  • Patent number: 6168463
Abstract: An electrical connector retention device for retaining a connector on a circuit board comprises a mounting portion connected to a housing of the connector and an engaging portion received in an aperture of the circuit board. The engaging portion comprises first and second legs each having left and right interfering portions positioned at different vertical levels. The interfering portions on the same sides of the first and second legs are also positioned at different vertical levels. When the connector is mounted to a circuit board having a smaller thickness, the interfering portions of the engaging portion positioned at a high vertical level engage with a periphery of the aperture of the housing to establish reliable engagement therebetween.

  • Patent number: 6166892
Abstract: An electrical connector includes an insulative housing retaining signal and power contacts therein. A resettable power regulation device is attached to the housing and electrically connected to the power contact whereby an excessive-power condition caused by an excessive-current or excessive-voltage power signal transmitted through the power contact triggers a shut-down operation of the regulation device thereby terminating transmission of the power signal to protect an electrical device connected to the connector. The resettable power regulation device resumes transmission when the power condition decreases to an operational level.

  • Patent number: 6132260
Abstract: A stacked connector assembly comprises a dielectric main housing, a mating member, a connecting member and a middle circuit board for electrically connecting the mating member with the connecting member. The middle circuit board forms a plurality of contact fingers for engaging with corresponding mating contacts retained in the mating member, and a plurality of holes for engaging with corresponding connecting terminals retained in the connecting member. Thus, the middle circuit board electrically connects the mating member with the connecting member thereby forming a subassembly. Moreover, electronic elements could be mounted on the middle circuit board for performing certain functions, such as grounding, anti-cross-talk, filtering impure signal, etc., thereby improving the performance of the stacked connector assembly. The subassembly is then guidably inserted into a receiving chamber defined in the main housing by a pair of guiding rails formed on inner surfaces of opposite side walls of the main housing.
