Abstract: An encoder may include a luma transform, a transformer, and a chroma transform. The luma transform may determine a linear luminance value based upon a plurality of primary color values of a pixel. The transformer may generate a transformed luminance value based upon the linear luminance value and a plurality of transformed color values based upon corresponding more than one of the primary color values of the pixel. The chroma transform may determine a plurality of chroma values based upon corresponding plurality of transformed color values and the transformed luminance value of the pixel.

Abstract: Disclosed are methods for identifying early-stage non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients who will have an unfavorable prognosis for the recurrence of lung cancer after surgical resection. The methods are based in part on the discovery that chromosomal copy number gains at Chr19, 34.7 Mb-35.6 Mb can be used for prognostic classification. The methods preferably use fluorescence in situ hybridization with fluorescently labeled nucleic acid probes to hybridize to patient samples to quantify the chromosomal copy number of this genetic locus.

Abstract: A method or system for multi-user access of a facility including multiple controlled locations is disclosed. In one step, an image of a person is obtained from a data store. An image capture device is correlated to a controlled location. An image is received for the controlled location. One or more sub-images of the image are determined. At least one of the sub-images is compared with the image of the person. Information is retrieved for the person and a control rule is retrieved for the controlled location. The system determines whether the person is allowed to access the controlled location. Depending on the determination, the system then sends a signal indicating access availability to the controlled location for the person.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and/or system for monitoring a user and transmitting an emergency notification is disclosed. The apparatus can monitor a user's overall wellness and adherence to a therapy regimen. The apparatus can also detect a variety of emergency situations affecting the user. For example, the apparatus can detect a fall affecting the user, the activation of an emergency indicator by the user, or an emergency based on vital signs and the overall wellness of the user. The apparatus can generate and transmit an alert notification in response to determining an emergency is affecting the user. The apparatus can select the form of the alert and the network on which to transmit the alert. The apparatus can determine the form of the alert and the network based on the severity of the emergency and the strength of the networks available to the apparatus. The form of the alert and the transmission network selected can optimize the likelihood of the alert notification being successfully transmitted.

Abstract: A device that can facilitate monitoring a wearer of the device and alerting emergency personnel of an emergent event can comprise a first sensor configured to generate elevation data that represents an elevation of the device, a second sensor configured to collect vital sign data of the wearer, and a third sensor configured to generate a geographic position of the device. The device also includes a processor configured to determine an elevation of a floor, and a floor location of the device. The processor is also configured to detect an emergent event affecting the wearer based on the first or second sensor. The device also includes a transmitter configured to transmit an initial alert in response to detecting an emergent event. The transmitter also configured to transmit a secondary alert in response to generating the geographic position and determining the floor location of the device within a pre-set time period of the emergent event.

Abstract: In a video coding system, a common video sequence is coded multiple times to yield respective instances of coded video data. Each instance may be coded according to a set coding parameters derived from a target bit rate of a respective tier of service. Each tier may be coded according to a constraint that limits a maximum coding rate of the tier to be less than a target bit rate of another predetermined tier of service. Having been coded according to the constraint facilitates dynamic switching among tiers by a requesting client device processing resources or communication bandwidth changes. Improved coding systems to switch among different coding streams may increase quality of video streamed while minimizing transmission and storage size of such content.

Abstract: A cross-page prefetching method, apparatus, and system are disclosed, which can improve a prefetching hit ratio of a prefetching device, and further improve efficiency of memory access. The method includes: receiving an indication message, sent by a cache, that a physical address is missing, where the indication message carries a mapped-to first physical address and contiguity information of a first physical page to which the first physical address belongs; acquiring a prefetching address according to the first physical address and a step size that is stored in a prefetching device; and if a page number of a physical page to which the prefetching address belongs is different from a page number of the first physical page, and it is determined, according to the contiguity information of the first physical page, that the first physical page is contiguous, prefetching data at the prefetching address.

A sensor may be activated on the wristband monitoring device to collect vital sign information of a user. The vital sign information of the user may be wirelessly transmitted from the wristband monitoring device and received by the faceplate device. Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for processing high quality video data, such as data having a higher than standard bit depth, a high dynamic range, or a wide or custom color gamut, to be compatible with conventional encoders and decoders without significant loss of quality. High quality data is encoded into a plurality of layers with a base layer having the standard quality data and one or more higher quality layers. Decoding systems and methods may map the base layer to the dynamic range or color gamut of the enhancement layer, combine the layers, and map the combined layers to a dynamic range or color gamut appropriate for the target display. Each of the standard quality and the high quality data may be encoded as a plurality of tiers of increasing quality and reference lower level tiers as sources of prediction during predictive coding.

The keyboard layout data for all the configuration symbols are linked in a sequence determined by each symbol sequence number and the total number of the configuration symbols. All the keyboard layout data is processed to configure the reader during the configuration procedure.
