  • Publication number: 20040125791
Abstract: The invention relates to a method, whereby a transmission path for the transmission of user data is established between two fax devices (FA, FB) on a multiplexing telecommunication network (12). A section of the transmission path, lying between two network gateway units (28, 42), is in a packet transmission network (10). The type of encoding and/or transmission protocol applied in the packet transmission network (10) is changed for the transmission of fax data. On performing the change at least one exchange (48, 50) on the switching network is affected. The establishment of a protocol for the exchange of signalling messages between control units (52, 54) for the control of the network gateway units (28, 42) is thus omitted.

  • Publication number: 20040105437
Abstract: The invention relates, among other things, to a method, according to which data packets are forwarded in a packet transmission network (10), based on the routing data contained in said data packets. Depending on the type of application, when a transmission protocol is used, different values are used for a comparison variable, which determines a waiting time, in which the system waits for data packets that should arrive at a gateway (42) according to a predetermined sequence.

  • Publication number: 20040042409
Abstract: If TDM connections are typically switched through from origination TDM network to a target TDM network by way of a data network as the backbone (ATM or IP) (e.g. VoIP). The transitions between the TDM network and the data network go through media gateways. In pure TDM connections, the coding laws of the A side and the B side are identical. In TDM networks, there is coding according to “A-Law” (PCM30 networks) and “&mgr;-Law” (PCM24 networks). In the transition from an A-Law network to a &mgr;-Law network, the coding law has to be changed. In the “TDM” world, the conversion rule is that at the transition the &mgr;-Law side converts to the A-Law. In the ATM and IP transmission networks now being formed, this is no longer a requirement. Therefore the invention establishes that transcoding can take place in both network types by carrying out this transcoding in the target network.

  • Publication number: 20030149789
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for changing address information for networks with separate transmission of payload data and signaling information, in which the network administration is handled by means of the IN (intelligent network) concept and the payload data are transmitted via a packet network (IPNET). In the method according to the invention, the address information to be changed in the signaling information is extracted in an SSP (service switching point) and transmitted with an appropriately adapted INAP (intelligent network application part) to an SCP (service control point). The address is changed in the SCP using means provided there. The changed address information is then transmitted back to the SSP. The invention efficiently uses the IN concept for changing address information of signaling information. Disadvantages of conventional methods are avoided.

  • Publication number: 20030118009
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for providing IVR (interactive voice response) resources using the BICC protocol. In the method according to the invention, the provision of IVR resources is triggered in a CMN (call mediation node). The CMN brings about the execution of the BEARER REDIRECTION BICC procedure at an SN (service node) arranged upstream of it, and brings about access to IVR resources by means of the BICC procedure. The method according to the invention enables IVR resources in BICC networks to be provided directly at a CMN for the first time.

  • Publication number: 20030014375
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for tracking postal items. The shipping details of each postal item are stored in a data base that can be interrogated and is updated during shipping. A data record which can be changed and completed is created in each original distribution centre and for each postal item that is posted in said centre. Said data record contains a reference number and data that characterise the postal item and the shipping details. Each posted postal item is provided with an identification key in the original distribution centre. Said key uniquely characterises said postal item. The postal items are transported to the destination distribution centre, optionally via additional distribution centres. The reference numbers and the original distribution centres are subsequently detected in said succeeding distribution centres and the relevant shipping data comprising the reference numbers is electronically transmitted to the original distribution centres for completing the data records.

  • Publication number: 20020080777
Abstract: A method for switching on a subscriber signal wherein a transmission path from a calling terminal device of a switched-through telecommunications network to a called terminal device of a packet transmission network is defined using a network transmission function. An alert message comes from the called terminal device end. When the alert message occurs, a following signaling message is generated which indicates that a subscriber signal has not yet been generated for the calling terminal device. The ringing tone is not switched on, and a standard signaling message is not generated, until the following signaling message has been processed.

  • Patent number: 6343437
Abstract: A sliding door (B) that is operated with a door drive is moved with the aid of a lever arm (A) that is driven by a motor (M) via a gear. The end positions of the door, as well as two intermediate positions, are detected with mechanical switches (C) that are actuated by a cam disk (K). The mechanical switches (C) form a redundant safety system and, if necessary, can be omitted. A non-contacting sensor (S) is used independent of the mechanical switches (C). For the purpose of detecting the position, the sensor can fully replace the mechanical switches (C) and the cam disk (K) for actuating these switches. With the aid of a transmitting wheel (D) and the sensor (S), it is possible to draw a conclusion relating to the rotational speed as well as the door position. A central data processing unit (CPU) permits the control and adjustment of the door drive. A diagnostic evaluation of the door drive with respect to required maintenance operations is furthermore possible with the central data processing unit (CPU).

  • Patent number: 6094013
Abstract: A circuit arrangement for limiting the current at make for a transformer wherein, in order to avoid the current peak at make when switching a transformer on, resistors are connected between operating voltage and the primary winding of the transformer. A test winding at the secondary side of the transformer is connected via a rectifier to the supply input of a contactor, so that the switches of the contactor close after the transformer is turned on and the resistors therefore no longer lie between operating voltage of the primary winding. PTC-resistors connected in series with the resistors assure that the resistors are not overloaded by the high-operating current of the transformer if the switches do not switch.

  • Patent number: 5994889
Abstract: A circuit arrangement for limiting the current at make which includes hot-carrier thermistors that see to a reduction of the current flow at make. Only when a further hot-carrier thermistor has been adequately heated by the flow of current are the hot-carrier thermistors bridged, and the capacitative load receives the full operating voltage. After turn-off, an ambient temperature-compensated voltage divider at the base of a transistor prevents the immediate re-activation until the further hot-carrier thermistor and, thus, all hot-carrier thermistors, have adequately cooled.
