  • Patent number: 6886542
Abstract: A fuel feed apparatus has a flange and a sub-tank detachable each other in its axial direction. A connector protrudes from the flange toward the sub-tank, and opposes to a space formed in the sub-tank. The connector is received in the space when the flange is mounted on the sub-tank. Therefore, the connector can be prevented from interference with a pump module eccentrically arranged in the sub-tank. The space is defined in the opposite side of the fuel pump, so that the inner space of the sub-tank is widely secured and efficiently used. Thus, distance between the flange and the sub-tank can be reduced, so that the height of the fuel feed apparatus can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 6854451
Abstract: A fuel feed apparatus accommodates a sub tank. The sub tank includes a pump module The pump module generates vibration, and is supported by a supporting member and a suction filter. The suction filter is covered with a nonwoven fabric. The nonwoven fabric is used as an additional filter for removing debris in fuel drawn by the pump module. The supporting member and the nonwoven fabric have resilience. The pump module is mounted on the sub tank via the supporting member and the non woven fabric. Therefore, vibration of the pump module is not apt to be transmitted to the sub tank. Additionally, the supporting member need not to be rigidly formed, so that the supporting member can be manufactured easily.

  • Publication number: 20040234712
Abstract: Division members (31, 32) separately molded to form a hollow component are brought into contact with each other and are arranged in dies (14, 24). The peripheral edge of the contact parts is formed with a peripheral edge path (330) to be filled with a molten resin. In the peripheral edge path (330), protrusions (316, 326) are projected from the division members (31, 32) continuously over the whole periphery of the peripheral edge path (330). The molten resin is filled in the peripheral edge path 330, and is welded with the protrusions (316, 326). As a result, a weld structure is obtained in which portions having a high welding strength are continuously formed over the whole periphery of the peripheral edge path (330).

  • Publication number: 20040177886
Abstract: A fuel feed apparatus including a sub-tank is received in a fuel tank having multiple tank sections. Multiple jet pumps respectively transfers fuel received in the tank sections into the sub-tank. Therefore, even if a fuel amount received in a single tank section decreases, fuel can be steadily supplied from another tank section. Intermediately pressurized fuel in a fuel pump is supplied to the jet pumps, so that fuel can be steadily supplied to the jet pumps regardless of fuel consumption amount in an engine. Fuel is drawn from an upstream side of a pressure regulator, and supplied to the jet pump. The pressure regulator has an urging unit, and controls fuel pressure without using a diaphragm. Therefore, the pressure regulator is simplified and downsized.

  • Patent number: 5769061
Abstract: A fuel pump for pumping fuel is provided in a sub-tank suspended in a fuel tank in order to reserve a fuel volume necessary for the fuel pump to be started on an inlet side of the fuel pump in the fuel tank. A fuel level holding member formed so as to rise upward on a suction opening side of the fuel pump reserves the fuel in space of the risen part. Thus, a structure for reserving the fuel volume pumped by the fuel pump in the fuel tank can be obtained with a simple construction.
