  • Patent number: 11141226
Abstract: A system and method for augmenting an endoscopic display during a medical procedure including capturing a real-time image of a working space within a body cavity during a medical procedure. A feature of interest in the image is identified and an overlay is displayed on the image marking the feature. Computer vision is used to detect in real time changes in the image that are indicative of the feature of interest being at least partially obscured. In response to such detected changes, a quality of the overlay is altered, e.g. to make it more bright or opaque, based on the change in visibility of the feature of interest in the image.

  • Publication number: 20210307830
Abstract: In a system and method for assessing tissue excision comprise, first 3-dimensional data is acquired for a surgical region of interest from which tissue is to be excised, the first data defining initial geometry of tissue in the region of interest. A desired excision parameter, such as depth or shape, is determined and tissue is excised from the region of interest. Second 3-dimensional data for the region of interest is then acquired, the second scan data defining post-excision geometry of the tissue in the region of interest. The first and second data is compared to determine whether the desired excision parameter has been reached. The 3-dimensional data may be scan data acquired using a 3D or 2D endoscope, and/or it may be derived from kinematic data generated as a result of moving an instrument tip over the region of interest.

  • Patent number: 11132457
Abstract: A system is provided for controlling access to data stored in a cloud-based storage service. Data associated with a user account is stored at the cloud-based storage service. A portion of the data is associated with a heightened authentication protocol, a first request receiving, at the cloud-based storage service, for an application to access data that is associated with the heightened authentication protocol. The first request is authenticated based on the heightened authentication protocol. In response to authenticating the first request, permission is granted to the application to access the data that is associated with the heightened authentication protocol. The permission is time-limited. It is determined that the application is editing the data that is associated with the heightened authentication protocol. Permission for the application to access the data while the application is editing the data is temporarily extended.

  • Publication number: 20210257897
Abstract: Described herein are latching devices where relative speed of movement between members is in part controlled or reduced via eddy current formation and in part controlled or relative motion stopped via a latch arrangement. Various embodiments are described, one being use of a conductive member; at least one magnetic field and a latch member that, prior to latching, moves independently to the at least one conductive member. A kinematic relationship exists between the conductive member and at least one magnetic field that enables the conductive member to move at a different speed relative to the magnetic field on application of an energizing force, thereby inducing an eddy current drag force by relative movement of the conductive member in the magnetic field. The eddy current drag force resulting causes movement of the conductive member causing the conductive member to engage the latch member thereby halting movement between the at least one conductive member and the at least one latch member.
