  • Patent number: 9106881
Abstract: A tagging system provides a mechanism for inserting tags into an audio or video television broadcast stream. The tags contain command and control information that the receiver translates and acts upon. The receiver receives the broadcast stream and detects and processes the tags within the broadcast stream which is stored on a storage device that resides on the receiver. Program material from the broadcast stream is played back to the viewer. The receiver performs the appropriate actions in response to the tags. A one-touch recording option is provided. An icon is displayed to the viewer telling the viewer that an advertised program is available for recording at a future time. The viewer presses a single button on an input device causing the receiver to schedule the program for recording.

  • Publication number: 20150213035
Abstract: Modern utilities are increasingly installing smart meters, which can typically generate hundreds of millions of data points daily. Such a massive volume of data is unwieldy to manage with the databases in current utility interface platforms. A solution converts the data to canonical documents and indexes some or all the data points such that a freeform search engine can be used to search for and access the data, resulting in a much more convenient and faster retrieval of data.

  • Publication number: 20150198238
Abstract: A vehicle shifter for use with a transmission is provided that is mountable on a transmission and can operate the transmission via an operating member held by a housing. The operating member may engage the transmission with a first end, and may be actuated by a user via a shift knob adapter at a second end. The operating member may be limited in its movement by a pin member, which is configured to engage the housing. The pin member may be urged towards a neutral position by opposingly positioned bias members. In some cases, the shift knob adapter may be offset from the second end of the operating member by a connector plate, and may be adjustable via splined connections. The splines may cooperate with the connector plate to allow the shift knob adapter to be maintained in a chosen rotational orientation.

  • Patent number: 9081538
Abstract: The methods and apparatuses described herein include a data center having a three-level roof structure including an overarching rainfly roof to protect the data center from severe weather events. The three-level roof structure further includes a secondary roof structure below the rainfly roof structure as well as a lower redundant roof structure coupled together. A data hall within the data center has a ceiling below the lower redundant roof structure and is adapted to store a plurality of cabinets to hold electronic equipment. The lower redundant roof structure can be coupled with the secondary roof structure using an airtight seal such that the data center is airtight allowing for the data hall below to be positively pressurized to facilitate air flow through the electronic equipment. Heated air emitted from the electronic equipment is conducted through into a hot air return region above the data hall ceiling, while cold air is supplied to the electronic equipment below the data hall ceiling.

  • Patent number: 9021458
Abstract: Embodiment are directed towards managing application delivery over a network. Change information that corresponds to changes to an application may be provided to a delivery pipeline. The change information may be verified in part based on a static analysis of the content of the change information, compiling, and unit testing. Reviewers may be notified to approve the change information. A version of the application that includes the change information may be generated. Acceptance testing may be performed that includes provisioning computing resources in an acceptance computing environment. And, deploying a version of application that includes the change information into the acceptance computing environment. If the acceptance testing passes, a shipping operation may be enabled pausing the delivery pipeline until an authorized user activates the shipping operation restarting the delivery pipeline and deploying the application to one or more computing environments.

  • Patent number: 8989715
Abstract: A method of rendering content on a wireless device. The wireless device sends a message to a server requesting an application and identifies itself with its rendering capabilities. The wireless receives an identification of a custom configuration of a plurality of rendering blocks of the wireless device associated with the application. The custom configuration configures the plurality of rendering blocks of the device. The wireless device receives compiled content from the application executing on the server that includes render commands expressed in a syntax that is device generic but has parameters specific to the rendering capabilities of the wireless device. A reader of the wireless device processes the compiled content and issues commands to individual rendering blocks of a graphical user interface based on the rendering commands of the compiled content and based on the custom configuration.

  • Publication number: 20150058379
Abstract: A method for generating and maintaining hierarchical tags with community-based ratings is provided. Tags for media streams are organized into a hierarchical format. Users may select tags from the hierarchical tag database that describes a particular multimedia content. If the user is unable to locate a desired tag, the user may submit a new tag. Upon submission of the new tag, a librarian approves the tag before storing and placing the tag in the hierarchical tag database. Users are also able to rate the quality of the association between the tag and the multimedia content. If a tag is rated low, the tag may be removed from the hierarchical tag database. If the tag is rated highly, display of the tag in a list of tags becomes more prominent.

  • Publication number: 20150046832
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for sharing and consuming web content across multiple computing devices. Each device registers with an account on a cloud-based service using a unique identifier. When one of the registered devices requests a web page, a set of rules is processed by the cloud-based service to determine whether the page content should be shared with other registered devices. If the rules are satisfied, the cloud-based service requests and receives the content from a content provider in various formats that are compatible with each of the registered devices. Once all assets associated with the content are received by the cloud-based service, the content is shared by pushing the content out to each registered device in the compatible format. In some cases, the scroll position is adjusted automatically so that the user may resume reading at the same point where she left off with another registered device.
