, all the non-active components, except for the cathode current collector which is nickel, are made of stainless-steel. This provides the cell with a low magnetic signature without adversely affecting the cell's high-rate capability.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 10, 2020Publication date: January 14, 2021Inventors: Yufei Wang, John S. Publication number: 20210014798Abstract: A method for reporting power headroom is disclosed. Power headroom may be reported across all carriers (wideband), for a specific carrier, or for a carrier group. Publication number: 20210000939Abstract: The present invention provides for modified Flavivirus such as a modified Zika virus. The modification according to various aspects of the invention results in reduced viral proteins compared to a parent virus, wherein the reduction in expression is the result of recoding one or more regions of the virus. For example, the prM, or envelope (E) region, or the nonstructural protein 3 (NS3) region or both the E and NS3 regions can be recoded. In various embodiments one or more regions are recoded by reducing the codon pair bias or codon usage bias of the protein-encoding sequence. These modified Flavivirus are used as vaccine compositions to provide a protective immune response.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 21, 2018Publication date: January 7, 2021Applicant: Codagenix Inc.Inventors: John Robert Coleman, Steffen Mueller, Ying Wang

Patent number: 10884475Abstract: A portable electronic device determines a battery available power for the device's battery and manages device power usage based upon the battery available power. The device includes a battery and a controller. The controller is configured to receive a first voltage value for the battery at a first time, a first current value for the battery, a second voltage value for the battery at a second time, and a second current value for the battery. It is determined that a time difference between the first time and the second time exceeds a predetermined time threshold. An estimated resistance of the battery is determined based at least on a first difference between the first current value and the second current value and a second difference between the first voltage value and the second voltage value.
