  • Publication number: 20060166544
Abstract: When male and female housings are attached to each other, a side projection of a locking arm contacts and presses a side engaging part to bend the locking arm in a specific amount and overlap a side projection of the locking arm with a projection of the male housing. At this time, a main engaging part contacts and presses downward a main projection of the locking arm. Then, since the projection of the male housing is under the side projection, the locking arm is temporarily supported at both sides and bent in a bow shape vertically. Then, after the male housing is inserted into the female housing further, the bend of the locking arm is released, and simultaneously the main projection and the main engaging part engage with each other to complete the attachment between the male and female housings.

  • Publication number: 20060134964
Abstract: The present invention is to provide a cantilever structure connector without an extended portion of a main locking arm and provide also a locking feeling similar to that of a center impeller structure connector. When a male and female housings are connected to each other, rib protrusions disposed at inner walls of ribs abut to side protrusions and parts of side locking arms enter into between the main locking arms and the male housing. Accordingly, the main locking arms become temporarily a center impeller structure. When a center protrusion abuts to main protrusions, the main protrusions are subjected to a large downward force, or a large upward repulsive force.

  • Patent number: 5931700
Abstract: A connector housing has a body portion and a hood portion. An insertion detecting member for terminal lugs is movable from provisional locking position to full locking position inside the hood portion. A resilient, terminal-lug locking piece extends in each terminal accommodating cavity in the housing body portion to form a displacement permitting space on a side opposite a side where a terminal lug is inserted. The insertion detecting member has a main frame, insertion detectors corresponding to the displacement permitting spaces, and a pair of manipulating portions at opposite sides of the main frame. When in provisional locking position the manipulating portions are exposed at opposite sides of the housing body portion, and when in full locking position the insertion detectors move into the displacement permitting spaces. The insertion detecting member is easily movable from provisional locking position to full locking position inside the housing hood portion.

  • Patent number: 5775932
Abstract: An electrical connector is provided in which a male connector is fitted into a female connector in such a manner that terminals are prevented from being bent even if the male connector is mistakenly fitted so as to be slanted at an angle with respect to the female connector. The electrical connector includes a male connector for sliding insertion into a female connector. A locking arm is mounted on a upper wall of the male connector. A bending preventing member protrudes from an inner wall face of the female connector and extends forwardly toward an opening of the hood of the female connector. An escape portion is formed by recessing in a front end face of the locking arm of the male connector to allow the bending preventing member of the female connector to enter thereinto.

  • Patent number: 5755587
Abstract: A connector includes a first connector housing having a resiliently deflectable lock arm in an outer wall of the first connector housing and a second connector housing having a lock arm engaging with a locking piece fitted in the first connector housing. In the complete engaged state of the pair of connector housings, the lock arm engages with the locking piece so that the first and second connector housings are secured to each other. The connector further includes an engagement confirming member movably attached to the lock arm and an engagement retaining wall standing and positioned adjacently to the engagement confirming member. In the complete engagement of the pair of connector housings, the engagement confirming member is moved onto a top portion of the engagement retaining wall to prevent the lock arm from deflecting. The engagement confirming member is preferably attached movably in a substantially orthogonal direction to the engagement direction of the connector housings.

  • Patent number: 5666723
Abstract: The invention relates to a connector terminal and a method of producing the same. The terminal, even if small in size, has a large allowable maximum deflection, and is excellent in durability, and the terminal of a one-part type can be produced from a relatively inexpensive thin metal sheet, thereby reducing the manufacturing cost. More specifically, the terminal is formed from a single thin metal sheet, and has a receptive portion and a spring portion formed at a front portion of a base plate for engaging with a mating terminal, and a wire connecting portion formed at a rear portion of the base plate. The thickness of the spring portion is smaller than that of the remainder of the terminal. In a shaping step of a process including blanking and pressing, only the spring portion is rolled into a thickness smaller than that of the remainder.

  • Patent number: 5529515
Abstract: A connector is equipped with a front member in which a plurality of terminal containers for accommodating female terminal metal fittings are arranged in parallel in a transverse direction and resilient locking pieces of the terminal containers exposed forward are arranged in parallel in the transverse direction. The front member is composed of two through-hole portions. Each through-hole portion has jig insertion recesses continuously formed, wherein in the recess of jig insertion, respective substantial halves of two adjacent terminal containers appear, and the tapered guide surface formed on both edges of the recess of jig insertion partially overlap the periphery of the opening portion of each of the two terminal containers on the side of the resilient locking piece. Thus, a partner male terminal metal fittings can be smoothly guided into each terminal container through the front member provided at the connector housing.
