  • Patent number: 4914596
Abstract: A system and method for automatically controlling a vehicle speed to a desired cruise speed are disclosed in which whether after any one of command and release signals is outputted from the corresponding set/cruise, acceleration, resume, brake, clutch, and cancel switches, a control unit outputs a corresponding receipt signal via a corresponding output port is determined, whether the contents of the control command signals presently outputting through the respective control valves are equal to inverted levels at the respective control valve is determined, and a power supply to control valves for adjusting an operating variable of an engine driving force adjusting mechanism and the control unit is interrupted when at least one of the results of determinations indicates a negative result.

  • Patent number: 4451890
Abstract: A vehicle automatic speed control system responds to turning off of a restart switch so the system is activated in response to a control signal indicative of an error between actual vehicle speed and set speed and the restart switch switched off. The vehicle does not unexpectedly accelerate in response to misoperation of or damage to the restart switch or damage thereof.

  • Patent number: 4434469
Abstract: An automatic speed control system for an automotive vehicle for controlling the vehicle driving speed at a pre-set constant speed comprising a setting device for pre-setting as desired vehicle speed , a control for controlling the throttle valve position or the carburetor in order to keep the vehicle speed at the pre-set value, and an accelerator switch for resetting the pre-set value and renewing the pre-set value in the control system. A safety means is provided in the control system and is cooperative with a brake switch which is turned on while the brake is applied. The safety means becomes operative in response to turning on of the brake switch while the accelerator switch is in an ON condition.

  • Patent number: 4394739
Abstract: Automatic speed control system is provided which has circuitry responsive to the turning off of the system's restart switch. This circuitry activates the control upon detection of a control signal, generated as a function of the difference between the actual vehicle speed and the set speed, when the restart switch switches off. In the system according to the present invention, the vehicle is effectively prevented from unexpected acceleration caused by the misoperation of the restart switch or damage thereof.

  • Patent number: 4390948
Abstract: A navigation instrument comprises a first counter for counting travelling distance from a start point, a second counter for counting travelling time from starting, a means for setting a scheduled average vehicle speed, an arithmetic means for calculating average vehicle speed, the deviation of travelling distance from the scheduled distance and the deviation of travelling time from the scheduled time, and a display means for displaying the result of calculation. The first counter is capable of subtractively counting travelling distance in response to switching operation of a switching means which is incorporated to the first counter. The first counter is also incorporated with a means for stopping navigating operation which is operative when the first counter counts down the travelling distance until a given value.

  • Patent number: 4389537
Abstract: A voice warning system for an automobile vehicle provided with an automatic speed control device, by which the driver is informed of the vehicle speed, in voice form, when operating a set switch for controlling the vehicle with the device. The volume level of the voice form signal is determined in accordance with a volume setting of a radio in the vehicle. The voice warning system comprises a vehicle speed sensor, a component for generating a signal representative of the volume of the radio, an interface, a voice synthesizing system, and an electronic volume control for the synthesized message, in addition to the automatic speed control device and a set switch therefor.

  • Patent number: 4382178
Abstract: An electronic trip meter for an automotive vehicle comprises a memory circuit to store sector distances between a start point and intermediate and final destinations, a distance presetting circuit to determine alarm points near to and before intermediate and final destinations, a counter to count the actual distance travelled from the last destination, a comparator to output a signal from the time when the value in the counter becomes equal to that in the distance presetting circuit until the time when the value in the counter becomes equal to that in the memory circuit, an alarm device driven by the comparator output signal, and a display device. Such an electronic trip meter displays the remaining distance to the next destination while the comparator is sending out an output signal; that is, at any intermediate points in between an alarm-point and the next destination. At other times the display shows a value representative of the total distance travelled.

  • Patent number: 4371940
Abstract: A navigation instrument for use with a roadway vehicle comprises an arithmetic means producing three data signals showing the average speed of the vehicle, the deviation of the travelling distance from a scheduled one, and the deviation of the travelling time from a scheduled one, and a display means for displaying the three data sequentially fed from the arithmetic means through a signal selector means. The arithmetic means includes travelling distance/time deviation accumulating means for adding the deviation of the travelling distance/time with respect to the average speed initially set to the deviations of the travelling distance/time whenever the average speed is altered. Thus, the navigation instrument of the present invention makes it possible to calculate and display the travelling distance/time deviation accumulated value when the average speed of the vehicle is altered on the way of vehicle travelling.

  • Patent number: 4359714
Abstract: A voice warning system for an automotive vehicle such that warning information is first indicated to the driver in voice form when car-radio sound volume is reduced, and next in alarm sound form, without reducing the car-radio sound volume, until the driver takes a proper action. The system thus improved comprises a discriminator having a memory, a coincidence counter, a gate, AND circuits, and OR circuits, and an alarm generator, in addition to sensors and a voice output unit.
