  • Patent number: 5043899
Abstract: A secondary air supply system for an internal combustion engine for suppressing combustion when a throttle valve is fully closed. A secondary air supply system is controlled with a microprocessor which controls other circuits such as the vehicle ignition circuit. Sensors provide outside air temperature data, internal pressure and engine rpm to the microprocessor. The microprocessor addresses the memory based on a computation including these sensed values. The memory in turn controls valves in a secondary air supply system.

  • Patent number: 4787936
Abstract: The inventive cement-based composition is useful as a coating material for corrosion-resistant protection on steel and iron surfaces. The composition is basically a polymer cement composition prepared by compounding a hydraulic cement with an aqueous emulsion of a polymeric constituent but characteritically the inventive composition is prepared by adding an aqueous emulsion of a hydrocarbon solvent such as kerosene containing a combination of surface active agents, i.e. oil-soluble non-ionic, water-soluble non-ionic and water-soluble cationic ones, and a saccharide compound such as glucose. By virtue of the unique formulation, the composition has a greatly extended pot-life suitable for coating works of, for example, steel rods and pipes by the dip coating method.

  • Patent number: 4703898
Abstract: As a grinder is being rotated, an outer circumference thereof and a metal block of raw material are pressed at determined speed or under determined pressure, and the grinder cuts the block on its surface so as to generate short metal fibers of not more than about 15 .mu.m calculated as diameter and not more than about 400 .mu.m in length by contacting between each of abrasive grains held in a matrix of the grinder and the surface of the raw material.

  • Patent number: 4640156
Abstract: Short metal fibers are directly produced from a work metal block. The product fibers are very thin and short, e.g., 200 .mu.m in diameter and 20 mm in length to the maximum. A bar like or pillar like metal bar is rotated, to which an elastic cutting tool is contacted. The entering width of cutting edge corresponds to length of fiber to be obtained. The tool is effected with fine feed and at the same time positively generated with self excited vibrations. The self excited vibration forcibly separates and divides a thin layer fiber accumulating at the cutting edge of the tool one by one without having connections in length of the fibers to each other. The process produces needle like fibers of microscopic cross sectional area. The thin and short metal fibers are produced in the same number as number of the self excited vibrations, and the fiber is right angled in axis with the cutting direction.

  • Patent number: 4399528
Abstract: Automatic eject apparatus is provided for a self-contained record player, that is, a record player of the type having a housing, a carrier movable into and out of the housing, a turntable mounted on the carrier and a tone arm pivotably supported on the carrier and movable between raised and lowered positions. An energizable carrier drive bi-directionally drives the carrier into and out of the housing between withdrawn and retracted positions, respectively. Sensors sense when the carrier is in its withdrawn and retracted positions, and a tone arm position detector detects when the tone arm is in its raised and lowered positions, respectively. A tone arm drive is energizable to pivotally drive the tone arm to and from a reset position.

  • Patent number: 4398278
Abstract: A program selector for a record player of the type having a turntable supported on a movable carrier which is actuable to move the turntable into and out of a housing, and having a tone arm which is movable across the surface of a record and controllable to play back at least a selected one of plural programs recorded on the record in separate segments which are spaced apart from each other by respecting inter-program gaps. An inter-program gap detector detects the location of each inter-program gap on the record and produces an inter-program gap signal representing that location as the carrier moves the turn-table into the housing. A selector is provided for selecting a prgram to be played by selecting a particular inter-program gap signal which represents the location on the record of the desired program. A tone arm position detector detects the position of the tone arm as it moves across the surface of the record and produces a tone arm position signal representing the relative position of that tone arm.
