  • Publication number: 20110252338
Abstract: Unique content generated by a group of individual users is evaluated. First unique content provided by a first user via a social networking website interface is collected at a tangible host server. Second unique content provided by a second user via the social networking website interface is collected at the tangible host server. User input ratings from individual users of the social networking website interface are collected so as to rate the first unique content and second unique content. In a first evaluation stage, the first unique content and second unique content are evaluated based on user input from individual users of the social networking website interface so as to comparatively rank the first unique content and second unique content.

  • Patent number: 8025239
Abstract: An identification document manufacturing method makes an identification document with an optically variable security feature by forming a lens structure in the document's lamination layer along with image information. The method provides image information arranged to include at least two different images. The method uses pressure to form a lens profile in a laminate, including combining the laminate with ink representing the image information to form the document. The document is formed together with the laminate and ink such that the lens profile enables display of the at least two different images when the document is viewed at different predetermined angles. An information bearing document comprises a core layer, an image layer depicting at least two different images, and a laminate layer. The laminate layer is pressed on the core layer such that it forms a lens profile that enables display of the at least two different images when the document is viewed at different predetermined angles.

  • Publication number: 20100162125
Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, computer-implemented methods, and computer-readable media for browsing based on user recognition. The method includes receiving input from a user, verifying a user identity based on the input, identifying a browsing device of the user, retrieving a user profile associated with the user and the identified browsing device, the profile storing browser settings, and launching a browser on the identified browsing device with browser settings from the retrieved user profile. The input can be speech. The user identity can be verified by network-based speaker recognition. The method can further automatically update the user profile based on user actions. In one aspect, the method further identifies a preferred browser in the user profile, provisions a version of the preferred browser adapted to the identified browsing device, and launches the provisioned preferred browser on the identified browsing device with settings from the retrieved user profile.

  • Publication number: 20100161446
Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, computer-implemented methods, and tangible computer-readable media for placing an order for a user. The method includes receiving a search from a user, identifying a product category based on the search, presenting to the user a general ordering screen based on the identified product category, selecting and activating a speech recognition grammar tuned for the identified product category, recognizing a first received user utterance with the activated tuned grammar to identify a vendor who offers items in the identified product category, recognizing a second received user utterance with the activated tuned grammar to identify a specific item from the identified vendor, and placing an order for the specific item with the identified vendor for the user. In one aspect, the method further offers to sell the user additional items ancillary to the specific item.

  • Publication number: 20080072438
Abstract: A saw blade clamping arrangement for a power tool including a housing, a drive shaft mounted for reciprocating motion relative to the housing and having a longitudinal drive axis, and a saw blade releasably interconnected with the drive shaft. The saw blade clamping arrangement includes a blade support mechanism with first and second slots crosswise intersecting slots configured to selectively receive the saw blade in first and second orientations. The clamping arrangement also includes a tubular actuator rotatable about the longitudinal drive axis between an engaged position and a disengaged position, the actuator including a locking cam surface, and a locking member operatively associated with the actuator, and movable between a locked position that selectively locks the blade in one of the first and second orientations and an unlocked position that releases the blade, the locking member including a follower surface driven by the locking cam surface.

  • Patent number: 7191957
Abstract: A peristaltic depositing machine includes a hopper to store viscous material. A flexibly deformable tubing section is connected to the hopper for receiving the viscous material. A pair of rollers cooperate to compress tubing section and thereafter move forwardly along the tubing section such that the viscous material is forwardly propagated. A manifold is connected between the hopper and the tubing section to transmit the viscous material there between. A flow control unit is connected to a portion of the tubing section forward of the pair of rollers. The flow control unit alternately constricts and unconstricts the portion of the tubing section in synchronism with the forward movement by the pair of rollers. A nozzle is connected to an output end of said tubing section to shape the viscous material upon output. A carriage is also connected to an output end of the tubing section and moves about a predetermined travel path to thereby direct an output location of the viscous material.

  • Publication number: 20070037131
Abstract: A method for incentivizing learning comprising the steps of selecting an educational component (55) for a user, selecting at least one condition (56-64) for interchanging between the educational component and an entertainment component for the user, enabling access to the entertainment component (85), interrupting the entertainment component (88), providing the educational component to the user after the interruption (89), and resuming the entertainment component or maintaining the educational component as a function of the condition for interchanging between the educational component and the entertainment component (90). The condition for interchanging from the educational component to the entertainment component may be a function of the results of a test, and the test may have a difficulty level and the difficulty level may increase as a function of the number of interruptions of the entertainment component.
