Abstract: A system for reporting a reception ratio of a broadcast service in a broadcasting system. A network entity sends a reception ratio report indication message indicating at least one measurement type of a reception ratio for a broadcast streaming service. A terminal receives the reception ratio report indication message, and sends a reception ratio report message including the reception ratio indicative of a ratio of an expectedTotalPackets indicating a total number of packets that the terminal expects to receive for a reception ratio measurement interval according to a measurement type indicated by the reception ratio report indication message, to a receivedTotalPackets indicating a total number of packets that the terminal has received for the reception ratio measurement interval.

Abstract: Disclosed is a DVB-H CBMS system by which a user can continue to view a program being in service even when the transport stream or IP platform changes while the user views the program. In the DVB-H CBMS system, the system transmits service mapping information according to transport streams or IP platforms to the terminal, so that the system can provide a service without interruption to the terminal even when a user of the terminal moves out of a current cell or network into a new cell or network while receiving a service that the user selected.

Abstract: A method for providing a broadcast service to a terminal by a network in a Digital Video Broadcasting-Handheld (DVB-H) Convergence of Broadcasting and Mobile Service (CBMS) system. The method includes generating Program Specific Information/Service Information (PSI/SI) indicative of information related to a broadcast service requested by the terminal; generating mapping information for information on the broadcast service in an Internet Protocol (IP) platform from which the terminal is currently receiving the broadcast service, and for information on a broadcast service corresponding to the broadcast service in IP platforms other than the IP platform; and including the generated mapping information in an IP/Medium Access Control (MAC) Information Notification Table (INT) of the PSI/SI, and delivering the INT to the terminal.

Abstract: A method for enabling a user equipment (UE) to recover from a multimedia broadcast/multicast service (MBMS) data error in a mobile communication system. The mobile communication system includes a radio network controller (RNC) and at least one cell for transmitting MBMS data to at least one UE according to a control operation of the RNC. The RNC transmits first control information to UEs located in each cell. Each of the UEs receives the first control information and the MBMS data. When an error in the received MBMS data is detected, the RNC is notified that an MBMS data reception error has occurred. Response information associated with the MBMS data reception error is transmitted from the UE to the RNC. The UE determines whether control information contained in the response information matches the first control information. The MBMS data reception error is recovered from, according to a result of the determination.

Abstract: A method of performing an inter-RAT measurement for a handover from NB-TDD to GSM is provided. A UE, as it moves from an NB-TDD Node B to a GSM cell, receives a measurement control message from the NB-TDD Node B. The UE then measures the strength of a signal received from the GSM cell and verifies its identification for a predetermined measuring time. If the UE successfully verifies the identification of the GSM cell for the measuring time, it reports the signal strength measurement and the verified GSM cell identification to the NB-TDD Node B. If the UE fails to verify the identification of the GSM cell for the measuring time, it reports only the signal strength measurement to the NB-TDD Node B.

Abstract: A method for providing soft handover in a code division multiple access mobile communication system supporting multicast multimedia broadcast service. In an asynchronous mobile communication system supporting an MBMS service, when a UE moves to a region where it can receive data from a plurality of Node Bs, soft handover is performed on the UE. Thus, even though an MBMS user moves from an existing cell to a new cell, a stable MBMS service is provided. Furthermore, the UE can soft-combine data received from a plurality of Node Bs.

Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method for transmitting/receiving an encrypted Electronic Service Guide (ESG) in a mobile Digital Video Broadcasting-Handheld (DVB-H) Convergence of Broadcast and Mobile Service (CBMS) system. When a terminal performs roaming from a home network to a visited network, the terminal receives an ESG from a neighboring network and determines whether to perform user roaming or to perform service roaming according to the received ESG. In this case, the visited network provides the terminal either with an encrypted ESG and a key for the encrypted ESG, or with non-encrypted ESG through a dedicated channel, so that it is possible to provide the ESG only to specified terminals.

Abstract: Disclosed is an uplink random access procedure in an NB-TDD (Narrow Band Time Division Duplexing) system. To achieve an acknowledgement for data transmission from a UTRAN (UMTS Terrestrial Radio Access Network), a UE selects one of a plurality of sync codes by which the UTRAN identifies UEs that request data transmission and transmits the selected sync code in a time slot of a sub-frame to the UTRAN. Then, the UE receives the sync code information, information about the arrival time of the sync code, time update information indicating a variation in the transmission time of data, and power information indicating an adjustment to a power gain in the UE from the UTRAN on an FPACH (Fast Physical Access Channel). The UE transmits the data on a P-RACH (Physical Random Access Channel) mapped from the FPACH according to the time update information and the power information.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing an MBMS (Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service) service to user equipments (UEs) that desire to receive the MBMS service, in a code division multiple access (CDMA) mobile communication system including a plurality of radio network controllers (RNCs), a plurality of SGSNs (Serving GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) Supporting Nodes) connected to each of the RNCs, and a plurality of the UEs wirelessly connectable to the RNCs, and providing the MBMS service to the UEs. The UEs request a desired MBMS service, and receive an MBMS service provided in response to the request. The RNCs transmit data related to the MBSM service to UEs wirelessly connected to thereto among UEs that requested the service. The SGSNs control a procedure related to the MBMS service for the UEs that requested the service.

