    Abstract: A method of explicit lockstep for functional safety includes spawning, by a main thread, a first safe thread core and a second safe thread core. The method also includes initializing and mapping a first data register associated with the first safe thread core to each safe variable of a set of predetermined safe variables. The method further includes initializing and mapping a second data register associated with the second safe thread core to each safe variable of the set of predetermined safe variables. The method also includes comparing, by a hardware comparator, a first safe variable value in the first data register to a second safe variable value in the second register. The method further includes issuing an error completion to the first safe thread core and the second safe thread core when the hardware comparator detects a mismatch between the first data register and the second data register.

    Abstract: Techniques are provided for implementing a distributed control plane to facilitate communication between a container orchestration platform and a distributed storage architecture. The distributed storage architecture hosts worker nodes that manage distributed storage that can be made accessible to applications within the container orchestration platform through the distributed control plane. The distributed control plane includes control plane controllers that are each paired with a single worker node of the distributed storage architecture. The distributed control plane is configured to selectively route commands to control plane controllers that are paired with worker nodes that are current owners of objects targeted by the commands. If ownership of an object has changed from one worker node to another worker node, then subsequent commands will be re-routed to a control plane controller paired with the other worker node now owning the object.

When the link transitions from an active functional state in which the link has a first configuration of N active lanes to a power-saving state, the number of active lanes is collapsed such that M of the N lanes are maintained in an active power-saving state and P of the N lanes are maintained in an electrically idle state, where M, N and P are positive integers and N>P>M. The reduction in lane width reduces power consumption. Bit values specifying the current link configuration can be saved in a control register and read and compared to bit values contained in a link control register before transitioning back to the active functional state. If the bit values match, the active functional state is resumed directly from the recovery state, thereby reducing latency.

    Abstract: Tumor resection is commonly practiced to prevent the progression of cancer. However, there are post-surgery concerns including the formation of a void that can allow cancer cells to escape at the surgery site, which increases the risk of metastasis. To counter this challenge, an embodiment includes a polyurethane-based shape memory foam as a tissue void-filling device that can also release anti-cancer drugs. Such foams may activate at body temperature and become malleable. Such properties may enable the foam to be shaped to precisely seal the tissue void and then serve as a drug-eluting device. Based on the drug composition with poly vinyl alcohol (PVA), the drug release profile from the foam may be altered depending on the application.
