Abstract: A method for controlling a computer via a portable device is provided. The method includes the steps of: providing an input unit configured in the portable device for operational inputs; providing an operation interface for selecting either one of a computer controlled mode and a portable device controlled mode if the portable device is connected to the computer, wherein the input unit serves as an input unit for the computer in the computer controlled mode, and the input unit serves the audio signal generating device in the portable device controlled mode; receiving an operational input from the input unit, and generating a control signal corresponding to the operational input; translating the control signal to a control instruction according to input mappings and transmitting the control instruction to the computer, if the input unit of the portable device is in the computer controlled mode; and performing operations corresponding to the control instruction.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an audio processing method for hearing protection in an ambient environment, includes steps of: sampling digital audio signals decoded to obtain a plurality of amplitude values of the digital audio signals; obtaining a default gain value; calculating an actual audio energy of the digital audio signals sampled during a predetermined period time according to the amplitude values sampled in the predetermined period time and the default gain value; collecting ambient noises to calculate an ambient noise level; obtaining a reference audio energy according to the ambient noise level; comparing the actual audio energy with the reference audio energy; and generating a hearing protection signal if the actual audio energy reaches the reference audio energy, whereby protecting users' hearing. The present invention also provides a corresponding audio processing apparatus.

Abstract: A file editing system is provided. The file editing system includes: a first storage (41) for storing file contents; a primary display screen (31) for displaying the file contents thereon; a control device (20) for receiving commands and user comments taken regarding the file contents from a user; and a microcontroller unit (MCU, 10) for controlling the storing and displaying of the file contents and the user comments in accordance with the commands. The file editing system further includes a second storage (42) for storing the user comments under control of the MCU; and a secondary display screen (32) for displaying the user comments thereon under control of the MCU. Abstract: A wireless reception apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes a scan unit for periodically scanning favorite channels which are selectable as a playing channel, and recording broadcasting signal properties of each favorite channel; an evaluation value calculating module for calculating an evaluation value of each favorite channel according to the broadcasting signal properties thereof; a channel selection module for selecting one of the favorite channels as a playing channel according to the evaluation values; and a signal receiving unit for receiving radio signals in the playing channel. A wireless reception method is also provided.

Abstract: A display method for enabling a display apparatus to display multiple menus is provided. The display apparatus includes a screen and a frame connecting to the screen, the screen having a menu region and the frame having a touch strip corresponding to the menu region. The method includes the steps of: moving menu options of a menu displayed in the menu region in response to a stroke operation on the touch strip; and performing a function associated with a desired menu option in response to a touch operation on the touch strip. Abstract: A TV set (20) with a function of rejecting telephone calls is provided. The TV set includes a first communication port (201) and a second communication port (210) respectively connected with a telephone network (30) and a telephone (40). A switching circuit (209) is interposed between the first communication port and the second communication port; a decoder (202) is connected to the switching circuit and used for decoding a caller ID of an incoming call from the telephone network and transmitting the decoded caller ID to a display unit (205) to be displayed and to a MCU (203); and the MCU for invoking an automatically rejecting module (208) to automatically rejecting the incoming call by switching off the switching circuit according to rejection information stored in a memory. Abstract: A display apparatus for displaying a symmetric-type menu is provided. The display apparatus includes a screen and a frame connecting to the screen. The screen has a breadthwise menu region and a lengthwise menu region. The menu in the lengthwise menu region is a sub-menu of a menu option of the menu in the breadthwise menu region. The frame has a breadthwise touch strip and a lengthwise touch strip. Each touch strip allows one to select a desired menu option to perform an associated function therewith, and each touch strip maps to a corresponding menu region. A method is also provided.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an audio processing system with function of automatic gain control and method thereof. The method includes steps of: receiving a playing command to play an audio file; reading a genre type of the audio file from a tag of the audio file; reading a genre gain value of the genre type from a gain setting table stored in a storage unit; decoding the audio file and generating digital audio signals; converting the digital audio signals to analog audio signals; and signaling a gain amplifier to amplify the analog audio signals by the genre gain value, thereby sounds corresponding to the analog audio signals amplified is proper to a listener's hearing.

Abstract: A touch sensing apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes: a flip-flop, a sensor, an AC signal and a detector. The AC signal supplies AC signals to the flip-flop. The flip-flop outputs a first type output signal at the output thereof when the sensor is not touched. The sensor receives electricity signals from an object, and causes a delay of the AC signal to be inputted to the first input of the flip-flop, the delay of the AC signal to be inputted to the first input of the flip-flop further causes the flip-flop to output a second type output signal at the output thereof. The detector detects a change from the first type output signal to the second type output signal at the output of the flip-flop and accordingly identifies a touch on the sensor.

Abstract: A mute processing method used in a multi-person communication system is provided. The method is capable of automatically sending mute frames when there are no sound inputs from terminals of the multi-person communication system. The method includes the steps of: collecting input signals from a microphone; calculating an energy level of the input signals within a time span; sending a mute frame if the energy levels of the input signals within previous continuous time spans are less than a predetermined energy level and the energy level of the input signals within the time span is still less than the predetermined energy level, otherwise, coding the input signals within the time span; and outputting the mute frame or coded signals. A related apparatus is also provided.

The method includes steps of: adjusting the default gain value to an adjusted gain value in response to a gain adjusting command; signaling a gain amplifier to amplify analog audio signals received from a digital/analog converter by the adjusted gain value; updating the default gain value with the adjusted gain value; updating the time period corresponding to a new current time thereby yielding an updated time period; reading a predetermined gain value referenced by the updated time period; calculating an integrated gain value according to the predetermined gain value referenced by the updated time period and the adjusted gain value; and updating the predetermined gain value referenced by the updated time period with the integrated gain value, thereby audio energy of the analog audio signals amplified is proper to a user's hearing.

Abstract: A portable communication device is provided. The device has a primary display, a secondary display, and a processing unit. The processing unit is programmed for controlling the primary display and the secondary display according to a current state of the device. The processing unit has the primary display in a power off state if the current state is selected from the group consisting of a standby state, an incoming call state, a communication call state, and a dialing state.
