  • Patent number: 11012913
Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may provide, to a source base station (BS) and prior to a handover of the UE from the source BS to a target BS, information that identifies a set of transition capabilities of the UE. The UE may receive, from the source BS, a handover command or reconfiguration message after providing the information to the source BS. The UE may communicate, using a subset of the transition capabilities, with the target BS prior to the release. Numerous other aspects are provided.

  • Publication number: 20210136570
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to mechanisms for proximity service (ProSe) authorization and provisioning. A user equipment (UE) may be configured to support ProSe communication and may indicate this capability to a radio access network (RAN) and a core network during registration of the UE. Based on the ProSe indication, the RAN may select an access and mobility management function (AMF) that supports ProSe authorization and policy provisioning and forward a registration request indicating the UE supports ProSe communication to the selected AMF. Upon authorizing the UE for ProSe operation, the AMF may transmit a registration accept message including a ProSe supported indication to the UE. The UE may then initiate a ProSe session with another UE based on the ProSe supported indication in the registration accept message.

  • Publication number: 20210014924
Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) entity of a receiver device receives, from a radio link control (RLC) entity of the receiver device, a plurality of RLC data packets received from a transmitter device over an RLC unacknowledged mode (UM) data radio bearer (DRB) or RLC transparent mode (TM) DRB. The PDCP entity generates a plurality of PDCP data packets corresponding to the plurality of RLC data packets. The receiver device determines to send a PDCP status report indicating a reception status at the receiver device of the plurality of PDCP data packets and transmits the PDCP status report to a PDCP entity of the transmitter device. The receiver device receives, in response to sending the PDCP status report, one or more PDCP data packets of the plurality of PDCP data packets that were not successfully received at the receiver device.

  • Publication number: 20200413392
Abstract: Conditional handover (CHO) configurations may include random access channel (RACH) configuration information (e.g., beam quality thresholds, beam quality threshold offsets, one or more beams associated with configured contention free random access (CFRA) resources, one or more beams associated with configured contention based random access (CBRA) resources, or some combination thereof). A user equipment (UE) may, upon detection that a handover condition in a CHO configuration has been satisfied, select a target cell beam for transmission of a random access request based on the RACH configuration information included in the CHO configuration. In various examples, the selected beam may correspond to a highest quality beam with a highest quality beam measurement value above the beam quality threshold, a beam with an earliest configured CFRA resource or an earliest configured CBRA resource (e.g., if a corresponding beam measurement at least falls within the beam quality threshold offset), etc.

  • Publication number: 20200367101
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to wireless communications, and more particularly, handling header compression in scenarios with concurrent connections, such as make-before-break (MBB) handover or dual connectivity (DC) scenarios. A method of wireless communication performed by a user equipment (UE) can include concurrently communicating with a first base station (BS) on a connection with the first BS and with a second BS on a connection with the second BS during a handover procedure. The UE maintains a context for a header compression protocol for the connection with the first BS and the connection with the second BS. The concurrently communicating includes using the header compression protocol context for sending one or more packets, receiving one or more packets, or both.

  • Publication number: 20200351734
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for management of conditional handover (CHO) configurations. A source base station may configure a user equipment (UE) with one or more CHO configurations for multiple target base stations. The CHO configurations may provide, for each target base station, one or more associated conditions that may trigger the UE to initiate a handover to the particular target base station, or to deconfigure a CHO configuration, such as based on a measurement threshold of one or more target base station measurements, one or more source base station measurements, or combinations thereof. The CHO configurations may also include failure handling information for initiating one or more subsequent handovers responsive to a failure of an initial handover attempt.

  • Publication number: 20200336950
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for a handover procedure that allows a user equipment (UE) to keep both the source and the target base station until after handover is complete while using a single packet data convergence protocol (PDCP). In the procedure, a source base station may decide to configure bearers as split bearers during handover. Then, the source base station may transmit a handover request to the target base station, and the radio bearer configuration is added to the handover preparation and response messages. The target base station may transmit the decision on the proposed configuration in a handover response message to the source base station. The source base station may transmit a handover command to the UE with the radio bearer configuration, and the UE may configure its bearers and will maintain the split bearer configuration until the UE receives a new bearer configuration.
