Abstract: A multimedia playing apparatus is provided. The multimedia playing apparatus includes a memory for storing image files, picture files, and multi media hyper link (MMHL) files, each MMHL file comprising timeline information, audio information, and text information; and a central processing unit (CPU) electrically connected to the memory for reading an image file or a picture file from the memory, obtaining an MMHL file matched with the image file or the picture file, and controlling simultaneous output of the image file or the picture file and the MMHL file according to the timeline information. A multimedia playing method is also provided.

Abstract: A starting voltage adjustment circuit (70), which can vary starting voltages to CCFLs (40) according to variations in the temperature of the immediate environment, is employed in an apparatus for driving CCFLs. The starting voltage adjustment circuit includes a zener diode (710), a thermal resistor (720), and a voltage dividing resistor (730) connected in series between a buck converter, a resonant boost converter, and ground. The starting voltage adjustment circuit also includes a control chip (740) which includes pins, of which one is connected between the thermal resistor and the voltage dividing resistor and outputs a constant voltage, and another is connected between the voltage dividing resistor and ground. The thermal resistor has a voltage drop thereacross varying with the temperature. The starting voltage adjustment circuit adjusts an input voltage to the resonant boost converter, thereby adjusting the starting voltage to the CCFLs according to variations in temperature.

Abstract: A discharge lamp lighting circuit includes an open protection circuit. The discharge lamp lighting circuit includes an open protection circuit and an over-voltage detecting circuit. The open protection circuit detects whether any of the discharge lamps are unlit, and sends a voltage control signal to a control circuit if one of the discharge lamps is not lit, whereby the control circuit sends a pulse signal to a buck converter according to the voltage control signal, and the buck converter generates and outputs a DC voltage according to the pulse signal. If the DC voltage from the buck converter reaches a predetermined voltage, the over-voltage detecting circuit conducts and sends a voltage control signal to the control circuit, and the control circuit ceases operating according to the voltage control signal. Consequently, damage to the other normal discharge lamps is prevented.

Abstract: A touch sensing apparatus includes a sensor (13), an AC signal source (14), a gate circuit (15) with two inputs, a first load circuit (18), a second load circuit (19) and a detector (16). The alternating current (AC) signal source is for outputting AC signals to the two input of the gate circuit. The sensor and the first and second load circuits are configured to enable the input signals to the two inputs of the gate circuit to be completely in phase and have same frequency and same duty cycle, and the gate circuit produces the first output type signal. The sensor receives electricity signals from the object and results in the gate circuit outputting a second output type signal. The detector detects the change of the output signal of the gate circuit from the first type to the second type and accordingly identifies a touch on the sensor.

Abstract: A display apparatus used in a hand-held device is provided. The display apparatus includes a primary display, a secondary display, a plurality of input devices, and a processing unit. The primary display is a non-volatile display, and the secondary display is a volatile display. The input devices are for operational inputs. The input devices include a first input device and a second input device. The first input device is for updating a detailed view information displayed on the primary display, and the second input device is for confirming operational inputs on the input devices. The processing unit displays a preview information on the secondary display in response to the operational input of the first input device, and updates the primary display with the detailed view information corresponding the preview information in response to the operational input of the second input device. A related method is also provided.

Abstract: A channel setting system is provided. The system is used in an electronic device and includes an input unit for receiving operational inputs; a timer for tracking an elapsed time when the electronic device is activated on a channel; and a control unit for calculating a total playing time of each channel during a time interval according to the elapsed time of the timer, and generating a channel playlist comprising a favorite channel sublist for each time interval based on the total playing time of each channel. A channel setting method is also provided.

Abstract: A display apparatus and methods for displaying multiple menus are provided. In one embodiment, the display apparatus includes a screen and a frame connecting to the screen. The screen has a first menu region and a second menu region each displaying a menu therein. The menu in the second menu region is a child menu of a menu option displayed in a selection area of the first menu region. The frame has a first touch strip and a second touch strip. Each touch strip corresponds to one of the menu regions, and allows one to select a desired menu option to perform an associated function.

Abstract: A preferred embodiment of a touch sensing apparatus includes an amplifier, an alternating current (AC) signal source, a sensor, a detector, a first load circuit, and a second load circuit. The alternating current (AC) signal source is for outputting AC signals to a first input and a second input of the amplifier. The sensor is for receiving electricity signals from an object that touches the sensor. The detector is for identifying a touch on the sensor according to output of the amplifier. The sensor and the first load circuit and the second load circuit, enable the amplifier has a common mode (CM) input when the sensor is not touched by the object. The sensor receives electricity signals from the object and enables the amplifier has a differential mode input. The amplifier amplifies a difference between the first input and the second input thereof and outputting the amplified difference to the detector.

Abstract: A wireless transmission system is provided. The system includes a wireless transmission apparatus for sending radio signals in a selected frequency and a wireless reception apparatus for receiving the radio signals in the selected frequency and playing audio signals corresponding to the radio signals. The wireless transmission apparatus includes a scan unit for periodically scanning interference frequencies of candidate frequencies, and recording characteristics of each interference frequency; an evaluation value calculating module for calculating an evaluation value of each candidate frequency according to the characteristics of the corresponding interference frequencies; a frequency selection module for choosing one of the candidate frequencies as a current transmission frequency according to the evaluation values; and a transmission unit for sending radio signals in the current transmission frequency. A wireless transmission method is also provided.

Abstract: An electronic signature system is provided. The system includes a server and a database for storing a plurality of signature selections. The server includes a signature task setting module for receiving a request for signing a document which has a document type, and setting the signature procedure according to the document type; a transmitting module for simultaneously distributing the document to designated signers; a signature selection setting module for receiving a signature selection selected by each signer in real-time; a signature selection analyzing module for obtaining the signature selections, analyzing the signature selections, thereby generating an analysis result; a determining module for determining whether a current designated signer has a right to sign the document according to the analysis result; and a signature performing module for signing the document if the current designated signer has the right. An electronic signature method is also provided.

When the viewer receive a telephone call, a TV set connected to a telephone can lower the volume to a predetermined answering volume, when the viewer ring off the phone, the TV set can reinstate the volume of the TV set 30 to the pre-answering volume.

Abstract: An electronic device and method for controlling a cursor is provided. The electronic device includes a display, a timer, and a processing unit. The display includes a screen and a frame thereof. The frame further has a touch sensitive region for generating sensing signals in response to an input operation. Each sensing signal is assigned a coordinate for identification. The timer records a time duration of continuously receiving the sensing signals. The processing unit determines a direction of the input operation according to the coordinates assigned to the sensing signals and a speed of the input operation according to the duration of the timer, and thus moves a cursor displayed on the screen corresponding to the direction and speed. A related method is also provided.
