  • Patent number: 7467895
Abstract: A separator for use in a linear guide apparatus including a guide rail, a slider, and a plurality of rollers which circulate along an endless circulation passage provided in the guide rail and the slider and having guide grooves. The separator includes a separator body interposed between the rollers and having a pair of roller contact surfaces respectively opposing outer peripheral surfaces of the adjacent rollers, and a pair of arm portions which are guided by the guide grooves. A surface of each of the arm portions opposing the guide groove is formed such that an opposition distance with respect to the guide groove becomes wider from a fixed end side of the arm portion toward a free end thereof.

  • Patent number: 7454330
Abstract: A speech encoding method and apparatus in which an input speech signal is divided in terms of blocks or frames as encoding units and encoded in terms of the encoding units, whereby explosive and fricative consonants can be impeccably reproduced, while there is an attenuation of the occurrence of foreign sounds being generated at a transient portion between voiced (V) and unvoiced (UV) portions, so that the speech with high clarity devoid of “stuffed” feeling may be produced. The encoding apparatus includes a first encoding unit for finding residuals of linear predictive coding (LPC) of an input speech signal for performing harmonic coding and a second encoding unit for encoding the input speech signal by waveform coding. The first encoding unit and the second encoding unit are used for encoding a voiced (V) portion and an unvoiced (UV) portion of the input signal, respectively.

  • Publication number: 20080134171
Abstract: A computer system including plural computers, a management console for installing a program in the computers and a storage subsystem coupled to each computer and management console. The storage subsystem includes a first storage unit shared by the computers and plural second storage units corresponding to the computers. The first storage unit stores a file related to each installed program and an installer program for installing a program. The second storage units each store an install agent and a control file accessed by the install agent. The management console includes an install manager for starting each install agent by switching on power to a corresponding computer. Upon starting, the install agent starts the installer program based on the control file. The installer program reads a related file from the first storage unit, and transfers it to the second storage unit of the corresponding computer, thereby installing the program.

  • Publication number: 20080069452
Abstract: A pattern area measuring method includes the steps of: acquiring image data of a pattern; dividing the pattern into partial patterns; calculating the areas of the partial patterns; and calculating the area of the pattern by summing up the areas of the partial patterns. The step of dividing the pattern into partial patterns may further include the steps of: dividing the pattern into fan-shaped partial patterns each having a central angle of a predetermined value; calculating the line profile on a line intersecting the center of the pattern and an edge of the pattern for each of the partial patterns; creating a differential profile; and detecting an edge position of the partial pattern by use of the line profile and the differential profile and then deriving a radius from the center position and the edge position.

  • Patent number: 7333034
Abstract: The present invention relates to a data processing apparatus, a method and apparatus for encoding, a method and apparatus for decoding, and a program, that allow a reduction in an algorithm delay. An interpolator 51 produces interpolated PCM data by performing R-times oversampling on original PCM data. A frame encoder 54 fetches a predetermined number of samples of the oversampled data as one frame, encodes the oversampled data on a frame-by-frame basis, and outputs resultant encoded data. A frame decoder 55 decodes the encoded data on a frame-by-frame basis at a rate R times higher than a predetermined normal rate. A decimator 56 decimates data obtained as a result of the decoding such that the number of samples is reduced to 1/R of the number of sampled included in the original data. The present invention is applicable, for example, to an IP telephone system.
