    Abstract: A board to board electrical connector comprises an insulative housing defining a plurality of channels at both sides thereof and a plurality of conductive contacts received in the respective channels. Each contact comprises a resilient portion, an arm extending upward and outward from an upper end thereof and a mounting portion extending horizontally from a lower end thereof for mounting on a lower wall of the housing. The arm forms an engaging portion at an outer end thereof for contacting a pad on an upper board. A free arm then bends backward and downward from the engaging portion for supporting against the mounting portion when the contact is under compression. A soldering portion extends from the mounting portion for soldering to a lower PC board. Finally, a free end extends from the soldering portion and is retained in a respective pair of slits defined by the housing.

    Abstract: A hybrid connector with an audio jack comprises an elongate dielectric housing defining a number of grooves for receiving a number of terminals and a mating hole for accommodating a contact assembly. The contact assembly includes first and second contacts which each have a base, a resilient engaging finger extending forwardly/rearwardly from the base for electrical connection with a complementary connector, and a soldering arm rearwardly extending from the base. The soldering arms of the first and second contacts each form soldering surfaces on top and bottom sides thereof whereby the first and second contacts can be interchangeably assembled. The contact assembly further includes a third contact having a soldering arm bending rearwardly from a base thereof. The soldering arms of the contact assembly extend rearwardly out of the housing for mounting the hybrid connector on a circuit board such that a bottom of the hybrid connector is below a top surface of the circuit board.

    Abstract: An EMI shield is used for shielding electronic components on a printed circuit board of a mobile phone. The shield comprises a cover and a pair of grounding strips, all being made by conductive material. The pair of grounding strips is soldered on the printed circuit board. A plurality of latches is formed on each grounding strip. The cover, which is substantially in the shape of an inverted U, comprises a shielding plate and a pair of rims depending downward from opposite sides of the shielding plate. A plurality of openings defined in the rims engages with respective latches of the grounding strips to secure the cover to the printed circuit board.

    Abstract: An electrical connector of the present invention comprises an insulative housing, a plurality of contacts and a shield. The housing comprises a body portion rectangular in shape and having a receiving cavity in a rear side thereof. A protruding portion extends forward from a front wall of the body portion defining contact holding slots therein. The protruding portion has a front portion forming latching shelves extending rearward into the contact holding slots. Each contact includes a base section, with a horizontal section and a solder tail extending respectively from a front end and a rear end of the base section, and a spring contact section extending upward and rearward from a front end of the horizontal section. The horizontal section is provided at the front thereof with a notch for locking to the latching shelf of the protruding portion so that the contacts are fixed in the housing firmly.

    Abstract: An electrical connector includes an insulative housing having a first face on which a tongue plate is formed. Passageways are defined in the housing and are further defined by grooves formed on surfaces of the tongue plate for receiving and retaining contact elements therein. A shroud wall having three sections and a guide wall are formed on the first face of the housing and define a space therebetween for receiving a mating connector. The guide wall and the shroud wall have diverging inside faces for guiding a mating connector into the space. A shielding member having three sections is received in the space and supported by the sections of the shroud wall. The shielding member has a lower edge received in a slot defined in the housing and an outwardly bent top edge for guiding the insertion of the mating connector into the space and electrically engages with the mating connector for electrostatic discharge purposes.

    Abstract: An electrical connector in accordance with the present invention comprises a dielectric housing having two receiving chambers, a number of contacts received in the receiving chambers, and a shielding system for shielding the connector from electromagnetic interference and electrostatic discharge. The shielding system comprises an outer shield for enclosing the housing and a pair of inner shields received in the corresponding receiving chambers of the housing. Each inner shield forms several latching arms and detents inwardly extending toward the corresponding receiving chambers of the housing for electrically contacting a shell of a mating connector. Each latching arm further forms a latching tab inwardly extending therefrom for increasing the retention force between the inner shields and the shell of the mating connector.

The middle and the top terminal groups have a same structure, thereby simplifying the manufacture of the stacked electrical connector. An upper and a lower retaining blocks are prepared for fastening to the middle and the top housings. The spacer forms a pair of latching posts engaging with the lower retaining block for fixing the stacked housings against the spacer and defines a plurality of grooves to position the two sets of transition contacts.

Two sets of slots are formed on a top face 60 of the casing 6 in communication with the interior space 620 for receiving and retaining conductive terminal members therein, including two stationary members 3, 4 and two associated movable members 1, 2. The movable members 1, 2 engage with the stationary members 3, 4 and are selectively disengageable therefrom. The conductive terminal members 1, 2 3 and 4 are pre-compressed before being fit into the slots and the reactive spring force thereof retains the terminal members 1, 2, 3 and 4 in position inside the slots 601, 602, 603 and 604. A plug receptacle 7 is formed on the casing member 6 for reception of a plug that is inserted into the interior space 620. When the plug is inserted into the interior space 620 physical/electrical engagements is established with the movable members 1, 2 and the movable members 1, 2 are force to disengage from the stationary members 3 and 4.

    Abstract: An audio jack includes a casing member defining an interior space having an opening. A cover is fixed to the casing member to seal the opening. Two sets of conductive terminal members are fixed in the interior space. Each set has a stationary member and a movable member that engages with the stationary member and is selectively disengageable therefrom. A plug receptacle is formed on the casing member for reception of a plug. A passage is defined inside the casing member for guiding the insertion of the plug. The insertion of the plug into the interior space establishes physical/electrical engagement with the movable members and forces the movable members to disengage from the stationary members. The cover has a barb engaging an opening defined in the casing and two resilient legs having barbed ends engaging shoulders formed on the casing thereby securely fixing the cover to the casing member. A positioning pin is provided on the cover to be forcibly fit into a hole defined in the casing member.
