  • Patent number: 7046309
Abstract: There is provided a single panel type video display capable of increasing the luminance of image. A color separator separates light from a light source into light beams in three colors in a band shape to emit the light beams and introduces the band-shaped light beams in the three colors so as to be overlapped with one another in a predetermined region. A lens array wheel has a plurality of functional units each composed of a convex lens of a size corresponding to the predetermined region, circularly passes the plurality of functional units each composed of the convex lens through the predetermined region, and scrolls the band-shaped light beams in the three colors in a state where they are divided among regions on a single liquid crystal display panel. A video signal is fed to the liquid crystal display panel in synchronization with the movement of the plurality of functional units each composed of the convex lens.

  • Patent number: 7024623
Abstract: A method for placing an insertion point in an electronic document in an electronic system for creating and editing an electronic document. Context information regarding a location of a cursor in the electronic document is collected. A coinciding rule is selected from one of a number of rules based on the collected context information. In response to selecting a coinciding rule, the cursor is changed to indicate an anticipated location of the insertion point and the associated formatting rules to be applied. A determination is made whether an indication has been received to place the insertion point in the electronic document, and, if so, then formatting is performed to place the insertion point in the electronic document.

  • Publication number: 20060050510
Abstract: A reflection mixing member (13) has an alignment in which light from a first light source is incident on a reflecting surface (13a) and light from a second light source is incident on a reflecting surface (13b). A relationship between a pitch Wp, which is a pitch between portions (triangular prisms) respectively formed of the reflecting surface (13a) and the reflecting surface (13b) in the reflection mixing member (13), and a lens pitch Wf is set to be (Wp/Wf?1). As a result, light fluxes of respectively different distribution are incident on each lens portion of fly's eye lens 14a, so that it is possible to prevent luminance non-uniformity in light incident on a liquid crystal display panel (5) from being generated and prevent color non-uniformity from being generated on a screen at the same time.

  • Publication number: 20060017889
Abstract: An ion wind generator (20) is arranged in the vicinity of a light source (1). The ion wind generator (20) allows an air flow by negatively ionizing air by corona discharges using negative side needle electrodes (21), and drawing the negatively-ionized air using a ground side mesh electrode (22). High-temperature air surrounding the light source (1) is drawn by the air flow and exhausted from a exhaust port at a rear side of a casing. An ozone decomposition catalyst filter 23 is provided in the exhaust port. Ozone (O3) is generated by the corona discharges in the ion wind generator (20). However, the ozone is decomposed by passing through the ozone decomposition catalyst filter 23 provided at the exhaust port.

  • Publication number: 20060018109
Abstract: A display apparatus for a vehicle includes a display device on which a state of the vehicle is displayed using a desired design pattern; and a transparent auxiliary member interposed between the display device and a vehicle driver. The transparent auxiliary member has an auxiliary design pattern corresponding to a vehicle type to form a part of the desired design pattern by superposing thereon, and allows the vehicle driver to see superposed design pattern displayed on the display device and the auxiliary design pattern. Transmitted light emitted from the display device illuminates the transparent auxiliary member.

  • Publication number: 20050237500
Abstract: An ion wind generator (20) is arranged on one side of a light source (1). The ion wind generator (20) produces an air current by negatively ionizing air by corona discharges at a needle electrode (21), or negative side, and drawing the negatively-ionized air at a cylindrical electrode (22), or positive side. The air current blows toward the light source (1) and removes heat generated by the light source (1). An ultraviolet ray from the light source (1) is introduced to a vent of the ion wind generator (20) by a first dichroic mirror (4) and a ultraviolet ray reflection mirror (17). Though air exhausted from the vent includes ozone (o3) produced by corona discharges, the ozone is decomposed by the ultraviolet ray.

  • Publication number: 20050213045
Abstract: A lens array wheel 4 receives light irradiated in a direction parallel to its rotation axis, to cyclically deflect the light. On each of liquid crystal display panels 7R, 7G, and 7B, the light is circularly scrolled, the effect of substantial intermittent illumination is produced, and hold blurring is reduced. A panel driver 15 starts to feed a pixel-driving signal in the succeeding frame to a pixel existing at a position, through which an illuminating area passes, on each of the liquid crystal display panels 7R, 7G, and 7B.

  • Publication number: 20050117337
Abstract: Each light path changing member forms a first light flux by reflecting a half of light flux emitted from a particular area (central area or peripheral area) of light source in one direction using a polarizing beam splitter, and forms a second light flux by reflecting the other half of light flux, which has passed through the beamsplitter, in the afore-mentioned direction using the first mirror. Then, each light path changing member transmits a half of a light flux emitted from the other light source and guided by the second mirror in the same direction as that in which the first light flux has been guided using the polarizing beam splitter, and superposes the light flux on the aforementioned first light flux, and reflects the other half of light flux, which has been reflected by the beam splitter, in the aforementioned direction using the first mirror, and superposes the light flux on the second light flux.

  • Patent number: 6886066
Abstract: A method and apparatus for sharing signal pins on an interface between a system controller and peripheral integrated circuits reduces the number of signal pins required on a system controller integrated circuit. Signals of differing types are qualified by an internal peripheral select signal from which chip select signals for a plurality of externally interfaced peripheral integrated circuits are generated. The interface functions so that a single signal pin may be used for carrying different signal types between the system controller and each of the peripheral integrated circuits. The use of the internal peripheral select signal ensures that the setup times for the selection circuitry and pin drivers are met before a chip select signal enables communication with a selected peripheral and that a hold time is maintained for signals on shared interface pins so that the peripheral integrated circuits receive valid inputs from shared pins.

  • Patent number: 6781786
Abstract: A magnetic disk drive system having a write head Hw and a read head Hr which can move over a magnetic disk in a radial direction of the disk and are arranged at a distance from each other. At a predetermined write start timing tWG, it writes measurement information by the write head in a specific sector at a first timing tW, then reads the information by the read head, detects predetermined positional information included in the information, and produces a second timing tDA. The system subtracts the interval between the second timing and the start timing from the interval between the first timing and second timing to measure the write/read head distance time difference in the track direction of the magnetic head unit. The write/read head distance information is used for correction and control of the operation of the magnetic head unit.
