  • Patent number: 6327084
Abstract: The invention relates to a display system where polarized light rays from a display device impinge on a laminate at Brewster's angle or emerge therefrom at an angle equal to Brewster's angle. This laminate is a combination of a transparent platelike object and a functional film that is an optical rotatory film or a semitransparent film. The platelike object has a front major surface, facing the display device, and a back major surface. The display device has a polarizing member for polarizing light rays of the display device into S-wave or P-wave light rays. According to a first embodiment of the invention, the optical rotatory film is formed on the front or back major surface of the platelike object or in an inside of the platelike object, and S-wave light rays from the polarizing member are thrown against the front major surface of the laminate. With this, a part of the S-wave light rays is reflected from the front major surface of the laminate toward a viewer.

  • Patent number: 6259559
Abstract: A laminated glass to be used as a front windshield glass of an automotive vehicle, forming part of a head-up display system for displaying an image of light representing driving information on the windshield glass. The laminated glass comprises inboard-side and outboard-side glass plates of the vehicle. An intermediate film is disposed between and in contact with the inboard-side and outboard-side glass plates. A polarization-direction changing film is disposed between the first and second glass plates and bonded to the outboard-side glass plate with an adhesive containing an ultraviolet ray absorbing agent. The polarization-direction changing film functions to rotate a plane of polarization of light to be incident thereon.

  • Patent number: 6094223
Abstract: An automatic focus sensing device senses an in-focus position by using a high-frequency component in an image signal to step drive an imaging lens in the direction of the optical axis of the imaging lens while the image signal is being read in succession to the photoelectrical conversion and then integration of the light of an object incident on an image pickup device. The device generates, in non-synchronization with and independently of an image synchronization signal, a driving pulse fed to an imaging lens driving device for driving the imaging lens.

  • Patent number: 5947683
Abstract: For obtaining a highly compressed air in an axial compressor, a load per blade row must be reduced and blade rows must be increased in number by so much that the apparatus becomes unavoidably larger. The present invention provides an axial compressor stationary blade wherein a blade portion near an end wall face is twisted so as to coincide with a direction of a boundary layer flow occurring in the vicinity of the blade portion. This blade portion and a blade portion for the main flow are turned differently from each other over a distortion or twist angle, and thereby growth of the boundary layer flow is suppressed, an increase of losses is prevented, and the apparatus can be made compact.

  • Patent number: 5781288
Abstract: A method of inspecting the location of a polarization-direction changing film relative to a transparent plate at a predetermined position. The method comprises the following steps: (a) disposing a first polarizing plate to face a first surface of the transparent plate and at a standard position at which the first polarizing plate has inner and outer peripheries, in section, defining therebetween an area corresponding to a permissible range for location of a peripheral edge of the polarization-direction changing film; (b) disposing a second polarizing plate to face a second surface of the transparent plate, in which the polarization-direction changing film is located relative to the transparent plate; and (c) observing a locational relationship between the peripheral edge of the polarization-direction changing film and the area of the first polarizing plate through the second polarizing plate so as to make a judgment as to whether the peripheral edge of the.

  • Patent number: 5463582
Abstract: A semiconductor memory device enables multi-direction data access at a high speed with a simple circuit construction. The semiconductor memory device includes a plurality of word lines, a plurality of bit lines and a plurality of memory cells connected to the bit lines and word lines. A row decoder, connected to the word lines, selects one of the word lines in response to a row address signal. A selection circuit includes a plurality of column decoders and a direction decoder. Each column decoder receives a portion of a column address signal and the direction decoder selects one of three directions in response to a direction address signal. Each column decoder is selectively enabled based upon the direction address signal. Output circuitry outputs data read out from bit lines selected by the enabled column decoders. Thus, three-dimensional bit map data can be stored in two dimensions.

  • Patent number: 4916670
Abstract: A semiconductor memory device includes: a circuit for defining a cycle in response to a clock and a write enable signal and outputting a write control signal under a specific condition; a unit for inverting the clock to an inverted clock; a circuit for generating a write signal in response to the inverted clock when the write control signal is output; and a memory cell array in which a write access of data is carried out based on the write signal. Where a latch circuit is further provided which latches the write data and transmits the write data to the memory cell array in response to the clock or inverted clock and the write signal, an input terminal and an output terminal can be made common by making a latch timing of the write data different from that of the write enable signal, or the number of input terminals can be decreased by inputting the write data in a time sharing mode. This results in a decrease in scale of the whole circuit as a device.
