Abstract: A method for remotely setting desktop background of a display device, wherein the display device accesses and receives emails from an email account, the method comprising: reading a received email; detecting whether the parameters of the read email are consistent with the predetermined rules; detecting whether properties of the comprised image are consistent with predetermined properties if the parameters of the read email are consistent with the predetermined rules; setting the image as a desktop background of the display device if the properties of the image are consistent with predetermined properties; storing the set desktop background. A display device capable of being remotely set desktop background is also provided.

Abstract: A method for editing images is provided. The method includes steps of: reading a to-be-displayed image; identifying portions of the read image containing human faces, and defining location(s) of face(s) as face area(s), and the remaining area(s) as non-face area(s); providing an image adjusting menu in response to an input by the user via a user input unit, determining an editing manner in response to a menu item selection, and generating an instruction corresponding to the determined editing manner; editing the face area according to the determined editing manner; displaying the edited image on the display unit; storing the edited image in the storage unit. A display device for editing images is also provided.

Abstract: A multimedia playing apparatus is provided. The multimedia playing apparatus includes a memory for storing image files and multi media hyper link (MMHL) files, each MMHL file comprising timeline information, audio information, and text information; and a central processing unit (CPU) electrically connected to the memory for reading an image file from the memory, obtaining an MMHL file matched with the image file based on a name of the image file, and controlling simultaneous output of the image file and the MMHL file according to the timeline information. A multimedia playing method is also provided.

Abstract: An electronic device and method providing a touch-based interface for a display control is provided. The electronic device includes a display, and a processing unit. The display includes a screen installed with a cursor thereon and a frame attached to the screen. The frame further has a first touch sensitive region and a second touch sensitive region for generating sensing signals in response to an input operation. Each sensing signal is assigned a coordinate for identification. The processing unit identifies the sensing signals according to the coordinates assigned therewith, controls a movement of the cursor displayed on the screen if the identified sensing signals from the first touch sensitive region, and controls a movement of pages displayed on the screen if the identified sensing signals from the second touch sensitive region. A related method is also provided.

Abstract: A portable electronic apparatus for timely receiving and displaying electronic files is provided. An identification code of the electronic file indicates that the electronic file is an instant file or a common file. A receiving unit (21) of the portable electronic apparatus is configured for receiving the electronic file, determining according to the identification code whether the electronic file is an instant file and determining whether the main part is in the “power-on” state via help of a power controlling unit (24) of the portable electronic apparatus; and sending an interrupting instruction to the main part if the electronic file is an instant file and the main part is in the “power-on” state. The main part receives the interrupt instruction, and obtains the electronic file to display according to the interrupt instruction.

Abstract: An electronic device and method for controlling a cursor is provided. The electronic device includes a display, a timer, and a processing unit. The display includes a screen and a frame thereof. The frame further has a touch sensitive region for generating sensing signals in response to an input operation. Each sensing signal is assigned a coordinate for identification. The timer records a time duration of continuously receiving the sensing signals. The processing unit determines a direction of the input operation according to the coordinates assigned to the sensing signals and a speed of the input operation according to the duration of the timer, and thus moves a cursor displayed on the screen corresponding to the direction and speed. A related method is also provided.

Abstract: An electronic device is provided. The electronic device comprises a housing, a plurality of touch sensors, and a processing unit. The housing comprises a plurality of touch areas and division portions, each of which is disposed between two adjacent touch areas of the plurality of touch areas. The plurality of touch sensors are disposed within the housing, each of which corresponds to one of the plurality of touch sensors. The processing unit is capable of identifying signals from the plurality of touch sensors and performing functions corresponding to the signals.

