  • Publication number: 20020063301
Abstract: A semiconductor light-emitting device has a semiconductor light-emitting element for emitting light with emission wavelengths of 390 to 420 nm, wherein the wavelengths of light from the semiconductor light-emitting element are converted by a fluorescent substance having a monochromatic emission peak. The emission wavelengths of 390 to 420 nm, which have almost no adverse effect on human bodies and components of the semiconductor light-emitting device, are in a low human visibility range. Since light whose wavelengths are converted by the fluorescent substance are hardly affected by direct light from the semiconductor light-emitting element, light from the fluorescent substance has a favorable color tone. Also, the semiconductor light-emitting device allows desired luminous colors to be obtained only by changing fluorescent substance materials without changing the structure of the semiconductor light-emitting device or the semiconductor light-emitting element.

  • Patent number: 6203731
Abstract: If the surface of metallic mold should not be highly transcribed to the surface of product in injection molding the plastic products, the transcription defects such as weld, shrinkage, etc. are caused to the surface of product. Further, if the resin should be exposed to the surface of high temperature metallic mold more than necessary during the molding, the filler and the like of glass and so forth are contained into the resin, and in this case, they are left over on the surface of metallic mold, resulting in the transcription defect. These problems can be solved by heating the surface temperature of metallic mold higher than the glass transfer temperature of resin if the resin is non-crystal and higher than the fusion point temperature if the resin crystal, with the temperature raising speed of more than 2° C. every second, maintaining this temperature during the resin charging, and by cooling at the lowering speed of more than 2° C. every second after the completion of charging.

  • Patent number: 6135854
Abstract: An automatic workpiece transport apparatus for a double-side polishing machine is disclosed. A carrier is positioned at a predetermined position by a positioning unit, and an image of the top surface of the carrier is captured by use of a visual sensor. A computer performs image processing to obtain the center coordinates of the wafers or the workpiece holders while reference marks or the like provided on the carrier are used as references. The transport robot is moved and controlled based on the thus-detected coordinate data in order to load the wafers into the workpiece holders or to unload the wafers from the workpiece holders. Further, two visual sensors are provided at the tip end of the arm of the transport robot. These visual sensors send to the computer an image of the peripheral portion of the held wafer. Thus, the computer performs fine adjustment in positioning the wafer and the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 6094876
Abstract: A corner joint for a structure formed of stacked timbers, such as a "log" house, and a form of timber for use in the same. The timbers may be tongue-and-groove members milled from wooden stock. The joint structure is formed by two channels which are cut vertically on opposite sides of the timber, with cutout notches being formed through the timber above and below a central tenon. The sidewalls on each vertical channel are curved, one being concave and the other convex. When assembled to form the joint, the convex sidewalls nest within the concave sidewalls so as to form a tight, stable interfit and also eliminate the direct line path which might emit light, air, or water to the interior of the building through the joint.

  • Patent number: 6067070
Abstract: When text data and image data are displayed in a scale-down display area in a one-sight display, the text data is scaled down with a first scale-down percentage according to which characters are recognizable, and the image data is scaled down with a second scale-down percentage according to which the image can be all accommodated horizontally and the configuration as a whole can be easily recognized. Moreover, when the text data is displayed in the scale-down display area, a character series included in the text data is adjusted into a character series layout in which a line end is set to correspond to a number of characters per line in the scale-down display area, so that no line in the scale-down display area has an undisplayed character that is not accommodated in that line. The character arrangement of the text data is set according to the character series layout.
