  • Publication number: 20130129229
Abstract: An active set of discrete texture traces to a target point is determined in a first video frame and is applied to a second video frame to detect the target location in a second video frame. An estimate is made of the target location in the second video frame. A score map is computed of an area of locations. A location with a highest score in the score map is the new target location. If a threshold value is not met the active set of texture traces is stored. A score map for each of stored active sets is computed to determine the target location. If no score meets the threshold the target location in a previous video frame is made the current target location and a new active set of discrete texture traces is determined. Systems that implement the steps of the methods are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20130114894
Abstract: Systems and methods are presented for generating a new digital output image by blending a plurality of digital input images capturing the same scene at different levels of exposure. Each new pixel for the new digital output image is derived from a group of corresponding aligned pixels from the digital input images. In order to determine a weight for each pixel in each group of mutually-aligned source-image pixels, a weight distribution function is applied to values of an image characteristic for the pixels in the group of corresponding aligned pixels, and a net weight is subsequently assigned to each of the pixels in the group. Pixel values of pixels in each group of mutually-aligned source-image pixels are modified based on the net weights assigned to the pixels in order to obtain a new pixel value for a corresponding new pixel in the new digital output image.

  • Publication number: 20130114612
Abstract: A network appliance that is part of a distributed virtual switch collects network flow information for network flows passing through the network appliance. The network flow information is encapsulated into packets as a data record for transport. Network flow exporter type information is added to the network flow records configured to indicate that the packets are from a distributed exporter. An option template is sent to the network flow data collectors that includes a device identifier that is configured to uniquely identify the network appliance. The packets are exported to the network flow data collector. The network flow data collector uses the network flow exporter type information and the device identifier to associate the network flow information with the distributed virtual switch.

  • Patent number: 8408004
Abstract: A combustor for a gas turbine engine and related method is provided in which a plurality of combustor cans are selectively adapted with corresponding resonators. The resonators may, for example, be attached to every can in the consecutive arrangement of combustor cans, every other can, every third can or the like, and may be tuned to the same or first, second, third, etc. frequencies of operation. Such selective tuning is configured to suppress one or more of out-of-phase and in-phase dynamic interaction of streams discharged from adjacent combustor cans by changing the frequencies of pressure oscillation instabilities across the arrangement of consecutive cans.

  • Patent number: 8404313
Abstract: Provided herein is a method for the synthesis of nanocrystalline diamond (NCD) wires by depositing nanocrystalline diamond on Si nanowires using chemical vapor deposition methods. Seeding the nanowires in solutions containing nanodiamond powers, NCD wires are fabricated in typical CVD growth conditions within a very short time. NCD wires were 0.5-5 ?m in diameter, depending on the growth time, with lengths in the range of 20-100 ?m. The average elastic modulus determined by nanoindentation is 474.16±13.48 GPa. The unique mechanical properties of the NCD wire make it a potential material for active components of both electronic and electromechanical devices.

  • Publication number: 20130067490
Abstract: One or more techniques and/or systems are provided for suspending logically related processes associated with an application, determining whether to resume a suspended process based upon one or more wake policies, and/or managing an application state of an application, such as timer and/or system message data. That is, logically related processes associated with an application, such as child processes, may be identified and suspended based upon logical relationships between the processes (e.g., a logical container hierarchy may be traversed to identify logically related processes). A suspended process may be resumed based upon a set of wake policies. For example, a suspended process may be resumed based upon an inter-process communication call policy that may be triggered by an application attempting to communicate with the suspended process. Application data may be managed while an application is suspended so that the application may be resumed in a current and/or relevant state.

  • Patent number: 8396884
Abstract: A method for analyzing, querying, and mining graph databases using subgraph and similarity querying. An index structure, known as a closure tree, is defined for topological summarization of a set of graphs. In addition, a significance model is created in which the graphs are transformed into histograms of primitive components. Finally, connected substructures or clusters, comprising paths or trees, are detected in networks found in the graph databases using a random walk technique and a repeated random walk technique.
