  • Publication number: 20190086667
Abstract: A near eye display comprising: a display device; and a waveguide; wherein the waveguide comprises an entry diffractive element and an exit diffractive element; wherein the display device is arranged to direct light into the waveguide via the entry diffractive element and wherein the exit diffractive element is arranged to direct light from the waveguide towards a user's eye; wherein the display device is arranged to output images in a repeating sequence of two or more different colours. Providing the images are transmitted in sufficiently quick succession, the brain will not perceive them as separate images, but will instead essentially merge them (as if they were overlaid on top of one another. As the brain is good at pattern recognition, it can compensate for any minor misalignments that occur between the different images. In this way the time-multiplexing approach avoids the need for multiple parallel waveguides for each specific colour or colour band.

  • Patent number: 10224908
Abstract: An integrated circuit may include path delay calibration circuitry. The calibration circuitry may be configured to calibrate respective delay paths so that data and control signals travelling through the respective delay paths experience proper propagation delays during normal user operation. The calibration circuitry may include a high frequency error calibration circuit, a monitoring circuit, and a calibration processing circuit. The high frequency error calibration circuit may be used to compute first calibration settings that take into account jitter and process variations. The monitoring circuit may be used to measure a proxy parameter of interest. The processing circuit may be used to compute an offset based at least partly on the measured value of the proxy parameter. The offset may be applied to the first calibration settings to obtain second calibration settings, which can be used to configure the respective delay paths.

  • Publication number: 20190042329
Abstract: A system is provided that includes a host processor coupled to a programmable acceleration coprocessor. The coprocessor may include logic for implementing a physical function and multiple associated virtual functions. The coprocessor may include a static programmable resource interface circuit (PIC) configured to perform management functions and one or more partial reconfiguration regions, each of which can be loaded with an accelerator function unit (AFU). An AFU may further be partitioned into AFU contexts (AFCs), each of which can be mapped to one of the virtual functions. The PIC enables hardware discovery/enumeration and loading of device drivers such that security isolation and interface performance are maintained.

  • Publication number: 20190005075
Abstract: A dataset management system (“system”) reduces the amount of data to be stored for future analyses. The system determines a sampling rate of the data based on a required level of accuracy, and samples the data at the determined sampling rate. Initially, all data transactions (“full dataset”) and the sampled data (“sampled dataset”) are logged and stored. Based upon a trigger condition, e.g., after a specified period, the full dataset and the sampled dataset are analyzed separately and the analysis results are compared. If the comparison is sufficiently similar (i.e., the sampling produces a sufficiently accurate set of data or a variance between the analysis results of the datasets is within a specified threshold), the system discontinues full data logging and stores only the sampled dataset. Further, the full dataset is deleted. The sampling thus reduces the required data volume significantly, thereby minimizing consumption of the storage space.

  • Publication number: 20190003772
Abstract: A method of operating a furnace having process tubes and multiple burners where it is desired to conform the temperatures of the process tubes to selected target temperature criterion. The present method provides a systematic and quantitative approach to determine how to adjust burner flow rates to result in desired tube wall temperatures, for example, using objective functions to decrease the probability that temperatures pertaining to the plurality of process tubes exceed their selected limit temperatures. An objective function can also be used to reduce the excess oxidant requirement for the furnace.

  • Patent number: 10167831
Abstract: A resilient seal member disposed in an alignment groove of an accumulator body centers the accumulator body in an oversized accumulator bore of a cylinder head to prevent assembly damage. The seal member can compress to allow the accumulator body to move off center within the accumulator bore so that an end may be received by and form a seal with a port of a fuel injector. The alignment groove and the seal member are configured so that cooling fluid can flow past the seal member when the accumulator body is installed. In one implementation, the accumulator body includes at least one fluid flow channel at the alignment groove having a depth greater than the alignment groove so fluid can flow through the channel to pass the seal member.

  • Patent number: 10163164
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for using data collected by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to generate insurance claim estimates that an insured individual may quickly review, approve, or modify. When an insurance-related event occurs, such as a vehicle collision, crash, or disaster, one or more UAVs are dispatched to the scene of the event to collect various data, including data related to vehicle or real property (insured asset) damage. With the insured's permission or consent, the data collected by the UAVs may then be analyzed to generate an estimated insurance claim for the insured. The estimated insurance claim may be sent to the insured individual, such as to their mobile device via wireless communication or data transmission, for subsequent review and approval. As a result, insurance claim handling and/or the online customer experience may be enhanced.

  • Publication number: 20180354540
Abstract: A shopping cart with sensor system is used by customers of a retail store to collect and scan items to be purchased. The shopping cart with sensor system includes a shopping cart and a shopping cart sensor system. Items to be purchased are placed in the shopping cart, where they are automatically scanned by the sensor system. The shopping cart sensor system includes a frame and a sensor coupled to the frame. The frame rotates with respect to the shopping cart so that the sensor can collect product information from items in the shopping cart. A first and a second light bar and a microcomputer are also coupled to the frame. The product information is used to ring up the items a customer wishes to purchase, so the customer does not have to visit a checkout station to have their items rung up.

  • Patent number: 10145684
Abstract: Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) may facilitate the generation of a virtual reconstruction model of a vehicle collision. UAVs may collect data (including images) related to the vehicle collision, such as with the insured's permission, which may be received by an external computing device associated with the insurer and utilized to perform a photogrammetric analysis of the images to determine vehicle impact points, the road layout at the scene of the collision, the speeds and directions of vehicles, etc. This data may be used to generate a virtual reconstruction model of the vehicle collision. An insurer may use the virtual reconstruction model to perform various insurance-related tasks, such as allocating fault to drivers or autonomous vehicles involved in the vehicle collision, and adjustment of insurance pricing based upon the fault allocation. As a result, innocent drivers or vehicles may not be unfairly penalized for vehicle collisions not their fault.

  • Patent number: 10149103
Abstract: Once a proximity beacon is installed within a venue, mobile devices receive signals transmitted by the proximity beacon. These mobile devices then report their own locations to an application server. These mobile devices also report a signal strength to the application server, the signal strength associated with the signal from the proximity beacon. The application server determines the location of the proximity beacon by triangulating based on the locations of the mobile devices and on the signal strengths from the mobile devices. The location of the proximity beacon is then transmitted to a front-end device that then displays the location of the proximity beacon on a map along with other locations of other proximity beacons. The map may also display range areas and battery levels of the proximity beacon, and any other data that can be gathered by the application server from the mobile devices or the proximity beacon.

  • Patent number: 10129728
Abstract: A wearable device associated with a guest in a venue stores a unique identification code. The unique identification code may correspond to guest information stored at one or more guest information servers. The guest information may include ticket information, room entitlements, vouchers, payment information, credit card information, or folio information. The wearable device transmits unique identification code to a venue scanner associated with a venue device. The venue device may obtain access to at least some of the guest information based on receipt of the unique identification code. The wearable device also includes a light source that may indicate a status of the guest or of the wearable device based on the colors and/or the blinking patterns emitted by the light source. The light source may, for example, indicate a guest's access permissions to portions of the venue.