Abstract: A method for transmitting information in a mobile communication system using HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) service. When an RNC (Radio Network Controller) generates or changes HSDPA service-related information, it transmits the generated or changed information to a Node B and a UE along with an indicator indicating the change in the HSDPA service information. Therefore, the Node B and the UE simultaneously operate by receiving the generated or changed information, resulting in an increase in the HSDPA service efficiency.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for generating a Short Term Key Message (STKM) for protection of a broadcast service being broadcasted to a terminal in a mobile broadcast system. The method includes transmitting, by a Broadcast Service Subscription Management (BSM) for managing subscription information, at least one key information for authentication of the broadcast service to a Broadcast Service Distribution/Adaptation (BSD/A) for transmitting the broadcast service, generating, by the BSD/A, a Traffic Encryption Key (TEK) for deciphering of the broadcast service in the terminal and inserting the TEK into a partially created STKM, and performing, by the BSD/A, Message Authentication Code (MAC) processing on the TEK-inserted STKM using the at least one key information, thereby generating a completed STKM.

Abstract: There is provided a method for allocating channel numbers to channel signals by a Node B, which repeatedly transmits a stream of n channel signals to a UE (User Equipment), each of the channel signals including a channel number and transmission data, the n channel signals having (n+1) different channel numbers, each channel having a given transmission time interval (TTI). The method comprises storing channel numbers of the n channel signals in a transmission window, and updating channel numbers such that n channel numbers are stored each time channel signals are transmitted; and allocating the same channel number as a channel number used for initial transmission to a channel signal to be transmitted if the channel signal to be transmitted is a retransmission channel signal, and allocating a channel number not belonging to the transmission window among the (n+1) channel numbers to a channel signal to be transmitted if the channel signal to be transmitted is an initial-transmission channel signal.

Abstract: A method for resetting a MAC-hs (Medium Access Control-high speed) layer entity in a communication system using HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access). When an RLC (Radio Link Control) layer entity is reset due to occurrence a protocol error, the system resets both a MAC-hs layer entity of the RLC layer entity and its counterpart RLC, thus preventing unnecessary data transmission.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for transmitting and receiving an Electronic Service Guide (ESG) of an interaction channel in a Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) system are provided. In order to transmit the ESG, ESG data about acquisition information is collected and it is determined whether a service associated with the ESG data is transmitted on an interaction channel. If the service is transmitted on the interaction channel, service access information needed to the interaction channel is set in a first field added for setting interaction channel information in an acquisition fragment of the ESG data. If the service is not transmitted on the interaction channel, service access information needed to receive a unidirectional broadcast channel is set in a second field configured to transmit information for accessing a service stream of the unidirectional broadcast channel in an old-version acquisition fragment.

Abstract: A mobile broadcast system having a terminal is disclosed. The terminal transmits a message including a type-based identifier (ID) to a BCAST Subscription Management (BSM) in a corresponding network during network access. The BSM determines a type of an ID of the received message and then performs an authentication procedure according to the type of the ID.

Abstract: A method for providing a notification message in a transmitter of a mobile broadcast system supporting an interaction channel is disclosed. Upon an occurrence of a notification event, a first means generates a notification message, and generates at least one delivery request message including a target address based on subscription information of the corresponding terminal, using the generated notification message. A second means determines a channel over which it will deliver a notification message to the corresponding terminal based on the target address, and delivers the notification message over the determined channel.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for enabling a terminal to continuously receive an on-going service even when the terminal moves out of a serving cell or a home network in a DVB-H CBMS system are provided, in which a network controls a handover, designates a target cell for the terminal if the terminal is to perform the handover on an interactive channel, and when needed, processes the handover over an interactive network.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for transmitting a notification message in a mobile broadcast system that includes transmitting common notification message channel information necessary for receiving a common notification message for all users capable of receiving broadcast services, along with an Electronic Service Guide (ESG) for the broadcast services or a control signal for the broadcast services; transmitting specific notification message channel information necessary for receiving a specific notification message for a specific user group to a terminal in the specific user group along with the ESG; generating at least one of the common notification message and the specific notification message; and transmitting the generated notification message to the terminal using the corresponding channel information.

Abstract: A method for initiating uplink signaling proactively by the MBMS UE, comprising steps of: the UE moving to a new cell; listening to information on a MCCH; initiating an uplink signaling according to information on the MCCH; sending a response message to the UE by a RNC, or if no UE moving to the new cell,initiating the uplink signaling proactively by the UE if the information received from the MCCH includes an indication for UE counting; and sending a response message to the UE by the RNC. The UE in URA_PCH mode and IDLE mode can response to the MBMS Notification message sent by the RNC, and can initiate the Cell Update process or the RRC Connection process in order to obtain the MBMS parameters. The RNC sets different contents for the response message according to different reasons of message initiation.

Abstract: A method and system is provided for sharing a service guide or a service guide fragment in a mobile broadcast system supporting a mobile broadcast service. A Broadcast Service Provisioning Client Function (BSP-C) sends a request for the service guide or service guide fragment to a Broadcast Service Provisioning Management Function (BSP-M). The BSP-M transmits the service guide or service guide fragment to the BSP-C if the BSP-M has the service guide or service guide fragment.
