  • Patent number: 7091696
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for regulating state of charge in a battery assembly in which respective voltages across unit cells can be equalized in a short time. Among a plurality of unit cells B1 to B4 . . . Bn, the unit cell having the largest voltage across the cell is referred to as the largest unit cell, and the unit cell having the smallest voltage across the cell is referred to as the smallest unit cell. Electric charge is transferred from the largest unit cell to a capacitor CB so that the voltage across the capacitor CB may be made higher than the voltage across the largest unit cell. Thereafter, the electric charge is transferred from the capacitor CB to the smallest unit cell thereby to equalize the voltages across the unit cells.

  • Patent number: 7050008
Abstract: In a rotatable antenna unit capable of being externally rotated away from and folded in a portable wireless device, an antenna detachment mechanism is provided, the antenna detachment mechanism composed of a bearing for rotatably supporting the antenna unit on the device by inserting therein and holding a pivot axis mounted on the device and an opening formed by cutting a part of the bearing. As a result, when an excessive external force is applied to the antenna unit being in an upright position, the opening is widened and the antenna unit comes off the portable wireless device. This prevents the antenna unit from being broken.

  • Patent number: 7034504
Abstract: A microcomputer monitors, on the basis of outputs from a current sensor and voltage sensor, a voltage drop due to an internal resistance when the drop in the terminal voltage due to polarization occurring during the discharge of a battery is saturated, and a dischargeable capacity of the battery corresponding to the value resulting when the saturated voltage drop of the terminal voltage is subtracted from the chargeable capacity of the battery. Such a configuration provide a battery status monitoring device capable of knowing the battery status correctly, a saturation polarization detecting method which is useful to know the charging state of the battery and a dischargeable capacity detecting method.

  • Publication number: 20050204761
Abstract: Heating value P[W] generated at an IGBT is calculated, and a temperature difference ?T?j [° C.] between a temperature Tw [° C.] of cooling water circulating in a cooling system and a temperature Tj [° C.] of an IGBT is calculated based on thermal resistance R [° C./W] of the cooling system. A temperature rise ?Tj [° C.] with transient influences eliminated is then calculated based on the calculated temperature difference ?T?j [° C.], and the temperature Tj [° C.] (=Tw [° C.]+?Tj [° C.]) of the IGBT is calculated.
