Abstract: A method and apparatus for receiving user roaming and service roaming services from a foreign network in a terminal that has moved from a home network to the foreign network in a digital broadcasting system are provided, in which the terminal receives an ESG from a foreign service provider after entering into the foreign network, selects a roaming type between user roaming and service roaming by determining if an intended broadcasting service is provided from the foreign network, referring to the ESG, receives the intended service from the foreign service provider, if the roaming type is the user roaming, and receives the intended service from a home service provider over the foreign network, if the roaming type is the service roaming.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for encoding additional ESG information and decoding a new version of an Electronic Service Guide (ESG) in a terminal, when information for the new version ESG is transmitted by a digital video broadcasting system. When an information field is added in relation to a fragment of an old version to construct the new version ESG, an independent fragment of the new version for the information field is added without modifying the old version fragment. A connection relation for the reference to an associated old version fragment is specified within the new version fragment.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for handling an Electronic Service Guide (ESG) transmission error in a digital video broadcasting system, including a Service Application (SA) entity for receiving a file repair request message from a terminal after broadcasting an ESG from a Service Management (SM) entity to the terminal and, when the file repair request message is a request for the ESG, providing the SM entity with the file repair request message and an address of the terminal; a logical ESG aggregator for generating the ESG within the SM entity interpreting the request message and determining whether to retransmit the ESG to the terminal, and when determining to retransmit the ESG, the logical ESG aggregator delivering, ESG metadata and the address of the terminal to an interactive server for transmitting the ESG within the SM entity. The interactive server transmits the ESG metadata to the terminal.

Abstract: This invention provides a paging method for Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service in mobile communication system. The paging process and radio resource setup process are merged in this method to try to reduce uplink responses. This invention extends existing PCH IubFP frame structure by adding MBMS Indication bit(MI) to PCH IubFP frame. The PCH IubFP frame includes Paging Indication (PI) and Paging Message. Paging message carries MBMS service information. MBMS Service Identity or MBMS Paging Indicator is added to the reserved 12 bits in Paging Indicator Channel (PICH) frame structure. Radio Network Controller (RNC) transfers Paging Indicator Message and paging message to Base Station (Node B) so as to send over the air-interface.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for transmitting an Electronic Service Guide (ESG) in a Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) system, the method includes collecting ESG data to be transmitted; when a multi-stream mode is used in order to transmit the ESG data, setting parameters to be transmitted, and setting the number of IP streams to be used in the multi-stream mode; setting a signaling field indicating use or non-use of at least one partitioning rule in each IP stream; setting at least one of a start field value and an end field value for all fields of said each IP stream used according to a corresponding partitioning rule; if setup of the start field value and the end field value is completed, encoding a partition declaration field of an ESG init container including the set values; and transmitting the encoded ESG data to a terminal.

Abstract: An apparatus for reporting downlink channel quality in a high-speed packet communication system. A channel analyzer measures downlink channel quality from a received reference channel signal. A controller determines whether a current TTI (Transmission Time Interval) is a TTI corresponding to a multiple of a first TTI or a TTI corresponding to a multiple of a second TTI. If the current TTI is a TTI corresponding to a multiple of the first TTI, the controller determines CQ (Channel Quality) refreshment information for a downlink channel received from the Node B based on the measured downlink channel quality, and if the current TTI is a TTI corresponding to a multiple of the second TTI, the controller determines CQ refinement information for the downlink channel based on the measured downlink channel quality.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method and an apparatus for supporting smooth and seamless handover of a terminal receiving digital broadcasting in a digital broadcasting system. A handover method by a network node includes the steps of receiving a handover proposal message from a terminal, the handover proposal message containing a time for signal quality evaluation, a service ID, and a cell ID, the terminal receiving a broadcasting service from a serving cell; evaluating signal qualities of candidate cells providing a service corresponding to the service ID; calculating a handover candidate parameter based on a result of evaluation of the signal qualities of the candidate cells, the handover candidate parameter indicating time available for handover with regard to respective candidate cells; and transmitting the handover candidate parameter to the terminal.

Abstract: A system and method for transmitting/receiving encryption information in a mobile broadcast system supporting broadcast service (BCAST) are provided. In the mobile broadcast system, a BCAST Subscription Management (BSM) manages subscriber information of a terminal, and transmits to a BCAST Service Distribution/Adaptation (BSD/A) a first delivery message including a Registration Key Material (RKM) provided for registration of the broadcast service of the terminal and including at least one service or content's identifier. The BSD/A transmits to the BSM a first delivery confirmation message including information indicating success/fail in receipt of the first delivery message, and transmits the RKM to the terminal.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing a preview service using an ESG in a digital broadcasting system are provided. Metadata of ongoing broadcasting services are collected. In the presence of preview data for the preview service among the collected metadata, information associated with the preview service is set in a Related Material element included in at least one of a service fragment, a content fragment, and a service bundle fragment in an ESG data model and representing referenced media data. ESG data including the fragments are generated and sent to a terminal.

Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for transmitting information necessary for generation of a notification event for a mobile broadcast (BCAST) service in a wireless communication system. A request message is generated including notification event information and appropriate attributes indicating a change in the BCAST service, and is transmitted to a Notification Event Function (NTE) in a BCAST Service Application block, which generates a notification event, and transmits a response message indicating the generation result to the CC. The NTE transmits the notification event to a function in a BCAST Subscription Management block to generate a notification message indicating the notification event, to be transmitted to a terminal receiving the BCAST service.

Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for transmitting information necessary for the generation of a service guide for a mobile broadcast service in a broadcast system supporting the mobile broadcast service. A Content Creation (CC) block transmits a service guide request message including various sources necessary for the generation of a service guide to a Service Guide Application Source (SGAS). The SGAS transmits the service guide request message to a Service Guide Generation (SG-G) unit over a backend interface. The SG-G generates a service guide using various sources included in the service guide request message, and transmits a service guide generation completion message indicating completion of the generation of the service guide to the SGAS.

Abstract: A system and method is provided for providing a service guide for a mobile broadcast (BCAST) service in a wireless communication/broadcast system supporting the BCAST service. If there is a need to provide a service guide in the mobile broadcast system, a Service Guide Subscription Source (SGSS) delivers a subscription and provisioning source, and a purchase and promotional source, to a BCAST Service Distribution/Adaptation block. The BCAST Service Distribution/Adaptation block then generates and provides a service guide using the sources.

Abstract: A method, apparatus and system are provided for controlling a scene structure of a mobile terminal for receiving and displaying data streams in a mobile broadcast system. When logical channels are multiplexed into one physical channel, the multiplexed channels are sequentially decoded and are displayed on an image. A channel circulation scene alternately displays the channels on one image in designated order. In a combination scene structure, a new node is added to a conventional Lightweight Application Scene Representation (LASeR) technology. To compose a scene, fields for time information and scene transition effect are provided. A delay time due to a channel change is reduced. A multi-channel image is effectively provided to address a problem when a user retrieves service content while directly switching a channel. The terminal dynamically composes the multi-channel image using stream source node information from a service provider without an additional mosaic channel.

Abstract: A roaming service method in a mobile broadcasting system and a system thereof are provided. A terminal receives a service guide from a corresponding visited service provider (Visited SP) when the terminal moves to a roaming area. The terminal transmits a roaming request message for requesting a purchase item allowable for individual services to a home service provider (Home SP) based on the received service guide. Upon receipt of the roaming request message, the Home SP negotiates roaming availability and allowable scope for each individual service with the Visited SP where the terminal is located, based on the roaming request message. The Home SP transmits the roaming availability and allowable scope for the individual service, negotiated with the Visited SP, to the terminal.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for managing a preference channel are provided which can reduce a delay time when a channel change is made between preference channels, by storing a preference channel directly selected by a mobile terminal user in a mobile broadcast system. A mobile terminal receives and demultiplexes multiplexed logical channels on which data streams are transmitted from a service provider through a communication network. Preference channels of the demultiplexed logical channels are dynamically allocated to decoding buffers using stored information. A decoding time at which data of the decoding buffers is accessed and decoded is computed using reference information. A decoding operation is performed at the computed decoding time, and decoded channel-by-channel elementary streams are stored in a memory. The decoded channel-by-channel elementary streams stored in the memory are displayed on a screen of the mobile terminal.

Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for receiving multiple streams. A group session structure is defined and streams are decoded according to the defined group session structure so that a single decoder can sequentially process demultiplexed streams allocated to multiple decoding buffers when multiple logical media streams are multiplexed into one physical stream in a mobile broadcast communication system based on Lightweight Application Scene Representation (LASeR).

Abstract: A multimedia middleware apparatus using metadata, a control method and a storage medium are provided which can receive metadata in multimedia middleware provided in a terminal, easily add/delete/change a service, and effectively maintain and manage middleware components. When an open multimedia terminal processes multimedia contents, a multimedia middleware service structure for expressing information of a name, configuration, version and application programming interface (API) update is configured in the form of metadata. Lists of standard and non-standard services of multimedia middleware are then generated and managed.

Abstract: An RNC determines parameters available for measurement of a synchronization signal and second Node B information from a second Node B, transmits the determined parameters to a first Node B during radio link setup and to a UE during radio bearer setup, and transmits parameter selection information to the first Node B and the UE, if it is recognized that measurement of the synchronization signal and the second Node B information is necessary. The first Node B changes a position of a downlink time period over which a downlink channel is transmitted from the first Node B to the UE and a position of an uplink time period over which an uplink channel is transmitted from the UE to the first Node B, according to parameters selected from the parameters. The UE receives the synchronization signal and the second Node B information in the remaining time periods except the changed downlink time period and the changed uplink time period among the plurality of time periods.

Abstract: A paging system and method for use in a multimedia/broadcast multicast service (MBMS). The paging system checks a paging indicator channel of a UE (User Equipment), and determines whether there is a paging signal associated with a broadcast service. If the paging signal associated with the broadcast service is detected, the paging system recognizes the channel information indicative of the paging fact, checks paging information included in an ID for differentiating between the broadcast service and other broadcast services and a paging response indicator adapted to determine a transmission channel scheme of the broadcast service, establishes a radio link, and receives control information using the radio link. The base station controller adapted to manage a cell including the UE transmits MBMS transmission scheme information to the UE in advance using the paging information, resulting in maximum use efficiency of RRC (Radio Resource Controller) resources.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for controlling a data rate by a user equipment (UE) that receives a scheduling command for uplink data transmission from a non-serving Node B in a mobile communication system that transmits packet data over an uplink are provided. A scheduling command receiver receives a down command for decreasing an allowable data rate of the UE from radio link sets (RLSs) of the non-serving Node Bs. A down command reception counter counts the number of down commands received from each of the RLSs for a predetermined hysteresis period. A down command execution counter counts the number of down commands executed for the hysteresis period. A down command execution decision unit compares the number of received down commands with the number of executed down commands, and determines whether to execute the down command according to the comparison result.
