  • Publication number: 20120268233
Abstract: A switchgear unit switches high DC voltages, particularly for interrupting of direct current between a direct current source and an electrical device. The switchgear unit contains two connections which project from a housing and which are electrically conductively coupled by a conductor path, a contact system which is arranged between the first and second connections and an isolating apparatus that can be tripped by a thermal fuse. The thermal fuse contains a melting location which is arranged in the conductor path and which is connected first to the contact system and second via a moving conductor section to the first connection. The isolating apparatus is tripped and the connection between the conductor section and the contact system is broken at the melting location when an arc produced when the contact system is opened has caused the melting temperature of the melting location to be reached or exceeded.

  • Publication number: 20110247406
Abstract: A method for determining a suction mass flow of a gas turbine is provided. A turbine inlet pressure, a combustion chamber pressure loss and a pressure loss between an environment and a compressor inlet are determined as input parameters. For each input parameter a provisional value for the suction mass flow is ascertained and for each provisional value a validated value by cross-balancing with the other provisional values is ascertained. A characteristic quantity of the suction mass flow of the gas turbine is generated as an average value from the validated values. The suction mass flow is determined without solving energy balances, without information relating to a fuel calorific value, and without information relating to a fuel mass flow.

  • Patent number: 8013481
Abstract: A solution is provided for tuning the frequency of a torsional mode of interest of a rotating body (such as a generator rotor torsional mode) by adding a detuner to act as an undamped torsional vibration absorber. The detuner may be coupled to an overhung shaft extending from the rotating body. The detuner may be modular, therefore weight can be added or subtracted easily from the detuner in order to adjust the stiffness and/or inertia of the overhung shaft. This change in stiffness and/or inertia yields a torsional frequency of oscillation in the overhung shaft substantially similar to the natural frequency of the torsional mode of interest of the rotating body, therefore forcing the frequency of the torsional mode of interest of the rotating body above or below its torsional natural frequency.

Abstract: A touch pad arrangement having a touch pad which has a sensitive operating surface and which can be moved in a direction of movement by a guide mechanism in a guided manner without tipping between a raised resting position and a lowered position. A lever mechanism is arranged on at least two side areas of the touch pad lying opposite each other. The lever mechanism includes two levers which extend approximately toward each other along their own axes, and which are pivotably mounted in the center of their length about a fixed joint with an axis which extends transversally to the direction of movement of the touch pad. The levers can be acted upon in the direction of movement of the touch pad on the lever ends facing away from each other, by the touch pad or a touch pad support supporting the touch pad, and are connected to each other on their facing ends via a flexible connection.

  • Publication number: 20090217286
Abstract: Managing the workload across one or more partitions of a plurality of partitions of a computing environment. One or more processors are identified in a partition to be managed by a quality weight defined according to characteristics of each corresponding processor. A load of each identified processor is measured depending on the requests already allocated to be processed by each corresponding processor. Each identified processor has a performance factor determined based on the measured load and the quality weight. The performance factor is a measurement of processor load. A new request is identified to be allocated to the partition, selecting a processor from the partition with the lowest performance factor. The new request is allocated to the selected processor.
