  • Publication number: 20050282569
Abstract: An apparatus in a mobile communication system for providing a multimedia broadcast/multicast service (MBMS) and a method for giving notification of an MBMS service while considering transmission mode are provided. A controlling radio network controller (CRNC) sends, to a serving radio network controller (SRNC), transmission mode information indicating point-to-point (PTP), point-to-multipoint (PTM), or “Not provide” cell by cell. The SRNC determines service notification on the basis of the transmission mode information. The CRNC minimizes a signaling load on an Iur interface when sending, to the SRNC, the transmission mode information suitable for each cell.

  • Publication number: 20050271007
Abstract: A notification method for informing a UE of an existence or absence of control information for an MBMS in a mobile communication system supporting the MBMS. In the method, the UE receives a notification indicator channel independently reporting the existence of the control information for the MBMS, confirms at least one notification indicator of the notification indicator channel, thereby confirming the existence of the control information relating to the requested MBMS. Further, a method is proposed, which can minimize an alarm due to other MBMSs.

  • Publication number: 20050249138
Abstract: Disclosed is a power setup method for minimizing a delay time caused by an HARQ of an E-DCH when an MAC-e PDU comprising scheduling information required for using a Node B controlled scheduling is transmitted in environments supporting a packet data service through the E-DCH in an asynchronous code division multiple access (CDMA) communication system. A user equipment (UE) generates packet data for transmitting through the E-DCH, determines if signaling information is included in Quality of Service (QoS) of the packet data and the packet data, sets a power gain preset according to each QoS of the packet data, applies a determined offset value to the set power gain when the signaling information is included in the packet data, and transmits the packet data through the E-DCH according to the power gain to which the offset value has been applied.

  • Patent number: 6956829
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for measuring a propagation delay value of a frame transmitted by a UE (User Equipment) to a Node B in a TDD (Time Division Duplexing) mobile communication system. The UE acquires synchronization with the Node B based on a downlink pilot channel signal transmitted in a period of a downlink pilot time slot, and determines an estimated round trip delay value T1 by comparing transmission power of a physical common channel signal in a first time slot with reception power of the same signal. The UE receives a transmission point correcting value T2 through a forward physical access channel (FPACH) signal transmitted from the Node B in a period of one downlink time slot among the time slots, and transmits a physical random access channel (PRACH) message with the estimated round trip delay value T1 at a transmission point determined based on T2 and T1.

  • Publication number: 20050157876
Abstract: A method for minimizing overhead occurring caused by control information for encryption performed to protect MBMS data for an MBMS service in a mobile communication system. This method is implemented by distinguishing a case in which control information used for encryption is updated from another case in which the control information used for encryption is not updated, and transmitting different control information according to the distinguishment result. That is, when the control information used for encryption is not updated, only minimized control information is transmitted, and when the control information for encryption is updated, the entire updated control information is transmitted. Accordingly, the amount of control information transmitted along with MBMS data is minimized, contributing to an increase in the amount of MBMS data transmitted per unit time.

  • Publication number: 20050118992
Abstract: A method of transmitting and receiving MBMS service availability information. To support the mobility of UEs receiving an MBMS service, an RNC transmits, to each of a plurality of cells under its control, an MBMS service availability message including service availability information and resource availability information regarding at least one MBMS service available in the cell. From the MBMS service availability message, a UE determines if a desired MBMS service can be received in a current cell currently or in the future. The UE requests the desired MBMS service or selects another cell capable of providing the MBMS service.

  • Publication number: 20050111395
Abstract: A method for paging a UE (User Equipment) over a dedicated channel in a mobile communication system for supporting a Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service (MBMS). The paging method can indicate the presence or absence of control information associated with the MBMS during a call-connection mode established over a dedicated channel in a Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) communication system. If a Serving Radio Network Controller (SRNC) for supporting the MBMS recognizes the beginning of the MBMS in which the UE is joined, it requests from a transmission mode needed for the MBMS from one or more CRNCs (Control Radio Network Controllers) controlling a plurality of cells communicating with the UE, such that it acquires MBMS control channel (MCCH) information including control information for supporting the MBMS. Then, the SRNC transmits a paging message including the MCCH information to the UE over a dedicated channel.
