Abstract: A method and system for making it easy for users to identify their mobile device and the applications available for their device is provided, referred to as a device identification system. The device identification system simplifies the process of determining the device a user is using and the applications available for that device. Users are generally much more familiar with their device's features than they are with information such as the model number. Thus, the device identification system makes it easy for users to determine their device type by asking them questions to which they are likely to know the answer. Other features and alternatives are described.

Abstract: A distributed information network is constructed for gathering information from sites distributed across a globally accessible computer network, i.e., the Internet. The distributed information network preferably includes a root server that stores a list of multiple distributed sites each represented by metadata. A network browser delivers an information search request to the root server, which in response develops a profiled information search request. The information provider of each of the distributed sites stores metadata corresponding to information content that is retrievable in response to the profiled information search request for search results derivable from the information content to which the metadata correspond. A profiled information communication link between the root server and each of the multiple distribution sites enables formation of a path for delivery of the search results to a destination site, from a site or sites represented by the metadata of the profiled information search request.

Abstract: In general, this disclosure describes techniques for implementing a system-wide reset of multiple devices. The techniques ensure that when any one of the devices of the system is reset, all the devices are reset. For example, a system includes a master reset device and a plurality of slave reset devices that are interconnected by a single reset line to provide improved robustness against electrostatic discharge (ESD) and electromagnetic pulse events. The master reset device detects a reset signal on the reset line and retransmits a true reset signal on the reset line in response to detecting the reset signal. Additionally, the master reset device may enter a blocking state after retransmitting the true reset signal to prevent detecting the reset signal that it transmitted on the reset line to avoid reset lockup.

Abstract: A multi-panel phased array antenna architecture and signal processing subsystem combines baseband outputs of multiple carrier demodulators associated with respective phased array panels prior to bit-decision processing at baseband for data and clock recovery. The baseband bit decisions are fed back to control the operation of the carrier recovery loops of the demodulators. This improves the signal-to-noise ratio in the carrier recovery loops and allows near theoretical system operation at lower signal-to-noise ratios than would otherwise be achievable.
