  • Publication number: 20030048982
Abstract: An optical switch (1) includes a cover (10), a base (20), two input ports (30, 50), two output ports (40, 60), a movable reflecting element (70), a fixed reflecting element (80), and a driving means (90). The movable reflecting element has a first mirror (71) and an opposite facing second mirror (72). The fixed reflecting element has a third mirror (81). The movable reflecting element is movable by the driving means from a first position, in which signals transmit from input to output ports without reflection from mirrors, to a second position, in which reflection from the mirrors effects a switching of the optical signals to different output ports. The presence of the fixed reflecting element automatically compensates for a distance between the first and second mirrors, allowing reflected signals to accurately align with respective output ports.

  • Patent number: 6510274
Abstract: An optical fiber holder (2) includes a holding element (3) and a base (4). The base forms a flange (41) protruding above the rest of the base. A pair of slots (42) is defined between the flange and the rest of the base. The holding element defines a passageway (34) for containing a plurality of fibers (5) and forms a pair of fixing feet (31). The holding element is assembled onto the base with the fixing feet being engaged with the slots. When an outside force acts on fibers held in the passageway, the holding element can rotate relative to the base, within a fixed range, protecting the fibers from damage.

  • Publication number: 20020181930
Abstract: A variable optical attenuator (10) of the present invention includes a cover (2), a housing (3), an optical module (4), a reciprocating means (5), and a filter (9). The reciprocating means, optical module, and filter are assembled in the housing. The reciprocating means includes a carrier (53) mounted to a rotatable screw rod (55). The filter has a varying optical density gradient over one of its dimensions and mounts on the carrier. Light signals are transmitted from an input optical fiber (45) through the filter and are reflected off a reflector (42) of the optical module to pass again through the filter to an output optical fiber (46). When the screw rod is rotated, the carrier with the filter mounted on it moves toward one side of the housing or another, varying the attenuation of the light signals. The screw rod can be rotated using a screwdriver through a side hole (33,34) on either side of the housing.

  • Patent number: 6490438
Abstract: A case structure of the present invention having an improved EMI shielding comprises a front case, a rear case and a PCB having ground traces and a plurality of electronic components thereon, a conductive elastic member. The front and rear case are made of a metallic material. The rear case includes a bottom, a sidewall and a cavity defined between the bottom and the surrounding sidewall. The bottom forms conductive rails extending into the cavity and cooperating with the ground trace of the PCB. A conductive elastic member is formed on the rails of the rear case by applying viscous conductive resin to the rails. The ground faces of the PCB electrically connect with the conductive rails of the rear case via the conductive elastic member, thus, providing an improved shield consisting of the rear rails, the PCB, and the front rear cases. The imposed shield is simpler to assemble and lower in cost since no additional frame and screws are required.
