  • Patent number: 8551383
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for the localized working of a structural component that comprises a foam material reinforced by at least one strut at a working location. Firstly, the foam material is selectively removed, while leaving the at least one strut, within a strut connecting zone in the region of the working location. Subsequently, the strut connecting zone is filled with a filling material and the at least one strut is connected to the filling material in the strut connecting zone. From a further aspect, a sandwich component which comprises a foam core is provided. An embedding part is at least partially embedded in the foam core and at least partially surrounded by a layer of filling material. • Patent number: 8127450
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of producing a construction, in particular a sandwich construction for the aeronautical and aerospace fields, comprising the following steps. A heating material is initially applied on one side of a core construction material. In a further step a reinforcing element is introduced into the core construction material and the heating material in such a way that the reinforcing element extends through the core construction material and the heating material and has a portion which projects beyond the heating material. The heating material is then heated to soften the projecting portion at least in regions and said projecting portion is subsequently deformed using the softened region as a pivot point to engage the core construction material from behind and to form the construction. This method is distinguished in particular by the fact that it allows the portions to be heated substantially simultaneously, and not sequentially as in the state of the art.

  • Publication number: 20110135868
Abstract: To form a cutout reinforcement according to the invention for a sandwich construction, according to the invention two methods are combined to improve the strength characteristics of a braid core which preferably consists of foamed material. For this purpose, a braiding is combined with fibre bundles which are pulled through holes in the braid core. As a result, the cutout reinforcement according to the invention for a sandwich construction has particularly outstanding strength characteristics, while the component has only a low weight.

  • Patent number: 7937968
Abstract: In a known method for bonding components made of material with a high silicic acid content by means of a substance to substance bond, a SiO2-containing bonding mass is formed between connecting surfaces of the components. In order to provide for cost-efficient manufacture of a thermally stable composite, the invention proposes to generate a SiO2-containing bonding mass that is generic with regard to the material with a high silicic acid content, comprising the following procedural steps: provision of a slurry containing amorphous SiO2 particles; formation of a slurry mass between the connecting surfaces which are fixed in position with regard to each other; drying of the slurry mass; and solidification of the slurry mass by heating under formation of the SiO2-containing bonding mass. A component assembly manufactured according to the method of the invention shows high temperature resistance and thermal fatigue resistance and can also be used in contamination-sensitive applications.
