  • Publication number: 20200297433
Abstract: A system and method for augmenting an endoscopic display during a medical procedure including capturing a real-time image of a working space within a body cavity during a medical procedure. A feature of interest in the image is identified and an overlay is displayed on the image marking the feature. Computer vision is used to detect in real time changes in the image that are indicative of the feature of interest being at least partially obscured. In response to such detected changes, a quality of the overlay is altered, e.g. to make it more bright or opaque, based on the change in visibility of the feature of interest in the image.

Abstract: A system is provided for controlling access to data stored in a cloud-based storage service. Data associated with a user account is stored at the cloud-based storage service. A portion of the data is associated with a heightened authentication protocol. a first request receiving, at the cloud-based storage service, for an application to access data that is associated with the heightened authentication protocol. The first request is authenticated based on the heightened authentication protocol. In response to authenticating the first request, permission is granted to the application to access the data that is associated with the heightened authentication protocol. The permission is time-limited. It is determined that the application is editing the data that is associated with the heightened authentication protocol. Permission for the application to access the data while the application is editing the data is temporarily extended.

  • Patent number: 10771992
Abstract: There is provided a node that includes radio circuitry that wirelessly connects to other devices in a wireless network using either a first radio configuration or a second radio configuration. Scan circuitry determines a first measurement related to using the radio circuitry to connect to an analysed device in the other devices in the first radio configuration and a second measurement related to using the radio circuitry to connect to the analysed device in the second radio configuration. Metric calculation circuitry calculates, for each device in the other devices, a metric, wherein each metric is calculated by applying a first weighting greater than zero to the first measurement obtained for that device and a second weighting greater than zero to the second measurement obtained for that device. Selection circuitry adapted to select one of the other devices in dependence on the metric calculated for each of the other devices.

  • Publication number: 20200251975
Abstract: Described herein are latching devices where relative speed of movement between members is in part controlled or reduced via eddy current formation and in part controlled or relative motion stopped via a latch arrangement. Various embodiments are described, one being use of a conductive member; at least one magnetic field and a latch member that, prior to latching, moves independently to the at least one conductive member. A kinematic relationship exists between the conductive member and at least one magnetic field that enables the conductive member to move at a different speed relative to the magnetic field on application of an energizing force, thereby inducing an eddy current drag force by relative movement of the conductive member in the magnetic field. The eddy current drag force resulting causes movement of the conductive member causing the conductive member to engage the latch member thereby halting movement between the at least one conductive member and the at least one latch member.

  • Publication number: 20200205902
Abstract: A method of using a surgical robotic system includes positioning a surgical instrument in a body cavity, the surgical instrument being one that is carried by a robotic arm. An image of an operative site within the body cavity is captured and used to identify a structure to be avoided. A user uses an input device to give input to the robotic system to cause movement of the surgical instrument at the site. The system determines determining whether the surgical instrument is approaching contact with the structure and, if it is, initiates an avoidance step.

  • Publication number: 20200196609
Abstract: Methods and compositions are provided which employ a silencing element that, when ingested by a pest, such as a Coleopteran plant pest or a Diabarotica plant pest, decrease the expression of a target sequence in the pest. In specific embodiments, the decrease in expression of the target sequence controls the pest and thereby the methods and compositions are capable of limiting damage to a plant. The present invention provides various target polynucleotides set forth in any one of SEQ ID NOS: 1-236 or active variants and fragments thereof, wherein a decrease in expression of one or more the sequences in the target pest controls the pest (i.e., has insecticidal activity). Further provided are silencing elements which when ingested by the pest decrease the level of the target polypeptide and thereby control the pest. In specific embodiment, the pest is D. virgifera virgifera, D. barberi, D. speciosa, or D. undecimpunctata howardi.
