Patent number: 5964318Abstract: A system for measuring the quality and level of lubricant in an engine lubricant reservoir includes a valve for selectively directing a portion of lubricant from the engine through a first conduit for return to the engine or through a second conduit for removal from the engine. Within the first conduit are one or more sensors for sensing the condition of the lubricant passing through the first conduit. The sensors are monitored by a controller which is operative selectively to cause the valve to block the flow of lubricant through the first conduit and direct a portion of the lubricant through the second conduit based on the monitored conditions of the lubricant. Also, the controller directs a supply of fresh lubricant to the engine in response to the lubricant in the engine lubricant reservoir dropping below a predetermined level.Type: GrantFiled: January 12, 1998Date of Patent: October 12, 1999Assignee: The Lubrizol CorporationInventors: Frederick P. Patent number: 5893409Abstract: A heat sink for electronic components is presented, which is integral and comprises a strip of sheet brass. This strip is bent in a meandering shape, contact surfaces being seated on a heat distributor of a component, in the region of lower meandering curves. The heat sink is held firmly on the component by means of an internally produced prestress in conjunction with a snap-action connection. Although the heat sink has longitudinal elasticity even in the fitted state, its heat-dissipating function can always be maintained.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 1998Date of Patent: April 13, 1999Assignee: Siemens AktiengesellschaftInventors: Gerd Kohler, Tobias Kirmse, Klaus-Werner Kohler, Hans-Uwe Luckner

Patent number: 5713403Abstract: The consumer, and in particular the beverage consumer, frequently demands different packaging units which consist of different beverages or different assortments of beverages. That means that packaging units must be assembled which contain, for example, two bottles of a carbonated fruit-flavor beverage and four bottles of a beverage containing cola. The labelling and other packaging of the container must correspond to the product In the individual container. The packaging units are generally assembled either manually or semi-automatically. The invention relates to a method which simplifies the preparation of packaging units which contain different filling products. The invention is characterized by the fact that to fill the containers according to a Specified or selected filling formation with different filling products, i.e.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 1996Date of Patent: February 3, 1998Assignee: KHS Maschinen- und Anlagenbau AktiengesellschaftInventors: Ludwig Clusserath, Jean Marti, Klaus-Werner Jung

Patent number: 5591076Abstract: A method and apparatus for processing flat fish is disclosed. The fish (5) are placed on a conveyor (1) and transported on a conveying surface (1.1) over an array of photosensing elements (3.4) which generate light absorbtion signals as the fish is advanced. These signals are sent to a computer, which determines the contour of the fish using information regarding the conveyor speed and computes cutting control signals using pre-programmed proportionality factors relating to the fish species. The cutting line control signals are sent to a cutting apparatus (4). As the advanced fish arrives at the cutting apparatus, two rotary knives (4.1) cut into the dorsal and ventral sides of the fish in response to the control signals to remove the dorsal fin together with a strip of fatty tissue (5.12) from one edge of the fish and the internal organs, the anal fin and the ventral strip of fatty tissue (5.11) from the other edge of the fish.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 1995Date of Patent: January 7, 1997Assignee: Nordischer Maschinenbau Rud. Patent number: 5259810Abstract: An installation for processing flatfish, in particular for severing the head, and, if necessary, the tail thereof, comprises a feeding device (1), means for aligning the fish and means for conveying the same in rest position on one of their sides through the operative area of processing tools. The installation can be characterized in that the conveying means (13) is provided with entrainers (14) which engage the fish at its flank remote of that lying on the support surface (16), and are controlled to turn about an axis which is perpendicular to said support surface (16). Each fish is taken over by the entrainer (14) with attention being paid to a detected measured value with respect to its size such that the point of engagement of the entrainer is uniform independent of the size.Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 1992Date of Patent: November 9, 1993Assignee: Nordischer Maschinenbau Rud. Patent number: 4981440Abstract: An electric connector includes two complementary connector members, one of which has spring contacts as contact elements and the other has blade contacts as contact elements, wherein the contact elements are mounted in a row or in several parallel rows on base members. The base members are mounted on frame-like enclosing members of housings which extend parallel to the direction of insertion of the contact elements and which serve for the mutual guidance of the housings during the insertion. In the joined state of the connector members, the spring contacts and the corresponding blade contacts can be placed in contact with each other and out of contact from each other by means of contact slide members which are displaceable along the row or rows of contact elements. The connector members can be positively coupled transversely of the direction of insertion by means of locking slide members.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 1990Date of Patent: January 1, 1991Assignee: Elco Elektronik GmbHInventors: Klaus Werner, Helmut Fries, Siegfried Kleufer

Patent number: 4521139Abstract: A method of adjusting the mass stream and flow density of a finely divided, fine-grained solid fuel is described. The method uses a dosing container having a fluidized bed at its bottom part and into which the solid fuel is charged above the fluidized bed. A fluidizing gas is adjustably fed to the bottom part of the container and a compensation gas is fed to the upper part of the latter. Mass stream parameters and density are measured in the discharge or supply pipe communicating with the fluidizing bed and the required weight of flow of the fluidizing gas is computed by a computer. In this manner, the regulation of the mass stream is effected by adjusting the loose density of the charge of the dusty material in the container.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 1982Date of Patent: June 4, 1985Assignee: Brennstoffinstitut FreibergInventors: Horst Kretschmer, Guenter Tietze, Juergen Noack, Hans-Joachim Schweigel, Manfred Schingnitz, Klaus Werner, Bernd Kirsch

Patent number: 3955696Abstract: A bottle or similar container is provided with a safety closure comprising a push-on cap having a sealing plug on its base penetrating into the bottle mouth and having projections on the inside of its peripheral wall which engage behind an annular beading on the bottle neck to retain the cap on the bottle. In addition to the beading, mutually opposite cams project from the bottle neck each providing an upper surface which ascends in a circumferential direction towards the bottle mouth. The peripheral wall of the cap, which is made of a slightly flexible material, is spaced from the bottle neck and at mutually opposite positions on its inside there are inwardly projecting cam followers which clear the cams when the cap is rotated normally but which engage and ride up the upper cam surfaces when the cap is pressed inwards in the regions of the followers and the cap is simultaneously rotated in the same direction as the cam surfaces ascend, thereby pushing the cap off the bottle.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 1974Date of Patent: May 11, 1976Assignee: Robert Finke Kunststoff-Spritzguss-WerkInventor: Klaus Werner Finke