Abstract: A method for setting account of an electronic device is provided. The method includes steps of: receiving emails; reading a received email; detecting whether parameters of the read email are consistent with a predetermined rules; setting the origination email account, which sends the read email, as an available email account of the electronic device if the parameters of the read email are consistent with the predetermined rules. Abstract: An electronic device with annotation function and a method thereof are provided. The method includes steps of: reading a to-be-displayed original photo; receiving touch operations on a touch screen; generating an annotation interface on the original photo in response to the touch operations, identifying an annotations corresponding to the touch operations, and displaying the annotations on the annotation interface; making the annotations overlaying on the original photo; displaying the overlaid photo; generating a parameter file which includes parameters corresponding to the annotations on the annotation interface; storing the generated parameter file; establishing a relationship between the original photo and the parameter file.

Abstract: An electronic device with infrared touch input function is provided. The electronic device includes a display unit defining an information display area; an infrared input device including a circuit board having two pairs of oppositely disposed sides defining an open area corresponding in size and shape to the information display area, at least one light emitting device; a linear array of light detecting devices faced to light emitting devices, connected together via first resistances respectively to form a node; an analog/digital (A/D) converter configured to convert a voltage across the node into digital values; a micro-processing unit for determining an infrared light path being obstructed; and the CPU configured for controlling the display unit displaying a plurality of menu options, determining the menu option being touched; and performing functions corresponding to the menu option.

The portable electronic apparatus is connected to a sender which transmits an electronic file to the electronic apparatus. The portable electronic apparatus includes a power unit, a receiving unit, a main part and a power controlling unit. The power unit is configured for supplying power to the portable electronic apparatus. The receiving unit is configured for timely receiving the electronic file transferred from the sender. The main part is for timely displaying the electronic file received by the receiving unit. The main part may be in either one of a “power-on” state or a “power-off” state.

Abstract: An electronic book reading apparatus mainly includes a user interface, an operation controlling unit, and a display unit. The user interface allows a user to flip an appropriate number of pages of a displayed electronic book. The user interface includes a plurality of sensing units for generating sensing signals in response to the flipping operations. The operation controlling unit is used for determining a speed and direction of the flipping operations and generating a speed signal and a direction signal according to the sensing signals. The display unit receives the direction signal, flips the appropriate number of pages of the displayed electronic book in a corresponding direction according to the received speed signal and direction signal, and displays the resulting page of the electronic book after flipping. A related method is provided.

Abstract: A touch sensing apparatus includes: a differential signal source for generating two alternating current signals with same frequency and reverse phase; two conductors connected to a cathode output end and an anode output end of the differential signal source; a sensor for receiving a noise generated by a contact of an object; wherein the sensor and the two conductors form two simulated capacitors that result in offsetting environmental noise; a detector having a first input end and a second input end, the detector upon receiving the noise transferred from the sensor resulting in voltage differences between the first and second input ends thereof, and outputting a signal; and a rectifying circuit for rectifying the alternating current signals generated by the differential signal source and simultaneously generating a noise.

The method includes steps of: reading an email; detecting whether the read mail should be used for updating the software of the electronic device, comprising: identifying whether the server ID number of the remote server, which sends the read email, matches one of the authorization numbers; detecting whether parameters of the read email are acceptable according to predetermined rules; detecting whether a file of an email content is a software file if the parameters of the read email are acceptable according to the predetermined rules; determining whether to update the software of the electronic device; acquiring the software file from the read email, storing the acquired software file in the storage unit, and running the acquired software file to update the software of the electronic device.

Abstract: A switching mode power supply includes a transformer which includes a primary winding and two secondary windings. One secondary winding and the primary winding constitute a forward circuit. Abstract: A touch sensing apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes a flip-flop (15), a sensor (13), an AC signal (14), and a detector (16). The AC signal supplies AC signals to the flip-flop. The flip-flop outputs a first output signal at the output of flip-flop when the sensor is not touched. The sensor receives electricity signals from the object, and causes a delay of the AC signal inputted to the first input of the flip-flop, the delay of the AC signal to be inputted to the first input of the flip-flop further causes the flip-flop to output a second output signal at the output of the flip-flop. The detector detects a change from the first output signal to the second output signal at the output of the flip-flop and accordingly identifies a touch on the sensor.
