  • Patent number: 6859816
Abstract: First, at step S1, i=0 is set. At step S2, data comprising M samples is fetched. At step S3, an M-point DFT is applied to the data fetched at step S2 above. At step S4, an obtained y(k) is multiplied by a twist coefficient w(i, k). The result is placed in y(k). At step S5, the value in y(k) is overwritten to an array x which contains original data. The above processing is repeated N/M times through steps S6 and S7 until all the input data is processed. At step S9, an FFT with N/M (=2n) points is performed within the range of 0?k<M. Finally, at step S12, a sort is performed.

  • Patent number: 6681204
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for encoding an input signal on the time base through orthogonal transform involves removing the correlation of signal waveform on the basis of the parameters obtained by means of linear predictive coding (LPC) analysis and pitch analysis of the input signal on the time base prior to the orthogonal transform. The time base input signal from input terminal is sent to a normalization circuit section and a LPC analysis circuit. The normalization circuit section removes the correlation of the signal waveform and takes out the residue by an LPC inverse filter and pitch inverse filter and sends the residue to an orthogonal transform circuit section. The LPC parameters from the LPC analysis circuit and the pitch parameters from the pitch analysis circuit are sent to a bit allocation calculation circuit.

  • Patent number: 6611800
Abstract: The processing volume for codebook search for vector quantization is diminished by sending data representing an envelope of spectral components of the harmonics from a spectrum evaluation unit 148 of a sinusoidal analytic encoder 114 to a vector quantizer 116 for vector quantization, so that the degree of similarity between an input vector and all code vectors stored in the codebook is found by approximation for pre-selecting a smaller number of code vectors. From these pre-selected code vectors, such a code vector minimizing an error with respect to the input vector is ultimately selected. In this manner, a smaller number of candidate code vectors are pre-selected by pre-selection involving simplified processing and subsequently subjected to ultimate selection with high precision.

  • Patent number: 6593872
Abstract: An apparatus and method for preventing a computation error of band-by-band bit allocation between an encoder and a decoder. In the encoder, an input LSP (line spectrum pair) coefficient is quantized by a quantization device, and a quantized output is output. In a codebook referring section, the look up of a codebook in which computation results are prestored is performed by using an LSP index of the first stage, and band-by-band bit allocation information is created. LSP indexes for each quantization stage are supplied to a decoder. In the decoder, the look up of the codebook is performed using the LSP index, and dequantization is performed on the basis of the created band-by-band bit allocation information.
