  • Publication number: 20140336950
Abstract: Clustering methods are disclosed including a hidden Markov model (HMM) based clustering algorithm having particular applicability for identifying tumor subtypes using array comparative genomic hybridization (aCGH) DNA copy number data. In one embodiment, clusters of tumor samples are modeled with a mixture of HMMs where each HMM fits a cluster of samples. With respect to this embodiment, a computationally efficient and fast clustering algorithm takes only a computational time of O(n), has less than half the error rate of non-negative matrix factorization (NMF) clustering, and can locate the optimal number of groups automatically (e.g., as applied to a data set including glioma aCGH data).

  • Publication number: 20140318933
Abstract: Disclosed is a handle locking device, including a first frame, a first snap hook and a second frame. A second snap hook is provided on the first frame; the first snap hook is rotatably mounted on the first frame; the second frame is rotatably mounted on the first frame; a protruding portion is formed on the second frame; and the protruding portion can push the first snap hook towards the first frame. By having the first snap hook and second snap hook disposed asymmetrically on the first frame, accidental mounting of the “OFF” position of the handle locking device in the “ON” position of the circuit breaker during installation by an operator can be avoided. Moreover, since the protruding portion can push the first snap hook towards the first frame, forced deformation of the snap claw and second snap hook can be prevented.

  • Publication number: 20140321534
Abstract: Video coding systems and methods are provided that protect against various artifacts (e.g., banding artifacts) in decoded frame content. The embodiments to protect against introducing artifacts include pre-processing the input video frame, controlling the encoding parameters and/or post-processing the decoded video frame. A method for encoding a frame may include calculating a dark-scene score for the frame based on measured statistics of the frame. The dark-scene score may be compared to a threshold to determine if the banding artifacts may be present in the frame. Based on the comparison, filtering parameters for the frame may be altered to reduce the amount of noise filtered from the frame. The frame may be filtered based on the altered filtering parameters and encoded.

  • Patent number: 8842723
Abstract: A video coding/decoding system builds implied reference frames from a plurality of reference frames developed during coding. Coded data of reference pictures are decoded and stored in a reference picture cache. An implied reference frame may be derived from a plurality of reference frames and may be stored in the reference picture cache. Thereafter, coding of new input data may proceed using the implied reference frame as a source of prediction. The method may be used to identify visual elements such as background elements that may persist in video over a longer period that can be captured by the system under conventional reference frames assembly and eviction. Implied reference frames may be built at both an encoder and a decoder to serve as sources of prediction.

  • Publication number: 20140166448
Abstract: Disclosed is a handle locking device including a first frame, a first hook and a second frame, wherein a second hook is provided on the first frame. The first and second hooks are rotatably installed on the first frame, and the second frame capable of fixing the first hook and the first frame. Since the handle locking device is only be installable on a circuit breaker by mating between the first hook and a first installation part of the circuit breaker and mating between the second hook and a second installation part of the circuit breaker, an operator is prevented from unintentionally setting an “OFF” position of the handle locking device in an “ON” position of the circuit breaker during installation. The first hook is rotatably installed on the first frame, so that the handle locking device can be conveniently and rapidly installed on or demounted from the circuit breaker.

  • Publication number: 20130329781
Abstract: A vide coding server may code a common video sequence into a plurality of coded data streams, each coded data stream representing the video sequence coded using coding parameters tailored for a respective transmission bit rate. The coding may cause a set of transmission units from among the coded data streams to include coded video data from a common point of the video sequence, and a first coded frame of each transmission unit of the set to be a synchronization frame. A manifest file may be built representing an index of transmission units of the respective coded data streams. The coded data streams and manifest file may be stored by the server for delivery to a client device. During download and decode, the chunks may be decoded efficiently even when switching among streams because the first frame in each chunk is a synchronization frame.

  • Publication number: 20130235942
Abstract: Video coding systems and methods protect against banding artifacts in decoded image content. According to the method, a video coder may identify, from content of pixel blocks of a frame of video data, which pixel blocks are likely to exhibit banding artifacts from the video coding/decoding processes. The video coder may assemble regions of the frame that are likely to exhibit banding artifacts based on the identified pixel blocks' locations with respect to each other. The video coder may apply anti-banding processing to pixel blocks within one or more of the identified regions and, thereafter, may code the processed frame by a compression operation.
