  • Patent number: 10273948
Abstract: A method of operating a compressor includes obtaining a harmonic series representation of speed variation as the rotor rotates through each revolution. The method includes regulating an electric motor to compensate for or cancel out the periodic speed variation. Specifically, the method includes calculating an electromagnetic torque using a torque control input model based on the speed error and the harmonic series representation of the speed error. The operation of the electric motor is then adjusted such that the electromagnetic torque applied by the motor cancels out the speed variation such that noise and vibrations are minimized.

  • Patent number: 10265802
Abstract: A method of reworking an aerospace component includes removing a casting defect from a component manufactured of a non-fusion weldable base alloy to form a cavity. The cavity is then at least partially filled with a multiple of layers of discrete laser powder deposition spots of a filler alloy. A cast component for a gas turbine engine includes a cast component non-fusion weldable base alloy with a cavity filled with a multiple of layers of laser powder deposition spots of a filler alloy. The filler alloy may be different than the non-fusion weldable base alloy. A layer of non-fusion weldable base alloy is at least partially within the cavity and over the filler alloy.

  • Patent number: 10190307
Abstract: Disclosed is a basement sewer drain pump housing that draws fluid from a drain into a housing, where after the fluid is discharged from the housing and out of the basement. The device comprises a pickup tube having a fluid level sensor, which is placed within a sewer main drain or floor drain. The housing comprises an enclosed volume, a suction tube connected to the pickup tube, a suction pump, and a discharge pump. The pump is activated by a switch controlled by the pickup tube fluid sensor, the fluid is drawn into the housing from the drain and discharged through a discharge pipe. The device operates from outlet or battery and serves as a basement drain pump that prevents fluid and sewage backflow during power outages and plumbing blockages. Another modification provides two donuts to prevent the flow of fluid locking both the floor drain and the main sewer drain. Another embodiment show an inflator to stop the flow of fluids.

  • Patent number: 10107655
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for device-free motion detection and presence detection within an area of interest. A plurality of nodes, configured to be arranged around the area of interest, form a wireless network. The plurality of nodes transmit wireless signals as radio waves and receive transmitted wireless signals. The received signal strength (RSS) of the transmitted wireless signals between the plurality of nodes are measured and a value is reported. A computing device receives the reported values for the measured RSS and tracks the reported values over time. The computing device processes the reported values using an aggregate disturbance calculation to detect motion and presence within the area of interest. The computing device may notify notification device of a detected disturbance within the area of interest.

  • Publication number: 20180262542
Abstract: A conference management system that is capable of managing one or more panels within a teleconference. The conference manager is capable of receiving commands for the purposes of configuring one or more panels and, during a teleconference, activating various panels at various times. In particular, the conference manager is configured to add participants in a teleconference to a panel. The conference manager is also configured to activate a panel, which has the effect of unmuting the audio and video media of the participants previously identified as members of the panel. The conference manager can be further configured to restore the conference to its previous mode, such as a lecture mode in which a lecturer participant is identified as a permanent speaker such that activating and deactivating a panel does not result in the lecturer being muted. Muting treatments other than activating a panel can also be applied to the teleconference.

  • Patent number: 9799077
Abstract: An enhanced claims settlement apparatus may process insurance claims rapidly and accurately. The apparatus may first receive a notification of loss associated with an insured item (e.g., car, boat, truck, home, etc.). The apparatus may then apply various algorithms for using sensors to identify, analyze, and estimate the cost of damage associated with the insured item. The sensors that are a part of the enhanced claims settlement server may include cameras, tactile sensors, electromagnetic sensors, etc. that may communicate data to a processor associated with the server. Once the data has been generated and analyzed by the sensors, a claim settlement file may be transmitted to a claimant.
