  • Patent number: 6261634
Abstract: When a thin film is formed on a flexible and filmy substrate by a vapor phase method, the substrate is prevented from warping to be caused by the internal stress remaining in the thin film. When the thin film is formed by the vapor phase method, the substrate is previously curved so that the stress acts in the direction canceling the internal stress remaining in the thin film to be formed prior to the filming. Accordingly, the stress of the curved substrate cancels out the stress remaining in the thin film formed on the substrate. The substrate having a thin film formed thereon is not warped, the stress in the interface between the thin film formed and the substrate is removed, and the thin film has no cracks to be caused by the stress.

  • Publication number: 20010004424
Abstract: When any of the functions: copier function, printer function and facsimile function, are not being performed, the function information display portion provides display messages ‘Copier available’, ‘Printer available’ and Fax available’, using the display areas equal in size, arranged in the vertical direction. When a print request is given from an external apparatus, the function information display portion provides a display message ‘Printer function engaged’ along with the image processing operating conditions and provides display messages ‘Copier function partly available’ and ‘Facsimile function partly available’ in the left and right halves of the display section. While the printer function is in progress, the information relating to the printer function is displayed in the display area four times as large as that for the copier function and that for the facsimile function.

  • Patent number: 6212030
Abstract: A clamping structure for disk drive for receiving a disk includes a spindle hub, a spacer, and a clamp ring. The spindle hub has a flange at a first end thereof. The flange has a first protruding portion. The discs are stacked on the first protruding portion. The first spacer is interposed between adjacent ones of the disks. The clamp ring is fixed to a second end of the spindle hub. The clamp ring has a second protruding portion for biasing the disks toward the flange of the spindle hub. In a process of forming a holder arm of the disk drive, the tip of a holder arm is contoured by wire cutting method after the holder armed is roughly formed from a metal body. In the wire cutting method, a voltage is placed between the metal body and the wire. The tip of the holder is contoured by the wire by bringing the wire into contact with the metal body.

  • Patent number: 6183816
Abstract: In an apparatus for fabricating a carbon coating, an object such as a magnetic recording medium is disposed on a side of an electrode connected to a high-frequency power supply. Ultrasonic vibrations are supplied to the object. Discharge is generated between the electrode connected to the high-frequency power supply and a grounded electrode to fabricate a carbon coating on the surface of the object. Also, an electrode interval is set to 6 mm or less, pressure between the electrodes is set to 15 Torr to 100 Torr, whereby high-density plasma is generated to form an ion sheath on an anode side. Therefore, a coating is fabricated on the surface of the object by bombardment of ions.

  • Patent number: 6101995
Abstract: An auxiliary part mounting bracket for an in-line multi-cylinder engine. An oil pump, an auto-tensioner, an alternator, a water pump and a compressor are preassembled on the auxiliary part mounting bracket to form an assembly. This assembly is fixed to a side of the engine cylinder block by six bolts. One bolt is threadedly inserted into the cylinder block through a space defined between the upper oil pump and auto-tensioner and the lower alternator and water pump; two bolts are threadedly inserted into the cylinder block through a space defined between the upper positioned alternator and water pump and the lower positioned compressor. Thus, it is possible to enhance the assembling operation, when the plurality of auxiliary parts are fixed to an engine body through the auxiliary part mounting bracket.
