  • Publication number: 20200323460
Abstract: A system and method for rehabilitation and recovery using adaptive surface electromyographic sensing and visualization is disclosed. The system uses surface electromyography (sEMG) sensors to identify signals of intent from patients with physical disabilities and then uses these signals to interact with a computer system designed to create repetitive practice In a manner that promotes neurological recovery. A machine teaming module analyses body signals picked up during patient movement attempts and converts these body signals to a visual representation of the intended movement by way of a virtual body or virtual body part displayed on a computer display, display glasses, or the like. The system thus allows for very early patient therapy, providing early benefits to rehabilitation therapy not heretofore possible. The virtual reality or augmented reality environment provides a patient with very early visual reinforcement of beneficial muscle activation patterns.

  • Publication number: 20200315740
Abstract: In a surgical system in which surgical instruments are manipulated using robotic arms that move in response to user input from a plurality of input devices. Images capturing an instrument positioned within view of a camera are received. At least one characteristic of the surgical instrument is determined by the system based on the image data. The system automatically assigns the surgical instrument to a user input device, or controls movement of the robotic manipulator carrying the instrument, based on the at least one characteristic. The surgical instrument is then robotically maneuvered by the corresponding robotic arm based on user input to the user input device.

  • Publication number: 20200304481
Abstract: A system is provided for facilitating access to data stored in a cloud-based storage service. Data associated with a user account is stored at the cloud-based storage service. A portion of the data is associated with a heightened authentication protocol. A request for an application to receive data that is associated with the heightened authentication protocol is received at the cloud-based storage service. In response to the request, the request is authenticated based on the heightened authentication protocol. In response to authenticating the request, permission is granted for the application to receive the data that is associated with the heightened authentication protocol. In response to a locking of the data that is associated with the heightened authentication protocol, an indication that the data is unavailable is sent to the application.

Abstract: A system is provided for controlling access to data stored in a cloud-based storage service. A first request is received to access data stored at the cloud-based storage service, the data associated with a user account. The first request is authenticated based on a username and password associated with the user account. A second request is received for a file that is stored in an area associated with a heightened authentication protocol. The heightened authentication protocol is performed to authenticate the second request. In response to authenticating the second request, permission is granted to a temporary strong authentication state. • Publication number: 20200304516
Abstract: A system is provided for controlling access to data stored in a cloud-based storage service. Data associated with a user account is stored at the cloud-based storage service. A first request to cause a portion of the data to be associated with a heightened authentication protocol is received. In response, the portion of the data is caused to require the heightened authentication protocol for access. A second request for a file that is stored in the area that is associated with the heightened authentication protocol is received. The second request is authenticated based on the heightened authentication protocol. In response to authenticating the second request, permission is granted to access the file. In response to a failure to authenticate the second request, access to the file is denied, while access to files stored in other areas associated with the user account is allowed.

Abstract: A system and method for augmenting an endoscopic display during a medical procedure including capturing a real-time image of a working space within a body cavity during a medical procedure. A feature of interest in the image is identified and an overlay is displayed on the image marking the feature. Computer vision is used to detect in real time changes in the image that are indicative of the feature of interest being at least partially obscured. In response to such detected changes, a quality of the overlay is altered, e.g. to make it more bright or opaque, based on the change in visibility of the feature of interest in the image.
