  • Patent number: 4813347
Abstract: A soybean processing system separates whole soybeans into cotyledons and hulls, and separates the cotyledons into two outlets. The cotyledons from one of the outlets are processed into a deodorized soybean powder, whereas the cotyledons from the other outlet are processed into a nondeodorized soybean powder. Therefore, two types of soybean powder are produced by the single system. The protein contained in the deodorized soybean powder is coagulated into a soybean curd which is formed to a certain shape.

  • Patent number: 4548682
Abstract: A magnetic recording medium having excellent magnetic properties and a uniform recording envelope suitable for, in particular, high-density recording is obtained by packing a magnetic substance in the micro pores of anodic oxide film formed on an aluminum substrate by subjecting the same to an anodic oxidation treatment to produce an anodic oxide film having a thickness of at least 4 .mu.m. The recording medium can be improved by immersing the anodized aluminum substrate in an acid or alkali bath to chemically dissolve a part of the anodic oxide film, and thereby enlarge the micro pores in the anodic oxide film to a pore diameter in the range of 300 .ANG. to 1,400 .ANG.

  • Patent number: 4540449
Abstract: An aluminum substrate for magnetic recording media such as magnetic disks, etc., is composed of an aluminum alloy plate containing 2 to 6% by weight magnesium and impurities in only limited amounts and having on the surface an anodic oxidation film with thickness more than 3 .mu.m formed by a chromic acid process. In the thus-anodized aluminum substrate, the occurrence of black spot defects is greatly reduced and the formation of cracks upon heating the substrate to high temperatures is prevented in spite of the thicker anodic oxidation film.

  • Patent number: 4510030
Abstract: An aluminum article is protected against electrochemical corrosive attack by an aqueous medium with which the article is at least partially in contact by the steps of observing the cathodic potential of the article relative to a reference electrode in contact with the medium; when the observed cathodic potential of said article approaches the potential at which pitting corrosion of the same is initiated, electrically connecting said article directly to a source of potential electronegative with respect to the observed potential of the article to repress the cathodic potential of said article to within the alkali corrosion range; and after the cathodic potential is repressed within the alkali corrosion range, disconnecting the article from said electronegative potential source to allow the article to gradually return to its natural cathodic potential in the medium.

  • Patent number: 4507179
Abstract: An aluminum substrate suitable for making high-density magnetic recording media is produced by anodizing a surface of the aluminum substrate in an aqueous chromic acid solution at an electrolytic voltage higher than 60 volts. The anodic film thus formed has no black spot defects and also exhibits no cracks when the substrate is heated at a high temperature for forming a magnetic recording layer. The effect is further improved by adding a small amount of oxalic acid to the electrolyte.
