  • Publication number: 20190136765
Abstract: A durable light weight, high temperature acoustic CMC liner system. A thin ceramic matrix composite skin, also referred to as a facesheet, forms an outer layer of a cell in the CMC liner system, forming the boundary with the flow of hot gases in the exhaust. A backplate forms the opposite boundary for the cell. The truss structure is formed between the backplate and the facesheet and provides the cell with strength. When the CMC system replaces the metal liner, the backplate thickness is increased so that it is about the thickness of the liner system that it replaces. The truss structure extends between the backplate and the facesheet, forming channels or volumetric spaces. These channels or volumetric spaces are filled with high temperature air permeable acoustic materials that attenuate sound propagated by cooling air in the acoustic range.

  • Publication number: 20190116512
Abstract: There is provided a node that includes radio circuitry that wirelessly connects to other devices in a wireless network using either a first radio configuration or a second radio configuration. Scan circuitry determines a first measurement related to using the radio circuitry to connect to an analysed device in the other devices in the first radio configuration and a second measurement related to using the radio circuitry to connect to the analysed device in the second radio configuration. Metric calculation circuitry calculates, for each device in the other devices, a metric, wherein each metric is calculated by applying a first weighting greater than zero to the first measurement obtained for that device and a second weighting greater than zero to the second measurement obtained for that device. Selection circuitry adapted to select one of the other devices in dependence on the metric calculated for each of the other devices.

  • Publication number: 20190020259
Abstract: Described herein are latching devices where relative speed of movement between members is in part controlled or reduced via eddy current formation and in part controlled or relative motion stopped via a latch arrangement. Various embodiments are described, one being use of a conductive member; at least one magnetic field and a latch member that, prior to latching, moves independently to the at least one conductive member. A kinematic relationship exists between the conductive member and at least one magnetic field that enables the conductive member to move at a different speed relative to the magnetic field on application of an energizing force, thereby inducing an eddy current drag force by relative movement of the conductive member in the magnetic field. The eddy current drag force resulting causes movement of the conductive member causing the conductive member to engage the latch member thereby halting movement between the at least one conductive member and the at least one latch member.
