  • Publication number: 20020084551
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for making a silicon balloon catheter in which a first tube having its outer diameter slightly smaller than that of a desired catheter is formed by an extruding method, mold lubricant is coated at a portion of a balloon injection opening, a thin film type second tube is formed at the coated outer surface of the first tube by a second extruding, and then the catheter is vulcanized and cut. As a result, when liquid is injected to an expansion tube, the second tube is separated from the first tube, thereby performing a function as a balloon.

  • Publication number: 20010033172
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method of calculating capacitance between conductive patterns of an integrated circuit (IC), comprising defining a mesh of nodes in space between at least two electrodes, calculating the electric potential at each said node, and calculating the parasitic capacitance between said electrodes.

  • Patent number: 5978253
Abstract: Integrated circuit memory devices include a gate oxide insulating layer on a surface of a semiconductor substrate containing a bulk region of first conductivity type and spaced source and drain regions of second conductivity type therein extending to the surface. First and second separate control gates are also preferably provided in each unit cell and extend opposite the surface. A ferroelectric insulating layer is provided between the first and second control gates and acts as a nonvolatile data storage medium when it is polarized in a predetermined state. A floating gate is also provided having a preferred C-shape when viewed in transverse cross-section. In particular, the floating gate is provided to have a first extension disposed between the first control gate and the first electrically insulating layer and a second extension disposed between the first control gate and the ferroelectric insulating layer.

  • Patent number: 5676824
Abstract: A water purifier includes a replaceable pre-processing filter, a washable membrane, and a replaceable post-processing filter through which potable water is sequentially conducted. A controller determines a total use time of the filters and membrane and compares the total use time with a reference time for replacement of the filters and washing of the membrane. When the total use time for the filters has reached the reference time, visual and audio indicators are activated. When the total use time for the membrane has reached the reference time, a valve is actuated which permits potable water to flow across and clean the membrane and then be discharged to waste.

  • Patent number: 5516881
Abstract: Aminoxyl-containing radical is provided in polymers and copolymers by replacing a hydroxyl moiety in a carboxyl group at a chain end of a starting material biodegradable polymer or copolymer with imino or oxy linked to aminoxyl-containing radical to form an amide linkage or an oxycarbonyl linkage at the chain end of biocompatible polymers or copolymers to the aminoxyl-containing radical. Preferred starting material polymers and copolymers are prepared from the hydroxy alkyl carboxylic acid monomers glycolic acid and lactic acid. Preferred aminoxyl-containing radical is 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxy. Product polymers are useful for aminoxyl-containing radical treatment of tumors, and to increase the efficiency of chemotherapy and ionizing radiation therapy of tumors and for the reconstruction of injured, diseased, or aged human blood vessels.

  • Patent number: 5485496
Abstract: Biomaterial medical devices or products, e.g., absorbable sutures or joint prostheses components, are gamma irradiation sterilized in the substantial absence of oxygen (e.g., vacuum treatment to 5.times.10.sup.-6 torr) while being maintained at a temperature about that of liquid nitrogen, with improved strength loss resistance compared to gamma irradiation sterilization under ambient conditions.
